  • This is a step by step guide on how to install the Nest Hello video doorbell in the UK with a chime and Google Nest Hub. I did not have a previous doorbell installed. I chose to go with a 12V set up connected to a Honeywell / Friedland D117 chime.

    Thanks for doing this video. Unfortunately not working for me... My Ding Dong doesn't Ding Dong :-( It did work on the very first ring when testing but no more. Have tried 16v abd 24v but that didn't help. The Google Minis work fine - just not the DingDong. Double checked the wiring - which is pretty simple realy. Hmm...

      hmm mine is still working flawlessly. can you post a video of your set up and I can take a look?

      @@ohshootvidz Hmm - I replied to my post last night! It's gone! Perhaps I didn't hit the reply button.
      I fixed my problem! In the settings there in an option to turn off the indoor chime - it was set to off! Fixed that, and it's all working fine.

      Curious to know if yours is still working perfectly? I had mine wired up like this and since moved. I’ve re-installed in the exact same way but it is no longer working!

      no worries happy to help! if anyone is having any delay issues reset all your devices forget them remove from the google home app and set them up again. After an update to the nest app i was experiencing 2min delays it is now down to 4-5secs after setting everything up again. :)

    Hey! This video is exactly what I needed, one question - the chime itself appears to be rated at 8V could it shorten the life of it by supplying 12V?

    • @ohshootvidz
      @ohshootvidz  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi see the diagram on the back of the chime it says transformer 8-16v see video th-cam.com/video/vR9XI-A2u50/w-d-xo.html or livewell.honeywellhome.com/honeywell_wp/wp-content/uploads/QSG-D117.pdf and accepts Optional external supply (transformer) 8V/12V AC. I've had this set up for 7months now and haven't had any issues. My kids push the doorbell multiple times when they come back from school but the chime and transformer perform flawlessly.

    Thanks for this video. Followed this exactly to install mine. One question; do you notice a slight hum from your transformer?

    • @osmantui
      @osmantui 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi @greyowl666 make sure your connections are tight take the wires out and refit them solved the humming issue for me. I also followed this set up.

      @@osmantui thanks, @greyowl666 please try this. My transformer does not make any humming noises. I suppose it could be a loose connection.

    Has anyone taken this a step further and added a 2nd chime? I know it's not an issue to do so and have bought a second D117. I understand it's a case of tapping into the original wires which run from Chime 1 to Transformer and Chime 1 to the Bell. My question is....do I need to change the transformer wiring to accommodate the second chime? My Protek Transformer is wired to 0V and 12V as per Shoots instructions. I have the option of 12V, 16V and 24V terminals.

    I have installed it and the d117 just gave a very weak vibration sound instead of loud and clear ding dong , really frustrating. Should i try to connect to 8v and 24v to produce a 16v ? I guess it maybe related to not enough power to the chime?

    How is that working Nest needs 16v-24v to work properly ?

    • @osmantui
      @osmantui 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It works I followed these steps exactly. I think they did an update Here’s what Google says:
      Nest Hello needs to be powered by wires delivering 12 - 24 V AC and at least 8 VA (in Europe)or 16 - 24 V AC, and at least 10 VA (in North America).
