- Every year Cousin Jack and I venture into an old trout fishing hot spot to catch a few feeds. 3+ pounders are still common in these waters. Looking for a 5+ pounder this year. Hope you enjoy the video and the tight-line action.
Wow. I know you realize how blessed you are to be able to be in landscape like that. Absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us!
Cody, I promise I will take the time to make a scenic video for all of you. I'll show you views that will amaze you all.
@@NLGhostWolf I am amazed at how many trout there are in that one small section of stream. Wish I could see more of that stream.
I'll be bringing you more and more of this river this summer
For sure
Wow what a trip ! Those are the days you dream about ! Thanks for taking us along Charlie .
You are most welcome my friend
Yes indeed
You need to get a net.. Peg and I had bets when you were going to be sitting on the bottom 😄.. awesome video
Those rocks are some hard to walk on. The size of a basketball and covered in slime. I roll my ankle every time I go there. And I had a net with me, hardly use it. Just leaving big trout for others to hook into. LOL
Can't wait for these days to be upon me. Really missing home. Thanks for sharing brother!
no problem, those days will be here before you know it.
Beautiful . I am heading to six lakes
Simply beautiful. Thank you for the wonderful video. 🙂. It made my day.
Glad you enjoyed it! best of luck
Yes
Great fishing Charlie!! Man that was constant action. And great practice for the salmon rivers. Excellent spot. One to savour for sure 👍
You got that right my friend, I'll take you guys to a place I haven't been in close to 40 years this summer. We use to catch amazing trout and salmon there. I'm looking forward to visiting this one gem of a spot.
1 of your best videos for sure
thanks
Great video!
Thanks for watching
Good watching you and cousin jack for sure
We had done this since I was a boy. Been fishing with cousin Jack since he moved back from Ont. I'm guessing over 45 years ago. It was always Dad and Jack with me tagging along. Never missed to many fishing trips I can tell you. Loved ever one of them. Back then we could still catch 4 salmon each, every day. Salmon was a staple food for us, we had it weekly growing up.
Yes

😆😆

You've got that right my friend
Yes
This 1 is also deserving of 10000 wicked video and spot.u got it done.
Agreed
❤❤
Best fishing video for sure
Glad you enjoyed it
It sure looked like Fun Charlie! And a heck of a nice Trout! In the beginning you mentioned the slime covered basketballs in the water, I hate that in a river. You would think that with all the water they'd be clean!! 😂
I pray you are well and that Mrs. GhostWolf is still recovering well. May God Bless you guys and hold you through this time of recovery.
We are doing great thanks for asking, and up river where it flows from higher elevations the water is crystal clear and no algae can be seen on the rocks, extremely easy walking. But in the level valleys where this river flows and water moves slower, the algae appears and walking can be a nightmare...
@@NLGhostWolf ya most ours are super slippery from alge.
Great comment
You guys certainly got it rough lol
Keep the videos coming
Cheers
it's rough but someone has to do it, LOL
Nice honey hole. Don't forget you dip net next time.
Yes indeed
Now that’s the spot I would love to be. 🐠
Yes this is a good spot for big trout. Haven't seen a 5 pounder in quit some time but every year we see 3 pounders there.
Me 2
Great spot and great time.
It sure is!
Yep
Great fishing. I know you didn't want to catch all them Trout so that's why you pulled the hock out of their mouths. LOL Great Feed, Great Memories, what more can you ask for. Good catch guys.
Right on, I'm real good at conservation through incompetence LOL
@@NLGhostWolf Hahahaha.

There's no mistaken the sound of a hardy !!!!

Hello Sir. Great video. I am also from Newfoundland and this is my first year fly fishing, I wanted to ask you a few questions. Sorry if the questions seem silly and sorry for the long post. 1. I was wondering your setup for trout fishing when it comes to rod, reel, line and leader. Also would you recommend this setup for a beginner like me? 2. Do you change flys throughout the season when it comes to dry vs wet flies? Or is using dry or wet flies a personal preference? 3. Is there such thing as barbed flies or no? are you allowed to use them for trout? I know all salmon have to be barbless but was unsure about trout. 4. Do you change your setup for salmon fishing or do you use the same as trout?
Well I see what I can answer for you, lets go;
1) I just changed my trout fishing set-up reel wise this spring from my Hardy Viscount 150 to a Medalist which was my very first reel I started salmon fishing with 48 years ago. These reels were on my 8 foot/ 5 weight/ 2 piece Redington Rod. And I can't remember my Fly line type. Nice for catching trout, it's an easy casting rod with nice action.
2) I change flies many times throughout the day for trout because their little needle like teeth are hard on flies. Depending on the fishing conditions I use a wet fly with a half hitch or a dry fly. Nice to disturb the surface water to trigger a strike from the trout.
3) When fishing from salmon you have to pinch close your barbs, when fishing in any scheduled waters you must use barbless flies, even if you are catching trout in a salmon river. For all none scheduled waters you can use barbed hooks/flies.
4) My salmon fishing set-up is a TFO BVK 4 piece/ 8 weight / 9 foot rod and I use a Hardy Viscount 150 (that use to be my trout reel but I retired my Hardy Perfect and replaced it with my Viscount. My Salmon fly line is 8 weight Anadro from Scientific Anglers.
When fishing in locations where I can catch 3+ pound trout I use my salmon fishing rod.
Hope this helps
Wow what a comment
Would u be able to steer me in a good direction near gander nl . Love to catch some nice trout not familiar with the ponds around here .. love to go fishing by myself in the early mornings and evening great pass time .
I have never fished out around the Gander area? But years ago they had some outstanding trout fishing and it was very common to catch 2 lb trout there in a lot of the ponds/lakes in that area from what I was told.
Wish I can salmon fish
It sure is a lot of fun
It was painful watching you lose all those nice trout. Was your hooks dull ? Bugs the crap out of me. I remember the feeling well.
Barbless flies,
Is this Lloyd's River?
It could be?? ;-)
Where is this?
Newfoundland Canada
Dipnet wouldn’t go astray
Sad thing is, I have one on the bench behind me.
