Someday these girls will have their own troop I hope! Oumbi has his wife’s sister living with them. She has nothing to do with him and he has nothing to do with her. I was kinda surprised by that since he has a very strong personality. Such a waste. Like Komomo and Momoka,she is a very pretty and sweet gorilla that would’ve been a great mom. Thanks Karin!😊🙋🏽
I know EXACTLY what is vexing Haoko, and it IS a visible threat (at least to him). Last video I saw, they were still on display, and haven't been removed. Haoko is 👀 4:28 staring at those two gorilla skull heads on display in the visitor's walkway towards the gorilla exhibit. I wish the zoo would remove them. If I saw two human skull heads on display in front of my apartment building, well I would be highly disturbed too 🙄. Haoko probably thinks that some random unseen comrade of his has met a terrible demise at the hands of poachers, and further is there a possibility he/his family could be next. Gorillas are VERY sensitive, and their brains are a bit smaller, but similar in structure to that of humans. They're very intelligent. I think this situation should be brought to the attention of the zoo's administration staff at once. I would show your video footage as proof, and request to have the gorilla skeletal heads removed to a different location, out of Haoko's site. Now I think the keepers and staff do an excellent job taking care of the troop, but the gorilla skulls on display where a silverback can see them was obviously not a good idea 😒. This literally is the third time I've seen Haoko captured on camera reacting to the gorilla skull heads on a stake 🤦. 5:55 Momoko may be in estrus, but Haoko isn't focused on that (you see he didn't run and pounce on her as usual). The troop can sense he is anxious. Poor Haoko is worried about his family, 10:45 and the suggestion of 💀 death, as he charges 9:25. He wants everyone to stay away from the viewing window 1:03, 9:47. There he is again 10:20 staring at the skulls. Thanks Karin.
Thanks for sharing your concern about the replicas of gorilla skulls. I understand a gorilla is a sensitive being, just like us humans. I hope the zoo will consider placing those pictures and objects somewhere else so the gorillas don't need to see them. However, I don’t think the direct cause of Haoko’s anxiety was the display of the objects. These objects have been displayed for quite some time now, probably since he joined the zoo. I filmed this video in mid-October 2023, and I visited the zoo a few days later again, and he wasn’t exhibiting anxiety. I assume the cause of his anxiety came from Momoko’s menstrual cycle and the ongoing construction work near their exhibit, but I can't be 100% sure. In 2022, some kind regulars asked the zoo to turn the monitor screen off, which used to reflect on the glass case. As you have seen in some past videos, he beat his chest, banged on the windows, and was obviously upset with the reflection. The zoo turned the monitor screen off during the troop was able to move their indoor bed room and the outside enclosure freely. To my knowledge, I don't think Haoko has been that upset since then. He spends some relaxing time in the same grotto, where the same objects are displayed. In this video of mine, in my opinion, he was not that upset. He was just extra cautious. Momoko hasn't been breastfeeding Su chan since the delivery. The zoo confirmed that Momoko is on birth control, meaning her menstrual cycle has been back to normal. I don't think the zoo has a plan for Momoko to have another baby since she is still on medication. Thank you Camelia for watching.😊🌸

モモカ10歳の誕生日のときもう来年の誕生日を祝うときは上野にはいないかもしれないなんてビタースウィートな気持ちでいましたが、ぜんぜんまだいるのでそれはそれで心配です。ゴリラを飼育している園で連携協力してスマホのリサイクルしてゴリラの保全に役立てようなんて取り組んでおられたので、てっきり園同士の連携が進んでいるのかと思っていたのですが、まったく動きがないですね。毎年開催される繁殖委員会とやらでは、技術力や専門知識がバラバラな園同士で何を話し合っていらっしゃるんでしょうね🤔ドンのあしあと👣さん、コメントありがとうございました🌸
