I’m considering using a chameleon cage for the ootheca that was laid in my house. I’m wondering if you recommend that it be plexiglass or glass versus mesh all the way around and if so if you could explain what the what the difference is and why?
I was reading they aren’t the e best for pest control since they move around a lot and also are harmful to good pollinators for the garden like moths, butterflies and bees.
You are awesome! I’m going to build a mantis habitat for my grandsons. They will be so excited next time they spend the weekend!
I love that you care more about the mantid more than the look
Why the extra “Oooo”? It’s not just “ootheca”, not “oo-ootheca”? Genuinely wondering if I’ve been wrong this whole time.
My dad fund a pray mantis and caught it so now I’m trying to find and enclosure.
This is awesome. I hope to find these locally. I would love to have these guys to keep pests at bay :) this is so cool
Hello from Winter Park Orlando, Fl
you need to boil in water the wood before put in the enclosure because have many bacteries that can kill your mantis
Awesome setup. How do you secure the top of a fish tank for mantids? Do you use a mesh screen under the lid or just leave it with the lid only?
It's not OO it's just a long O for Ootheca , Ooth-eca
Just wanted to let you know
Thanks for letting me know how to set up my first mantis tank ❤👍👍

I want one!
What was that plant called?
That is NOT a Carolina mantis ootheca!!
The "big green" mantids (if larger than 3-4"), is an invasive species.
Thanks for using the carolina mantis and not the chinese ones!
