    I'm planning on making some fly fishing videos in this area for my channel. Ran across your videos. Great work. It made my camp ground research so much simpler. Thanks!

    I didn't see any bear lockers. But extremely beautiful setting. I've stayed at Mogote a few times. Love the trail along the river. Rode my bike on it for what is probably a mile or more. Biking along the Conejos...doesn't get any better. Thanks for a very informative video. Driven by this campground. Had no idea it was that big.

    Congrats on #250! I haven't stayed at Aspen Glade but may have to give it a closer look. Saw many familiar sites on your drive to/ through Antonito. Prepping for my 2023 trip out in the Fall.

      We'll head back to the area this summer. Mix Lake Campground is finally re-opened after several years of being closed.

      @@CampgroundRecon I love that entire area. I usually do Lake Fork up near Platoro but the Pine Beatle damage up around the lake just breaks my heart. First went up there in high school 1977 and keep returning. That part of the country hasn’t changed much since then and gives you a sense of traveling back in time to simpler days. Guess that’s why I keep making the 1400 mile round trip.

      I hope to make it back to that area this summer. Mix Lake re-opened and we didn't make it last summer to record it. It's a beautiful area.

    Great video! I had rare control of the remote tonight so I was watching this premier on the big screen while my wife was getting ready for bed. She came in about half way through and immediately said “Let’s try that one next summer!” Smokey’s little enclosure was pretty nice! I didn’t think that he would stay out there at night because page one of the dachshund owners manual states, “You WILL share the bed with the wiener dog.” Our two youngest ones sleep with us at home and on the road. Someone once asked in a camping forum I was reading “How do you stay warm at night while camping?” The first and best answer to their question was “Get a wiener dog!”

    • @LLC273
      @LLC273 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yup - weiner dogs will keep you warm. Mine has to be deep under the covers.

    I'll take the one by itself 🙂 the forested area surrounding the campground looks amazing. It's always nice when the forest looks this way, a specific way that I've grown up around during summer vacation. Congrats on the 250th tour!

      Yikes! I don't like any snakes. Mogote is this Thursday's featured campground

    You guys have upped you game a bit. Love the quick preview of map location in the beginning for a reference point. And information about reservations are a plus. Growing up here in the 50's and 60's there was no such thing as 'campground reservations', still trying to get my head around that. I went in for a tour of that old guys castle around 35 years ago, wondering if he's still alive or worked himself out of commission? That's a great spring or fall destination, THANKS!

    • @CampgroundRecon
      @CampgroundRecon  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think the old guy is still around and sometimes will give a tour if he sees people taking pictures.

      I've thought about it but don't want to overrun our favorites. More likely it will be a video about our favorite areas with info on the campgrounds in those regions.

      We showed up without a reservation the week leading up to 4th of July weekend and was able to get the site for a night. Several other campgrounds in the area that we will feature in the coming weeks had more sites available. Keep it up and you will be at 250 before you know it.

    Do these have long-term rates? If we were to spend 3 months in campgrounds, that would be stupid expensive. Don't want to be a host.

    • @CampgroundRecon
      @CampgroundRecon  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately, they don't. This one has a 14-day stay limit which is pretty common with national forest campgrounds. I've seen 28 & 30-day stay limits at a number of campgrounds west of here in the San Juan National Forest.

  • @davidleggitt4687
    @davidleggitt4687 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have seen alot of your videos, with all these in the forest is camp fees 1/2 price with senior pass

    • @CampgroundRecon
      @CampgroundRecon  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, all USFS Campgrounds are half price with the correct senior pass. Camp hosts will verify you have a pass when checking in.
      I let my parents make the reservations for our annual family camping trip. One year they couldn't make it, so I had to pay the other half to the camp host.
