Excellent info as usual! I love your channel! Thank you! The first though that went through my mind when seeing the bow was Tatar but you already mentioned this. Very good bow it looks.
I have a White Feather Precious 48" Horse Bow & i love its lightweight feel, i'm amateur tho so only using a 25 lb string, I can shoot quite fast & accurately with it. I'm only 5'2" so its perfect for me. recurves I find are too long for me. the rest material does wear throough quickly though, i need to replace mine.
unrelated to the 4 vegetable bow (sorry, it sounds hillarious) but you look more in shape now! I hope you stay motivated and keep going outside and making videos because I think it's working, i remember you a bit bigger since the video where you talked about how shooting bows gives you an excise to go outside and moove. I've been on intermittent fasting for more than a month now, it works for me but I will start excersising too even though I find it boring. My objective is to be skinny for Christmas so I can eat on Christmas night and on new years eve whithout a worry and knowing I've earned it. I hope you also get to a point where you can say "you know what? yes, ill have some chocolate" Lots of encouragement! keep doing what you do, you're awesome and so is your content!
The original bowyer named it "five materials" bow, because he used fortune cookies at random to pick what he would make his next bow with. It never caught much wind, since no one wants a bow made of cookies.
@@anthonyz3400 The main difference is that the SiCai isn't actually a xiaoshao like the Tatar is. It's closer to the "Emperor" style bows, which are technically changshao with very curved siyahs. If you look at the bending sections and siyahs of the SiCai vs the Tatar, you'll see that the static portion on the SiCai is much longer than on the Tartar in relation to the bending section. As a result, in theory, the Tatar is going to be faster than the Sicai, but the Sicai will be more smooth and stable.
Watched most of the video before I realized what I was seeing. You shoot left handed. I was trying to figure out how you were shooting like you were until I wrapped my head around it. Another thing you must have some serious calluses on your fingers to shoot without a glove.
Hey Jack, I'm also from Canada and I was wondering if you ever had any issues with shipping from Alibow or AF Archery? If so, curious which one has a better experience or better shipping costs? Thanks!
I’ve had some issues with quality but I’m also fortunate enough to be a TH-camr for them to care to send one if damaged. I’m not sure if a normal customer has that leverage
@neophyte1994 I also ordered a Ming bow. The process was as usual until the bow arrived in the US. I was notified by AF after the delivery due date, my order had been lost. Ten (10) days later it was located!. I received it two days following. Then the issues began. The bow looked to have been repackaged. It looked as if it had been used. The three extra strings I had on the order and paid for were not in the package. I promptly contacted ShanShan at AF customer service. Through a series of Text's she said there was trying to get over on them. That no extras had been ordered. She suggested I was lying though she had the order history. Be careful doing business with HuntingDoor or it's subsidiary AF Archery.
@@stevenparsons4464 so how did it end? Did they claim you never ordered the extra strings or did they claim they were sent with the package. Looks like customs screwed with your package, was there any info on that from them?
Question please? What difference is there between a 50lb bow and a 25lb bow, is it just raw power? Up to what distance will a 25lb shot against a 50lb, as a beginner I have a 25lb bow?
Dude your happiness is contagious! Thanks for uploading all of these vids, they're a lovely watch on top or being educational
I'm more happy now watching this
Your pure joy is contagious
4 vegetables sicai
They are nice. Similar to Alibow's Emperor. My fave AF are the old Tartar (130cm string) and Han (140cm string).
Hey Jack it’s Derek (punching bag assaulter) glad to see you still making bows !
I never realized this bow has an almost cult following until after I bought one myself and then Ben Roth told me 😅 love mine so much

Hey man your content is super interesting, but I just wanna know, how does one get into historical weapons? How did you get into historical weapons?
it look like tartar how u think those two are different
Identical except with historical chinese materials such as Chinese sinew horn and wood
Was wondering the same thing. The difference between the Af Tartar and that

I don’t do buisness with them I just review their bows
whats wrong with them? i just ordered the Ming bow from them

Both can reach 100 m. The 50lb will drop less. I recommend getting a light one of 30 to start
Where do I buy that bow?
I need to get a bow
