    Great content!
    I am so excited to teach Spanish!
    I spent the better part of 5 years traveling around Latin America, and I became fluent in Spanish at 25 years of age. I am currently enrolled in an alternative teaching program to teach Spanish, but as I will be around 8 months to get into the classroom, I've decided to get my CDL. A company will be paying for my training and I will be creating videos during the process and sharing as much as I can for everyone else out there interested in driving! I begin on the 31st.
    I would like to teach now, but I have not been able to find any districts that will allow me to teach without a license. For reference, I'm in Ohio!
    Take care.

    my buddy quit his job as a teacher after he read a webpage called 'The six functions of school' by alexander inglis, it exposes the hidden curriculum of the school system, its quite shocking really, its been kept out of the mainstream because i doubt one would want to become a teacher if they read it.

    • @heyveeb
      @heyveeb ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I looked into it and it's really stretching. Being a teacher in the American school system is already a lot to deal with. It's a failing system. Nothing to hide. It's pretty obvious. There's enough going on already to make teachers want to quit. The six functions don't even hit on the bulk of the everyday issues teachers go through. They focus on themes like, "controlling students, dumbing them down, and trying to cut students off from breeding." Then why spend any time lesson planning? Why show up daily? Why have professional development meetings? Teachers are trying and so are admin. Sure, there are some people who are disconnected from what goes on in the classroom who run things. There's definitely a capitalism issue at play, but schools were made to give students opportunities to learn, grow, socialize, and be a help to their chosen community. This study could have pointed out real issues that need attention in the school system, but instead, focused on fluffy ideas around "an unknown entity going after students to make them fail". Like, why would anyone want a student to fail? In fact, many schools are preventing failure. 40% is the lowest you can give at many schools right now. If grades aren't the most important aspect of learning anymore and social emotional learning is becoming a practice, at least schools are shifting importance on what matters. There's corruption for sure, and a lot of that is, indeed, due to political influence, criminal minded individuals in public spaces, but not this imaginary sinister ghost implanting chips of conformity into our kids. Students are given plenty of opportunities to express themselves in modern day schools. Their worst fears are being unalived by shootings right now. They are far less worried about whether or not they are going to be one of the "fittest" who survives the tragedy of assigned seating. There needs to be more order in schools, but also more love. There are moments of fun, but with too much fun, there's chaos. Chaos is distracting and nothing will get done in class or in society. If your friend left teaching because of reasons like, "schools make kids confused", then he must've really been looking for a reason to quit. But he didn't even have to look that far. He only needed to look around. It's a whole mess. But not for the reasons Alexander was saying. That's my take as a person who left teaching and is now going back in. I know the BS I'm getting back into. But I also see the good (this response isn't a personal attack on you, I'm just sharing my opinion on the six functions and it really doesn't resonate, is all).

      @@heyveeb why would some one want students to fail ? Cuz then they would be dumb and keep on working for big corporates and make them money instead of making money for themselves . Schools are places where kids get trained to be slaves . Its literally jail but u get to go back home after 4 pm . They place so many restrictions on you , u cant question teachers u cant get up from ur desk , u have to sit for hours , u ask permission to fucking take a piss , u have to ask before doing anything , it makes you controllable for the govt so that when ur adults u wont question anything what they do and do everything they tell u .

    • @heyveeb
      @heyveeb ปีที่แล้ว

      @@abdulbari-_- LOL 😂 You sound like you haven't been to a school or taught at one. There are many different kinds.
      I encourage my students to ask questions. Students need to ask to go to the bathroom so that we know where they are at all times for safety reasons. They are children.
      The students aren't slaves. The teachers are haha 😂 We do so much for so little.
      The class is what you make it. I also have activities for my students so we get up and walk around and get involved.
      I used to teach dance so hell no, we weren't sitting much. Ever heard of an Art, Elective, Special, or CTE class? Those classes help kids express themselves creatively during the day and give them insight into working in creative/business or trades. And as for the core classes, you don't think it's wise to give people in our society the opportunity to learn Math, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies? Some people in our world would die to go to school and learn something with a group of kids. Americans and other similar countries are spoiled and take school for granted. Plus, ruin it. Not because they want to make society better but make it worse. Those people have too much time on their hands because they aren't doing anything productive. And maybe some evil person out there in a swivel chair wants us all to be corporate slaves, but it's not teachers who are trying to make schools better (and aren't making a shit ton of money doing so), and are spending our own money while we're at it. Do schools need revision? Yes. All things in society need to be updated from time to time. Are schools terrible to an extent, yes. But not for the reasons you are saying. Some of it is a societal perspective that would need to be shifted and I agree that schools need severe reform because of other issues in our society that tie in:
      1. Mass shootings/violence, which ties into the health crisis and gun issues. Get those under control and that will help our kids not kill each other or themselves.
      2. Entitled American Students. Those who are ungrateful for a free public education and don't value education since it's free and required. Americans want things handed to them without trying. But that's what school is! They already have the opportunities handed to them just by being born in America. But they don't see that because they are American. And that's why they need to gain perspective, which school helps with. But since they are so entitled, they won't pay attention to the outer world, let alone what the teacher is offering them for free in the classroom!
      ✨There are students in schools who aren't entitled brats. And they make our society better, already. It's the entitled ones who think they are above everything, hanging out in the bathroom, talking about "I don't need school" and drawing d*cks on the wall. They aren't doing anything to make school better, like getting involved in the many programs offered. They are self-centered, thanks to being born in a country that offers them a free education. Some of them probably need emotional support beyond the classroom. They need attention their parents may not be giving them. They need love or guidance. And their behaviors are a cry for help. But many students are taught by the Internet (and our society) that everything is about "me", and won't take any responsibility for their behaviors, or try to be good/helpful people. They still have time to learn, but if they aren't open to trying to do anything good in life, it's not school to blame. They just aren't taking advantage of opportunities. I'm especially talking about high school students. If these kids don't try in school, that doesn't mean they'll never amount to anything. But it might be an indicator that they don't value opportunity and won't do much for society or for themselves since they think they are above educating themselves. Educating yourself is the most important lesson teachers want to get across. Without that drive to learn, grow, and be a part of a community, where will you end up? Probably not at school...unless you're skipping school to do something productive/useful/meaningful. In that case, I might be on your side!

    All School Teachers should work 12 months a year. When classes are not in session, Teachers could do Administrative work and perform other tasks, based on their skill-pool attributes. In the long run, this would save School Districts money in that they wouldn't have to hire as many people to perform non-teaching jobs. Physical plant duties could also be done in that manor. Simplistically hat better way to fix the furnace, by a Shop Teacher with help from Industrial Arts Students (if in session). Schools being self-sufficient, will minimal exceptions, is not only good & practical education, but more cost effective & easing the tax burdens on residents of the District. Any to be more cost-effective to a School District, WITHOUT compromising the Educational standards for the students, would be a feather in the cap for the learning process. School Districts, based on their relative student body size, should not have to have an Assistant Principal in EACH school building. They should travel back & forth between the schools, on an as-needed basis. Another and even more practical cost-cutting measure was mentioned at the onset of this writing. The idea of utilizing School Teachers all year long would be a PROFOUND way of Districts getting more-bang-for-the-buck. Hypothetical situation: If a Teacher was employed by a School District for 40 years, they only actually performed 30 years of work. Another much-needed change, for School Districts in general, would be to contour sessions based on the local weather. In other words, in School Districts that ensure harsh winters, have the three-month-off sessions then. It would not only be more practical with respect to not having snow days or putting students & bus drivers at risk, but also taking away the necessity to have so much time off for the Holidays. It would be a win-win situation for all. I'm surprised this has never been implemented in the past?

      If teachers had to do work 12 months a year, we would simply have no teachers. Honestly it sounds like this comment is coming from a place of jealousy that teachers have so many breaks. Never mind the fact that they still are doing work during breaks a lot.
