How To Change Transmission Oil and Filter - Dodge - Ram - Jeep - Dakota - Durango

- In this video we show how to change the transmission oil & filter on a Dodge Dakota but this is the same procedure for Ram, jeep, dakota, and durango trucks as well as some ram van and other vehicles. We show how to to drain the ATF+4 transmission fluid and remove the transmission pan from the truck and then remove the transmission filter to replace it with a new one. We also show the installation of a new transmission pan, filter, and gasket and torque the transmission pan bolts to 12ftlbs to spec. We pour in the new ATF+4 transmission fluid into the transmission and check the fluid level. Also we review a common leaking seal on these transmissions and how we fixed that issue.

I'm 17 and since I was 14 I wanted a dodge dakota with a 5.9 manual but they were out of my price range and I had to settle for the small block 5.2 which i still love. The color is almost the exact same and I just wrecked it and these video are helping me so much whith rebuilding it with my dad. This is one of my favorite channels on youtube

I was told the 5.2l auto doing this will make the trans freeze up?. My trans is sticking and the fluid is dark...im just at a loss if i should service the filter and gaskets or just take it into valvoline?

your video is old but I hope to get a reply. I changed transmission fluid on my Durango 5.7 2013. by manual it says drain and filter change should require 7.7 litres or aornd 8 Quarts and I have until now poured in 9.5 quarts and is still not reaching the minimum range for HOT level when tis cycled through the gears. I am worried about overfilling it but the dipstick says otherwise. seems like it might even take another 1.5 quart. there is no leak anywhere underneath which is visible its bone dry. Is there any possibility of an internal leak , like leaking into the transfer case or something or shall I go ahead and add more.
