  • This video features a pair of beat up Allen Edmonds Carlyle plain toe Oxfords that I picked up at a thrift store. Although they looked awful, and the heels were shot, the leather uppers are not torn or cracked. I replaced the worn out heel top lfits, and re-finished the edges of the heels and soles. I then stripped the shoes down with Saphir Renomat and then acetone. I applied a custom Patina with Fiebings alcohol leather dye, followed by Saphir Renovateur mink oil based conditioner. I then polished the uppers with Saphir Medaille D'Or medium brown and light brown cream polishes, followed by my signature mirror shine on the toes with Saphir Medaille D'Or Mirror Gloss.

    Your restorations are always amazing - the thing I love most about shoes is I find they gain their character and best look the more you wear - so used shoes are a dream since someone else has already done the work for you! Robert, I noticed that you got a really cool poster the 'Oldsmobile'... I fell in love with that car the first time I watched the film 'Evil Dead' starring Bruce Campbell - I highly recommend it if you've not seen. Sam Raimi the director has the same Oldsmobile pop up in other films he did (like Drag Me To Hell). Brilliant stuff!

    I have waited all month for this great polish video! Thank you for another great classic shine video! For Renomat I always wear a mask it helps for sure along with a window or doing it outdoors cuts down the smell. Also great soundtrack as always.

    The cognac tones in the uppers match the medium brown of the soles so so well! great job!

    When I saw the color difference and you chose Reno Mat, I said to myself: “Robert, nope. Don’t do that. Go acetone” 😂 Now you just wasted a good deal of Reno Mat. Now worries, happen to me all the time. I think Reno Mat will be enough, and end up not being nowhere near what is needed. And BTW, I don’t think acetone is that bad for leather. I’ve stripped my strands a couple of times already testing different patinas, and the leather still feels pretty nice. Renovateur goes a long way preserving the leather and keeping it fresh and hydrated. Overall great job. Love the heel and sole edge. I might try that to my brown shoes, sanding the edges and using polish instead of edge dressing, which is too dark.

    Great video Robert. This shade of brown is my favorite, the shoes came out beautifully!! You rubbed about $83 or $103 US elbow grease into those puppies! Well done!!

    The creases?

    • @CobblerBob
      @CobblerBob  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You'll never be able to completely eliminate the appearance of the creases on a used shoe, and it also depends on the quaility and cut of the leather as to how severe they are.
