The pond turtles are so pretty, it almost looks like they have fireworks on them. The beauty of turtles is amazing (I marvel at my Western painted turtles every day) and the beauty of camouflage in general is amazing!

The European pond turtles color pattern reminds me of the Indonesian fabric and pattern called Batik. They look like the clothes I used to see the people of Indonesia wearing when I lived there for 3 years.
You know, I just never imagined I'd ever be spending my Sundays watching someone cleaning tortoises with a scrubby sponge and a toothbrush... Strange the turns life takes. 😂 All the new arrivals are gorgeous. 👍🏻🐢🐢🐢The dappled sunlight coloring on those European pond turtles is amazing.

Aren't they handsome critters! Both kinds have beautiful large eyes; the pond turtles look almost as if they have eye liner around them. Love those unusual orange eyes - will you name her Clementine? (Maybe Orri for the matching male - it's a variety of clementine.) Looking forward to seeing how they settle in.

I really need your help here!! I'm from Spain and my parents have decided to adopt a tortoise for me to take care this christmas because of how much I love turtles and tortoises. It'll most likely be a mediterranian specias but I don't know more than that. I was planning on making a little habitat for them at our terrace but my parents said that it'd be way too cold and they wont resist the winter! What do you recommend me?? An outside or inside enclousure? What things do I 100% gotta keep in mind? I'm watching all ur vids and doing research to make sure I can give them the best conditions I can offer
If you do not have the very best conditions to keep and care for the tortoise and since your parents will not tell you more specifically about the species, why not tell your parents thank you for being so thoughtful but you may not be able to care for it properly for many years. You never said whether you live with your parents. If you still live with them, are you going to be the only person caring for the tortoise? If you live on your own, whom do you share your house/apt with? I speak from experience that if you share a home with people who do not share your love of tortoise and turtles(or any pet) that pet suffers because of the lack of care of other people. If you live with your parents will they do any care giving if you can not or when you are older and move out to go to uni? No one in my family cared AS MUCH for my pets as I did. When I went to university my pets could not come with me. Very sad to say but several died because I was not there to responsibly care for them. And when I was able to get home it was difficult to find safe homes for those pets that remained.
I know you can't have them as pets in Jersey for years. My brother had one about 50 years ago. I don't know now if you can have them a s pets. There adorable enjoy 😊 my brother had the tiny turtle 🐢

Not a seizure, there is plenty of legal trade in these species globally with proper paperwork so no, not a confiscation. Just a friend looking to rehome so we took them on.

I'm also possibly not understanding some things. Recently you took in another tortoise and then I see you put the new arrival in the enclosure with others of the same kind. I thought that could introduce pathogens?

so winter time is coming, and the low can be 50 ish and i wanted to know what kind of heating buld or ceramic is safe to use at night.
