Kamil sahab, the most important aspect of urban life is lack of community support, which is very important for self sustained, maintenance, security and development. The concept of a mohallah holds the key to this concept. How can this be incorporated in urban master planning?
First of all, the camera was swimming all over the place and Kamil Saheb himself was walking around. This was quite unsettling for the viewer. He should have been sitting down at his table and the camera should have been fixed on a tripod. More importantly, the person interviewing this great man doesn't know how to ask the right questions. Example: I could not understand his questions, and the camera for some reason moved again to show us the ceiling and the walls while Kamil Sahib continued to walk around the room. In a nutshell, this is Pakistan where people do not even have the basic skills for doing interviews. A great visionary like Kamil Sahib deserved better, and if I had had anything to do with this benighted country, I would have given this great man carte blanche freedom to plan and rebuild Lahore and other cities with total control and management. The streets of Lahore are decrepit and dead, having been built without planning permissions and vision. There is still time however, while Kamil Sahib is still around to share his vision and expertise.
Lahore was beautiful as planned by British more green trees and shrubs and wider streets nowadays it’s brick and cement everywhere narrow lanes no playgrounds with play structures in the park in the developing communities! It’s just the greed to sell more and more plots and make money .
wish the video could have been made more detailed, while highlighting aspects of the masterplan on paper. I find this clip bit candid and not thoroughhly bringing forth the issues.
