Seems like an EXCELLENT course. Decades ago I was into automation, Allen Bradley and PLC. Fast forward to now and I moved into 3D Printing and coding of Arduino and Raspberry Pi controllers, stepper motors and robotics. Cool stuff here and it helped me to do that work, years ago, and continue into a slightly different but related field. I even buy "as is, for parts only" 3D Printers and fix them, which includes diagnosing and rewiring the controller boards on the printers. So, it's all related and great that you are keeping technology alive.
Good morning. My day employment I do alot of electrical controls, troubleshooting (also with customers on phone, etc.) My 2nd employment I also do 100% troubleshooting on machines. Took company months and could not find problems. It takes me under two hrs.. love my line of work.
I've been in this business a long time from troubleshooting to design and there is always something to learn. I would love to go to this class!! Tim in my opinion is a great teacher!!
Took the the class recently and it was great, Tim takes time to answer your questions and challenges you, I’m a service tech for a maker manufacturer’s rep, been doing it for 35 plus years and I still learned new stuff , and have already used the skills on customer jobs, it is worth every bit of time spend there, thanks Tim , your way of doing it was spot on
It is a very intense class. I would be willing to bet anything that you would not have better money spent than this course. It is the most you could possibly learn on troubleshooting allen bradley plc's within 5 days.
I was at a plant for a few years that had all Siemens. Even though we had STEP 7, all the notes, tags, etc. were in Italian. Your videos have helped me tremendously to brush back up on Studio 5000, RS Logix 500, and CCW. I'm new to CCW, but we are updating our old Micrologix to micro 800's. Thanks for the awesome work! Do you know if your courses are covered by TAA benefits? Thanks again.
I’m currently really interested in applying for this class but my question is would I need to know plc programming first before troubleshooting since I know absolutely nothing about both
Sir iam facing issue in plc process calculations like which maths concepts I need to study inorder to become a better programmer please help me to improve
You can't learn anything from an online class that you can't learn from our videos. We are going to do some more instructional live streams so subscribe so you'll know when.
Hello Tim, thank you very much for the time you take into making these videos. Maybe it’s a silly dream of mine but I’ve been looking into learning PLC programming, what are the very first steps you recommend for someone that is beginning from ABSOLUTE ZERO? Even with the terminology and everything from the basic principles, I get very lost while watching vids but it seems to be something I can learn and make a career out of. I’ve been looking into the robotics/automation courses that are offered by MIAT here in USA (I live in Michigan.) Would courses like this be my best place to start? Also, I’m curious to know your opinion on RealPars from Netherlands?
Check out this video about getting started. th-cam.com/video/N8Bvmx3Sr28/w-d-xo.html Then look at this lesson series. You can get through the counter lesson without a PLC, then you can decide if you want to invest in a PLC. twcontrols.com/micro800-connected-components-workbench-lessons
Hey Tim, I am new into the connected components workbench software, I have some Rockwell liteiture on branches and nested ladder, i am needing to add some branches but cant drag like in 500 or 5000, i cant seem to figure this one out. i need to start from the beginning of the ladder and jump across several instructions on already several branches with a new branch to the other side of the instructions. hope i am making sence, if anybody can explain this to me any help is appreciated.
Hi Robert. Highlight the instructions and branches that you want the new branch to straddle and press the control key and 7 at the same time. I'd recommend creating a new program and practicing first, it took some time for me to work out what to highlight. Great Sunday morning exercise, thanks for the question!
Tim, I used to utilize 5000 emulate software to simulate the cpu running... in Studio 5000, it looks to be a lot more involved... Do you or can you create a video on how to download anything needed, etc. and how to set up and install it.. Thanks! -Paul
Hi Paul, the reason I don't have a video on emulate for Studio 5000 as I don't think it works that well. For very beginners I do recommend the simulator and Connected Components Workbench but only to figure out if you truly are interested in learning PLCs. And you are well be on that step. I'd start searching for some hardware.
do you accept design engineers into your course .... those who want to get better at designing systems that are easier for the techies to maintain and gain some perspective on real factory floor considerations for systems that break a lot because of design flaws vs those that only break when some I/O device physically fails (this is part of post grad research into dark factories)
Yes we accept engineers. While our class is not intended to be a PLC programming class, you will learn the benefits of well written code and the pitfalls of poorly written code. Send us an inquiry and we'll talk about your specific situation. twcontrols.com/email-us
