I asked on reddit and someone mentioned Superlube's Synthetic grease with PTFE(Syncolon). I found a tube at a local gun store in southern Europe so I expect it to be available anywhere. Ha, As of today the Acebeam had another 10% of coupon so total was $19.25 shipped with Amazon Prime. I am a big Olight Fan but there has been a few times I felt they were overpriced for what they give you.
For me, no, it is not a olight killer, but an excellent addition. I rotate between them constantly. But prefer i5r for daytime and pokelit at night due to warmer tint.
Outstanding video review and comparison. I also have both of these flashlights and agree with your findings %100. I also subscribed to your channel because of your thorough comparison.
I went with the Pokelight only because I need a low as possible lumen and I like that form factor over other small lumen lights. I usually carry a Pineapple Mini from Reylight but I was looking for something with a bit more to run on the NIMH for that .5 mode.
I have the titanium olight i5r. I really like it. I use my ir2 eos key chain light when I need that 5 lumen. I just bought the ace beam poki. It's coming in the mail interested in checking it out. One thing it does do that the i5R doesn't is it has memory mode. So if you want it on any of the 3 different setting you can keep it there
Great video. Given your review, and seeing that both are so very similar I bought both. However, I bought the Olight HCRI version in blue (285 Lumen vs 350). Reviews are showing that fella at around 95 CRI and 4500K (a great neutral tint), but they don't specify which emitter they use. The HCRI was $35 and the Pokelit was $20 in the dark green with a 10% off coupon. Given that I like the features on both, I forsee myself carrying both. The runtimes are a bit wonky like you said, with the Olight having a better high run time, but what throws me off is the medium on the Pokelit, only being 2hrs. I would have figured the medium would have been more around 3-3.5 hours.
Last update: Light took a fall from about 12’. It broke, glass broke and it won’t come on any more. Emailed seller. They said they’d warranty. We’ll see. Great light, just don’t drop it. Update: So far so good. I actually prefer it over my Olight i5T plus. I feel like it’s brighter, on medium and low light is perfect for looking into control panels above ceiling. Two complaints, 1) not necessarily bad, clip is tight out of the box. It frayed the stitching on my jean pocket. 2) It scratches easily like my olight did. I carry it next to my knife and it rubs the green right off. Original: Just ordered one. I have the Olight i5t plus, it’s a great light, but too too heavy for the clip to be usable on a hat. Hoping this one works better to put on a hat brim. Need it for working above ceiling grid, just need to see a max of 15-20 feet, if that. Low mode should be great for working close up.
I like them both but personally I prefer the acebeam low, med, high settings. I will say however the i5r has a larger battery 🔋 in mah. If I were to recommend one to my brother it would be the acebeam. I paid $16 on amazon for the acebeam much less than I paid for the olight. To me they are so similar in appearance I believe they could be made on the same factory line. I don't believe you will be disappointed in either light. We need olight to be more competitive in prices.
Thanks to this review I actually pulled the trigger on getting the Acebeam just now (over the i5R I’ve been wanting for so long). I have two of the i3Ts which I regularly EDC, and a Warrior Mini II. However I wanted something in between that was re-chargeable (with the option of using backup AAs when camping). The fact this has the memory aspect and low lumens was a real decider for me. Thanks again for your help! Really enjoying your channel :)
Perhaps a dumb question, I just bought the Acebeam aa and a baggy with a white plastic tube and a white plastic eyelet (not sure what to call it) was in the box with it. The instructions don’t give any explanation.
I had just ordered an Olight I5Tplus , I EDC carry a flashlight truly every day. I want as many Lumens as possible that I can comfortably carry. I was excited about this being fairly bright 550 Lumens and be able to shirt pocket carry. I went on an Acebeam search and did indeed find the green one at $19. However I found a 1,000 Lumen model Acebeam !!😮🎉 I like 1,000 Lumens as my first line of self defense. Especially effective in low light but always valuable. I have seen a 1,000 lumen light put a person on their knees nauseous and disabled in a fully lit room. Yes like lots of people watching this , I have TO MANY flashlights 😂
Another good AA light is Convoy T2. Can get it with almost any 3535 emitter and different mode options. I have a 4-mode version with 519a in 4500k. It was $16 (w/o battery).
I got the T4 with the 219b 4500k led. I considered the T3 but it's just a tad too large for a single AA pen so I doubled down and went with the double AA/14500 battery setup lol
My olight tail switch failed in three weeks. This tail light failed in two months, sticking with streamlight for it has worked for 6 years with minimal fuss.
I've been getting really curious about using Olight's proprietary 2.4v "AA" battery in other flashlights. Seems to me that as long as the host flashlight doesn't have some kind of low voltage protection, a person could get a really nice boost in output while still maintaining decent runtime compared to a 14500. Food for thought, perhaps.
First of all I am not an Olight fan, more the opposite because of their long term quality. Regarding the Olight battery. Did not go thru all the comments. So maybe double entry. So I guess the idea behind the propertary one is the following: The second option is an AA. They likely thought it could be a good idea to optimize the light for low voltage. So you will not note a big difference when you use an AA. Further more you can optimize the capacity on the lower voltage and THAT is the reason for the longer runtimes and not any big optimisation on the driver. The capacity on the proprietary battery is around 1400 mAh while on the standard used in Acebeam around 900 mHa. So a perspective could be the Olight is the better backup flashlight especially for less experienced people. The default battery last longer, it has only 2 modes and starts on low always. Still I like the Pokelit more. First of all for the LED used. I am not a fan of high color temp bigger then 5000 K anymore.
What would you say in your opinion would be the BEST in this size with run time, construction and output. I recently bought the Reylight pineapple mini (still waiting for it) and want to know what your opinion on the best you ever tested in those categories. New to flashlights. Just bought the Reylight Pineapple mini, Sofirn SP10 Pro, Fenix E35 V3, and Olight Baton 3 Pro Max. This is addicting because before last week all i knew was Olight brand. Make it easier on you. Your top 3 in this size yourare testing here.
The clip is where most of these smaller edc lights lose it for me. Most of them have 0 tension and they feel like they could easily fall out. Olight has a decent clip.
I just got this light today! It sure has got a sturdy clip! But one question, how long does it take for this battery to charge for you? I've been having it on for about an hour with the original cord it came with and green light still isn't on.
9:10 I’ve had the i3T for years for pocket carry, but have recently been considering an upgrade for the Zanflare that lives on the side of my Leatherman sheath, (which has been a fantastic light BTW), I literally just order the Acebeam for $16.95! (7-19-23) So I’ll move the i3T over to replace the Zanflare, and use the Acebeam as my new pocket carry. Thanks for the video!
I bought this one after this vid and still is my goto light. I have a few olights but i still go to this one. I think primarily bc im not afraid to lose it but also the quality is really good and feels nice. I use custom battery so power is more.
Klarus xt1a is a much larger and more powerful but great 14500/aa unit. It has a dual tail switch that is programmable to both instant low, and instant high. I hate two way pocket clips, seems to snag on things far more often with pocket carry
I like the design of the Olight much more. The ui I also like more. But it would be even better if it has a high of 200l with even better runtime and an additional 500 turbo that you only get by fast double click so it doesnt disturb you if you want to go back to low from 200l.
Thanks for the vid!!! This is just what I needed...I see this Pokelit on sale for $16.95 now on amazon(only for dark green) ...and I had also been interested in the I5R ...I had no idea these were so comparable .So I can get 2 acebeams for less than the price of 1 I5R now. I'm gonna pick one up.
@@walterrojas1075 Yeah I got it and I highly recommend it...solidly made , green looks great...The 3 modes are useful, the high is plenty bright for it's prefect edc size.
I run the green pokelit with NiMh AA battery, very nice light, been testing it out for a week, I bought it to give to my mom for her car though, I'm going to be sad to give it up, it's grown on me, live the LED and tint, better than my sofirn hs41 which is kinda 🔵
I have a torch that uses a 3.7 high power battery and it works great but when I recharge the battery they just die . The multimeter reads zero . I think I overcharged ? Is there a way to wake them up ? I tried touching them with wires to another battery and a cpl other thjngs but it’s happened on 3 shockli batteries so far . From Amazon . Shockli for the nicron . Aa 3.7
Sounds like your light doesn't have low voltage protection..if you drain a 14500 below it's limit it wi damage the cell. Either get protected cells (chip inside that shuts off) or a light that has protection
After you posted the heads-up on the Acebeam, I ordered it. It’s a good bright light. Surprised it gets so hot so quickly on high mood but a very good light. I do like the run times on i5R but having three brightness options and the sale price, I’m liking the Acebeam.
Ppl don't realize just how important body thickness is for a flashlight..the amount of aluminum has a massive effect on heat management. Let me know how it holds up!
@@maxlvledc That’s one major thing I like about the ACEBEAM Rider RX, that external body keeps you away from the hot light. Plus, when I place it in a bag or holster, I “click “ the pocket clip down, bring the power button down into the exterior body- No accidental activation.
hmm Both Lights look not bad .. but the Question i have .. is .. AA/14500 ??? in Germany on Amazon the will be sold as AA with the Option to Use AA batteries or NIMH .. both optians havbe 1.5 oder 1.2 V so does it really Work with a 14500 3.2 LiPo ??
I agree, both of these batteries, the one in the O’light and the Ace are “proprietary” and possibly different technologies. KalatSaar You are correct an “AA battery” is 1.5volts everywhere, that is the standard for AA batteries across the world. If You were to put either of these “proprietary” batteries in a AA rated device, you would kill your device. An actual AA Duracell is rated at 1.5 volts at 1500mah. It wouldn’t be able to make either light work at all. So, you have the O’light designed to run on less voltage of 2.4 volt rechargeable Lithium-ion battery that has density of 1420 mah, also, it needs to be charged via a charger. The Ace flashlight designed to run on its proprietary 3.7V Lithium Ion rechargeable battery BUT, it has its own Charger/charging circuitry built in to the battery that you can plug into any USB C and it would charge itself to correct voltage. So, the O’light is 2.4 volts but, in theory, has 500mah more power density than the Ace. That’s about a 1/3 more again in theory, on paper, should run longer. So sorry to add more confusion into the mix but, I just wanted to help, if I could. Especially “KalatSaar” with his AA battery question. Wouldn’t want KalatSaar to put one of these lithium ion batteries in a AA device and smoke the device. Seems I added a lot more to consider between these devices. If you go to Amazon and look up 2.4volt Lithium ion, then look up 3.7 volt lithium ion battery you would see the latter are basically “Smart Batteries” with a built in charger you plug into USB C. A true 1s or 1 cell lithium ion battery, are rated at 3.7 volts, in the hobby world of FPV Drones, RC cars, etc. they usually charge up to 4.2 volts of but, they should be used right away then stored at 3.7Volts. Lots more confusion. I think I’m gonna go with the $20 Ace although O’light has a reputation that used to not be so good, Are they getting better?
@@sharkey5150 ok the Selling Text on Amazon is not very acurat ... i ordered a ACEBEAM Pokelit AA and a ACEBEAM Rider RX Both lights where Sold as "AA Taschenlampe" but where deliverded with the Acebeem 3.7 Lithium with integrated Charging port ... but thex both run with 1.2v NICAD , 1.5v AA Batteries . and 3.7v Standard 14500 the difference is only the max Output Lumen .. but it can use every Power source wich will fit into the Body :-) so for me TOP !!!! excelent elektronic inside 🙂
The pocketlit pretty much wins every category over the i5r. But I cannot bring myself to carry a light with mode memory. Wish you could turn it off. I would probably own a lot of these.
check out the wurkkos ts10. prolly the best 14500 besides the aux lights parasitic drain issue which can be fixed by flashing the new firmware. next batch will come updated hopefully
Amazon had the green ones for $16.99 this past week so I had to grab one. If the orange ones go on a $16.99 sale I may have to grab one of those too. lol
New subscriber here...love your thorough reviews! Just caught an Amazon flash sale and got the 1000 lumen Acebeam aa model (know you don't like its name 😊) for 16.99...wow!
Flashlights and the runtimes are really a hugely misunderstood thing unless you are into them..in truth how long do we truly use a flashlight at any given time?..as the saying goes your individual mileage may vary..some won't admit it but we've became so spoiled to the modern technology of flashlights that we seem to forget that only 12 years ago we were astounded by 120 lmns up to 200 lmns.. So to have a medium lmn of 190 and high lmn of 550 (acebeam) should be blowing our minds due to the size of flashlight that can do it..gotta love technology!!
Hey man did you ever get the olight carabiner? Some people got it before it sold out and reviewed it on TH-cam. I think no other carabiner can match it, what do you think?
@@maxlvledc look up O light O tool carabiner on TH-cam and you’ll see one of the best multitool carabiners. I’m trying to find something just as good as that one.

I don't want to be the anoying comment guy :) But what about the Lumintop tool AA 2.0? It's also 20 dollars and here in Europe on Amazon Germany I can get a Lumintop tool AA 2.0 with a 14500 battery included for 26 EUR. I never owned an Olight I5R though.
It's a good light for sure...but had 3 issues I don't like: 24lm on low with 14500 (way too high), terrible clip, and parasitic drain because of the tail switch light that's not neglible.
@@maxlvledc I have to say yes indeed the clip broke off with me within 6 months of use :) The reason I don't try the Olight I5R is because we don't get the sales Olight does in the Benelux store of OLight sadly :)

@@maxlvledc In case you have a caliper, use the upper tips to check (more or less) the size. I suspect it will be 15mm but would like to confirm, in any case! Thanks in advance 🔦🙏🏻
Look I will make it simple. From long experience with Olights, their proprietary batteries only last about half as long as they say and then need to be replaced with another Very Expensive proprietary battery. The weakness of the Olight is the battery, they are proprietary so you have to use their batteries, they are not good at longevity, they just don't last with regular use and they are FREAKING expensive. If you don't use your Olight on a regular basis (like daily) you may not realize what poor quality a Olight cell really is. For me this was a no brainer at the current sale price I bought two Acebeams.
You can see independent testing but it runs at 350lm for 10min, then drops to 170lm for around 170min. This was independently confirmed which is awesome.
Thanks for the video. I personally carry an Olight i5 or i3T and a WM2 daily. I have been on the fence about trying out Acebeam. But seeing it has a more natural light output makes me very interested, and it is ODG. Just ordered a few Acebeam lights off Amazon to test them out

Just curious and no disrespect intended.. Do you find it hard to do these video reviews and at the same time, making sure you are making a great video to help the company that you are working with to sell the products that they sent you?
I bought this light myself so its easier, a while ago I realized..I'm going to say what I feel regardless. What I usually do is give the company the option of having me not post the video if I don't like it. In this case I like both lights..but both are still not remotely in my top 5...
Curious what are your top 5 lights? I like small AAA & small AA. Long run times are also important as is 3 to 4 mode options. Also really like memory! Thanks Paul
@@maxlvledc Instead of the Baton 3 , I use a Lumintop FWAA. My experiences with Olight are Bad. In the beginning of my flashlightobsession, I bought a couple of Olights, but I never would. If the tool AA had better clip and an actual low mode with a 14500 I'd recommend it much more.
OLight for the WIN !!
$55 cad Amazon Olight i5r-eos
$55 cad Amazon ACEBEAM Pokelit AA
$110 cad Amazon COPPER Acebeam Pokelit AA
Your top 3 in this size yourare testing here.
do. you notice the difference in CRI by eye?
Thanks for the vid. I picked one up using your link. At $20 and some change shipped, after tax, its a no brainer. Subed
Let me know what you think! My opinion is still mixed..but for $20 it's really really hard to beat.
The clip is where most of these smaller edc lights lose it for me. Most of them have 0 tension and they feel like they could easily fall out. Olight has a decent clip.
This one is even stronger
I just got this light today! It sure has got a sturdy clip! But one question, how long does it take for this battery to charge for you? I've been having it on for about an hour with the original cord it came with and green light still isn't on.
Acebeam is killing olight acebeam is gona be a huge company they are doing so much better for such a great price.
I just ordered the Acebeam on Amazon to replace my old EDC light and it’s only $16 right now.
9:10
I’ve had the i3T for years for pocket carry, but have recently been considering an upgrade for the Zanflare that lives on the side of my Leatherman sheath, (which has been a fantastic light BTW),
I literally just order the Acebeam for $16.95!
(7-19-23)
So I’ll move the i3T over to replace the Zanflare, and use the Acebeam as my new pocket carry.
Acebeam beats olight. Does the olight battery work in the acebeam
Hmm, didn't try it...doubtful
I like the design of the Olight much more. The ui I also like more. But it would be even better if it has a high of 200l with even better runtime and an additional 500 turbo that you only get by fast double click so it doesnt disturb you if you want to go back to low from 200l.
it's fine as it is for me, the acebeam is just a great alternative. I have multiples of each.
Folks they are BOTH equally useful in real life use, regardless of the stats on paper or perception. My opinion isget both and decide for yourself.
Amazon has a lightning deal on the pokelit right now. Got the green for less than $18 ahipped even after tax!
Thanks for the vid!!! This is just what I needed...I see this Pokelit on sale for $16.95 now on amazon(only for dark green) ...and I had also been interested
in the I5R ...I had no idea these were so comparable .So I can get 2 acebeams for less than the price of 1 I5R now. I'm gonna pick one up.
Same. I have was looking at the i5r but saw this review. Just ordered for $18+tax.
3:30 wrong i5R has 1038cd Pokelite 1849cd. Also its easy to see that the Pokelit has much more. Maybe you dont understand what candela is.
Not with AA..which I believe I was referring too
Great vid, wasn't aware of the ace beam offerering, night beam shots would be nice 👍
Didn't have time. Plus don't really have a good setup to show case the difference
3.7V 14500 yes for acebeam, no for the olight. It won't fry it, but won't work properly
@@sharkey5150 the big thing is that the acebeam can use many other 14500s like a vapecell, but the olight can't.
Ooo, very cool. I will
Just purchased my acebeam from amazon for the price you said. cannot wairt to try it out.
i went to the baton 3 and 3 pro, need longer run time. great video and great duel
Amazon had the green ones for $16.99 this past week so I had to grab one. If the orange ones go on a $16.99 sale I may have to grab one of those too. lol
Do they may aaa varient like olight i3t ??
I do wish the tail switch on pokelit did not have the delay it does, I have 4 and they are the same.
After a couple bad Olight experiences, I will never touch another one.
New subscriber here...love your thorough reviews! Just caught an Amazon flash sale and got the 1000 lumen Acebeam aa model (know you don't like its name 😊) for 16.99...wow!
Phew...I thought I was about to sell my I5Rs... not the case anymore. Thanks! I'm sticking to Olight's UI. I also prefer longer runtime.
I'm currently waiting for the Olight i5R EOS to be shipped to me... It seems like I gotta revisit the store once again 😅
Which one?
@@maxlvledc look up O light O tool carabiner on TH-cam and you’ll see one of the best multitool carabiners. I’m trying to find something just as good as that one.
@@ColdComrade have you seen the civivi one?
@@ColdComrade the rovyvon one is also better imo
@@maxlvledc I checked both of them out civivi and rovyvon. The civivi carabiner is too expensive considering that the tools don’t work that well. The Rovyvon is ok but has no knife. I bought one from key unity and it’s pretty good but doesn’t have the glass breaker, fillips and flat head that the Olight carabiner does.
I got an ace beam because of this video love it
It’s like they copied OLight’s homework, but got more answers correct ha! Nice lights!
I bought one, and loved it so much, I ordered 2 more (on sale @16.95 at the time of writing this)
Another great review and an interesting comparison. Thank you!
Thanks for the review and the recommendation. Got it. Love it. 👍
Hey have you checked out the wurkkos ts10 yet?
Hmmm, nope, but I have 2 others from them Which are the best possible imo
@@maxlvledc well itd be worth checking since its $20
So what do you think grasshopper did o light make it and they're just trying to make more money
I know that not to be true...but would be genius if they did.
Why does it advertise 9 day run time on the pokelite?
9 days when using 1.5V AA
Was wondering if there's a way to lock in the lowest setting ?
Switch to the lowest.
Then turn it off..it will remember last mode.
What's is the cri rating of both ?
90+ for acebeam, but not sure about olight.
@@maxlvledc do you know if the olight battery would fit in the acebeam ?
Tried for fun just received mine today. It really is an amazing light. The Olight battery does indeed work but at a lower output. 2.4v vs 3.7v
Glad you are not another Olight shill which there seems to be countless of on youtube.
I do honestly like olight..to be clear..but I also dislike a number of their lights.
Do you prefer 18650 or 14500 for rechargeable batteries? I'm very new to these small lights and I've purchased 2, i3t's 1, i5t, now just this one. Thanks for everything. You're (definitely a nerd so am i
in a good way of course) 😃
18650 is crazy versatile if you can manage the size of those lights.
How’s the tail switch in clicking it soft hard
So so..I've had better...and worse
Thanks for your comparison and impressions on both lights!!
Can you please check the diameter of the Acebeam's *driver* ?
Thanks in advance! 🔦
Not sure how to do that.
@@maxlvledc In case you have a caliper, use the upper tips to check (more or less) the size.
I suspect it will be 15mm but would like to confirm, in any case!
Thanks in advance 🔦🙏🏻
I got a problem with my acebeam's switch that the black color on that is fly off with just a few clicks. does the olight has the same problem?
Don't think so
Really liking the Acebeam !!
How do you attach the wrist lanyard
not sure, I never use them. And this one doesn't seem to have a good place for one.
Do all I5R come with a 2.4V Rechargeable AA?
rechargeable lithium-ion 2.4 but yes.
Its 17 bucks on Amazon now for the green one
Does the AceBeam have a lock- out mode?
No, but thankfully not needed...really strong button press is required
Look I will make it simple. From long experience with Olights, their proprietary batteries only last about half as long as they say and then need to be replaced with another Very Expensive proprietary battery. The weakness of the Olight is the battery, they are proprietary so you have to use their batteries, they are not good at longevity, they just don't last with regular use and they are FREAKING expensive. If you don't use your Olight on a regular basis (like daily) you may not realize what poor quality a Olight cell really is. For me this was a no brainer at the current sale price I bought two Acebeams.
Good info, thanks!
The problem with killers is that they don't t last long.
Yeah but Olight always has shipping costs so as long as you have Amazon prime, the ace beam seems like a no brainer.
Yep. Of if you spend more than a certain amount during the sale, which makes the shipping included
Spend over $49 with olight and your shipping is free. With Amazon you have to buy a $200 membership to save $5 shipping
Just grabbed one
The way I read the olight chart is it runs on high for 35 seconds, steps down to 150lumens, runs 1 min 30 seconds, steps down etc etc.
You can see independent testing but it runs at 350lm for 10min, then drops to 170lm for around 170min. This was independently confirmed which is awesome.
Olight just want that "longer run time king" name on their lights
Olight is on another level , Acebeam is ok but Olight is my chose
Wish there was a way to disable mode memory. I'd be all over this...
Thanks for the video. I personally carry an Olight i5 or i3T and a WM2 daily. I have been on the fence about trying out Acebeam. But seeing it has a more natural light output makes me very interested, and it is ODG.
Just ordered a few Acebeam lights off Amazon to test them out
The OD green was the deciding factor for me too lol
Acebeam is also 219 nichia led , much better light composition
This guy: "This is one of the nicest, firmest clips... I really REALLY like the clip on this, really well done"
Also this guy: clip is three out of five stars
Versatility...not just the clip...the good clip adds a star, but other factors get it higher
Olight is the Toyota of torches
Just curious and no disrespect intended.. Do you find it hard to do these video reviews and at the same time, making sure you are making a great video to help the company that you are working with to sell the products that they sent you?
I bought this light myself so its easier, a while ago I realized..I'm going to say what I feel regardless. What I usually do is give the company the option of having me not post the video if I don't like it. In this case I like both lights..but both are still not remotely in my top 5...
Curious what are your top 5 lights? I like small AAA & small AA. Long run times are also important as is 3 to 4 mode
options.Also really like memory!
Thanks

Most brands are better than the Olight massproduction, in my opinion.
Hmm, definitely are some. But I haven't found a good competitor to the Baton 3 or Warrior Mini 2 yet.
@@maxlvledc Instead of the Baton 3 , I use a Lumintop FWAA. My experiences with Olight are Bad. In the beginning of my flashlightobsession, I bought a couple of Olights, but I never would.
