@@ianmiller8399 Wait that's not on PURPOSE???? IT'S A TYPO?!?!?? D: I just got off work and was super excited to see some God shenanigans. Only to see this. My disappointment is inmeasureable and my day is ruined
Wow... on Twitter when Seth posted The World Tree, he said he would probably end up doing an AtO episode using it to fetch out tons of Gods, and I told him he better call that episode Against the Gods. Not yet Seth, not yet!!
Against the Gods is actually a new subseries of AtO where he revisits old decks that did well on stream to see if they're still good in the 2021 meta. It's like a crossover with Meme or Dream This will be the series' last episode
Since it's been a while since people have seen Ad Nausium, game 1 he was dead because the new ad naus draws its entire deck, uses 2 simians, then manamorphose into 2 blue for thassa's oracle
15:20 I think it is probably better to go Forest, pass. If you don't play the elf and leave up Veil, it protects against discard, and if they don't have a discard spell, Veil protects the t2 elf to still allow for a t3 Tamio through a Push.
When the Doubling Season got hit with the Soul Tithe, you could have cast Aether Gust on your upkeep to put Doubling Season on top of your library, then drawn it again that turn and recast it. The Soul Tithe would have slowed you down one turn, but you'd still have the win the following turn. Granted, they had another Soul Tithe, but you didn't know that ;)
You should have put Samut the Tested instead of/with Jace, Architect of Thought since her Ultimate searches for TWO PW's. Also, here's some other PW's you could've slipped in here: Chandra, Flame's Catalyst; Teferi, Temporal Archmage; Nicol Bolas, God-Pharaoh; Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker; Jace, Unraveler of Secrets; Sorin Markov; Ajani, Mentor of Heroes; Rowan Kenrith; and Elspeth Tirel.
Why not play Samut the Tested in this deck? Its ultimate functions nearly identical to that of Jace, Architect of Thought in this deck while also having some medicore removal on the minus if it needs to be played fairly
It's hard to find room for all of the sweet planeswalkers. I think in general Samut is just worse than Jace because if we don't have Doubling Season I'd rather have the mini Fact or Fiction to try to find Doubling Season than removal most of the time.
That makes sense. I had built a version of this deck after the first Against the Odds episode with it and only played a couple FNMs with Samut before I shelved the deck. Modern is also in quite a different place now, so the 2 damage from Samut doesnt go as far is it had in the past either
I really enjoy how doubling season appears to be bugged on MTGO too. There are several times when Seth activates the plus on any planeswalker with doubling season in play and it adds the normal amount of loyalty instead of double. Example of this happening @34:04
It's not bugged. Doubling Season reads "If an effect would put one or more counters on a permanent you control, it puts twice that many of those counters on that permanent instead." Adding counters to activate Planeswalker loyalty abilities is not part of an effect, it's part of the cost.
It's weird, but that's actually how it is supposed to work under the rules due to some weird technicality of adding loyalty counters being a cost rather than an effect.
You made two mistakes with your math. 1.6% would be with 6 coins not 5. Also the 3.125% for five coins would the odds for getting 3 extra turns in one specific combination of wins and losses instead of the odds of getting 3 extra turns with any combination of wins and losses.
I'm excited to try something similar in Historic or Standard with Vorinclex, in Modern I think Doubling Season is just better (mostly because its cheaper).
@@MTGGoldfish that makes sense :p i was thinking more in a "more copies increases consistency" kind of way. Can't wait for the Historic version to come out, though 😁😁
I would rather see against the odds on Historic sincerelly. Magic online looks so bad and modern is kinda boring format. I know this is a very personal opinion but from what i hear most online people play arena and historic is pretty hot right now.
@@cruetusnex i meant as sideboard. Seemed horrible against rock and spirits. Against rock he should have brought in settle the wreckage, and leave ugin. Theres an argument for aether gust as well.
"Man, Jund doesn't beat anything, does it?"...Lol
Thanks for the Content, Seth.
Proceeds to lose the match
It wasn’t even Jund
@@ianmiller8399 I'm just going to call Rock redless Jund from now on.

Every part of that was hilarious. The fact he lost, the fact it wasn't jund, everything
Sweet a whole new series 'Against the gods'!
Someone can't wait for the new standard.
I can’t believe they didn’t notice

5 colors. Mainboard Blood Moon. Literally Magic as Richard Garfield intended.

"you can kill us, but you're going to have to sit through us making Jaces for Days"
Since it's been a while since people have seen Ad Nausium, game 1 he was dead because the new ad naus draws its entire deck, uses 2 simians, then manamorphose into 2 blue for thassa's oracle
I remember when I first started playing magic seeing that original deck and that inspired me to get into modern.
The "you're still going to win but I'm going to make you sit through infinite Jaces" flavor of spite is my favorite flavor of spite.
i always love to see when oppenents playing decks like echantress, the match ups are so fun
“I guess we can just ultimate Ugin” gotta love that, in this deck, ulting ugin is something you can overlook lol

Seth doing his best Frozen impression in Match 2. “Let it go, let it go”
I'm a simple man. I see Arbor Elf, Utopia Sprawl, and a 5-color land base, I hit Like.

question about 31:17, why does Doubling Season not cause Jace to gain 2 loyalty on uptick?
MY FAVORITE DECK IS BACK! Hell yeah!
oh look my deck! :D
Guy at my LGS plays a version of this based on the 2016 version. But he plays maindeck ensnaring bridge and win with Chandra TOD emblem.

Ok games 2 and 3 made up for that
I just realized the art work for that Lilli is fhe art from the Japanese Lilli that was drawn by Yoshitaka Amano! I LOVE THAT ARTWORK!

Only one red source for blood moon? I feel like one more would help.
there are actually 9 red sources including the fetches. If you add the birds and utopia sprawl you get 17 red sources
Yeah, we're mostly trusting that fetchlands and mana dorks sold the issue.
doubling season into jace and with this tamiyo being one of the few other planeswalkers? lol, i play exactly this in a edh deck.

What about throwing in Chandra, acolyte of flame for making infinite bolas since you're running jacd castaway
I think its already infinite with bolas, it just doesnt really matter cause infite jace wins anyway

@@ianmiller8399 you’re right I was up late and thought it was only 3coin flips total and multiplied .25^3 for some reason.
The average would be 2.5 right? So three is a bit above average, but in the ballpark.

Seth saying “sexy hexy” in a TH-cam video makes me feel whole on the inside.

Next on against the odds... Jund
Match 5 was less double moon walkers and more walkers walkers walkers
Already sad this wasn’t after kaldheim and playing vorinclex as another doubling season.
Death by a 1000 loyalty.
