Man ur the only one that shows this double drain. I've been stressing about doing this because I've never done 2 side by side drains but here u are showing me my job again. Thanks you
Kerdi line drains are so much fun to install! I think 2015 in Santa Barbara I must have done 15-20 of those things. Even did the double. Demand for them have diminished around here. Think I’ve done 1 in the last year. people don’t like the maintenance required to have a trench drain...because dude, they get pretty gross under the grate if not cleaned often. Amazing work as always man!
Thank you Isaac. I am just about to do my tileable grate and I am thinking that there is no way that it is going to go as easy as the Schluter video shows it. I was expecting the same things to watch for that you illustrated. Great videos, you and Sal are my go to for new tiling techniques!
YOUR BAD ASS DUDE WHO CARES ABOUT YOUR WORK AND IS DOING YOUR INSTALLS THE CORRECT WAY!!!100%LEGIT TILE TRADESMAN KEEP ON WITH THE RIGHT WAY TO DO THINGS!TO MANY HACKS OUT THERE WITH THERE BULLSHIT WORK THINKING THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING AND OK WITH THERE SLOPPY ASS WORK !!DO TILE THE RIGHT WAY OR DON'TDO IT AT ALL!!!!100%LEGIT TILE COACH.
How about taping the drain and up the wall and tile with painters tape (or line with plastic sheeting) to prevent the grate from adhering to the drain? Also, Schluter should put some leveling feet under the grate so the height can be adjusted after tiling.
18:35 Looks really great. Like packing the linear drains with grout as well(even though thin set does work), as it helps “match” everything up & imo, blends together pretty well with everything else. Also like using my grout & caulk finishing tools for stuff like this, as they help pack the grout into the “air pockets/empty spaces” along with helps make a smooth profile w/o making a mess. But, everyone has their favorite tools for the job; it’s what makes seeing how other ppl do the “same job” interesting f cool, imo. Thx for this series Isaac; think the length of the vids was great. Enjoyed watching every bit of what you cut together for us from you & your crew👍🏻 Really excited to see the new “country bathroom” job you’ve got going in now. Cheers✌🏼 Your TH-cam channels homepage background pic(natural stone from biz website showroom), is one of my favs you guys’ have done. Love the colour, look, & feel. That bathroom is freaking awesome!
I just finished a linear drain shower. Its def true that those tiles will chip... have you thought of trimming it with schluter? After doing these Tilable linear drains, I'm not really impressed with the finished outcome. I removed the hair catcher in my last one so the wouldnt need to remove the cover as often
So I am curious because I may turn one of my bathrooms into a shower only without the tub anymore. But with all these videos I dont see a cleanout like in the overflow of a tub which catches hair. Is there anything in these new style drains to accomodate for that?
Just installed my tileable grate following your video. I really notice the unfinished edges of the tile though through the drain gap - It's a grey tile with a plain porcelain edge. What are my options to finish that edge? If I had known I could have installed tile edging before placing the tile. You would think the schluter directions would mention that.
Can you do a herring bone pattern that continues across a tileable grate with approx 3 by 10 inch tiles or will that leave too many grout lines to deal with on the grate. Concerned about grouting on the cantilevered portion hanging over on the wall side
Isaac, this shower is massive and amazing! I was curious about the glass shelf in the niche, how does the outside edge of the bullnose inside the niche tie in with the glass? Do you have a sketch?
Hi. I'm installing this drain. It is in the middle of the room so that it could be stepped on. The tiled piece is 'clinking' again the drain body. Medal on medal. What would you suggest? Thank you.
Hello sir . great looking project . Quick question , i notice on these floor tiles you are not using a leveling sistem , now i do know that on some tiles its not required because of how straight they are but is there a clasification that tells us what tiles are bent and which are not ?
How much height did you need on the bathroom floor to get the linear drain on the back wall of a large shower like that? Did you recess it ~1" and raise the floor ~1" like you did in previous videos? I recessed my shower pan subfloor but only got 1" from the 3/4 plywood + 1/4 hardie board. I can maybe get another 1/4" from waterproof membrane but its a 52" deep shower so if I go by the 1/4" per foot slope that's around 2". Thanks.
Wonderful job Not durable enough for me the tile edges will fail in the long run I'm afraid. Thumbs up for all your content. I'm building bathrooms from a to z, love it , thanks to u in using ardex 8+9 to. Hi from the Netherlands
I wonder if you could figure out how high you need (assuming it’s all level) install it out of the drain (like on a table) to attain 100% coverage then replace it into the drain.
I am planning to install a tileable 24 inch drain with 1'' octagon tiles. What did you do for the egdes as a 1/2 inch tile can crack pretty easily on the edges of the grate with the slight over hang.
Hey Isaac, I have a customer looking to do this same linear drain, but I’m having a hard time finding it available anywhere. Any tips on where to get it? Thanks!
Hi Issac, great videos I love your teaching style and your experiments! I’m just curious, knowing you put down the 8+9 water proofing I still feel like it needs a bead of caulking from the bottom edge of the patterned wall tile to the edge of the drain pan. Is this necessary or is the grout layer sufficient? Also, curious why you didn’t go over the veridical 2” seems of the Kerdi with the 8+9, for all the water damage your client had I would have been so nervous about leaks I would have painted the walls too 😅 haha that’s just me though. P.S. The drain flange was giving you such trouble, I was thinking it might be easier to notch or cut the corners with scissors beforehand....☺️
Where's the video showing all the tiles going down? I checked your channel; it's not there. Please check that you did not set it to unlisted or private by mistake.
nice work. i feel the music is too loud and its louder than you. this particular install of grate will mold as there is tons of joints for mildew to form. less grout joints around line drains is key. lots of maintenance for this shower to be cleaned. woohoo
It’s all good until some dumb plumber doesn’t know about them. Dropped a floor 3 inch for a curbless. I go back and plumber set drain flat on floor and hooked it up. ( he cut bathroom floor to gain access to under that area ( it was a add on with no access) So now I have a drain 3 inch below bed Uggggg.
Looks great Issac, but unfortunately it looks like you put your valve seals in backwards. It has a angle to it that is supposed to run back into the shower.
Steve seems to be a nice guy to trust and work with. Cheers
Dude, just get a hotel room and call it a day... ....

Best of luck!
Love the shower love the craftsmanship but damn that tile is already due for a update
Your channel is the best for tiles!!! I'm gonna try my own bathroom soon and your videos gave me confidence. Thanks man
lmao that guy's face when he was cutting the tile 2:47
It looks like his sexually assaulting the tile!😂😂
Haha that's funny before I seen this comment I thought same thing
Whatever it takes to concentrate. Not an easy cut.
That's pure focus.
😡
So glad I found this video im installing one tomorrow
Awesome. Those large floor tiles may be a bit difficult, but they look really good.
Your the man. Great job. Professional work
Im suprised they dont just have a 'press to popup' solution.
That key for cleaning will be lost in first week..
Beautiful job, coach.👍

Any ideas regarding the placement of a hair catcher? 😬 I love this idea, but I’m thinking about maintenance and future inconveniences….

Is it possible to install this style of drain with a river rock floor tile? 😅

Отличная работа!

Is there a parts number for this? I'd like a matte black one?

You rock bro
Are you going to have a reveal of the low access remodeled bathroom that you did? I assume this is part of that bathroom
Isaac, this shower is massive and amazing! I was curious about the glass shelf in the niche, how does the outside edge of the bullnose inside the niche tie in with the glass? Do you have a sketch?

Is it ok to use unmodified thin set on top of the Schulter membrane. I read that it should be done with unmodified thin set …
Wonderful job
Not durable enough for me the tile edges will fail in the long run I'm afraid.
Thumbs up for all your content.
I'm building bathrooms from a to z, love it , thanks to u in using ardex 8+9 to.
Hi from the Netherlands
Why you line up drain joint with floor joint???? No other joints line up?
Both drains should be spun 180 deg... FYI
I wonder if you could figure out how high you need (assuming it’s all level) install it out of the drain (like on a table) to attain 100% coverage then replace it into the drain.
So cool.
Wish i could show you the Kerdi grate drain photos of mine I did with 1/2" Carera marble octagon tiles. It was flawless...
I am planning to install a tileable 24 inch drain with 1'' octagon tiles. What did you do for the egdes as a 1/2 inch tile can crack pretty easily on the edges of the grate with the slight over hang.

that's a nice bathroom. although i am a simple guy so i'd opt for a different tile.
Hi Issac, great videos I love your teaching style and your experiments!

What type of thinset did you use here?
Where's the video showing all the tiles going down? I checked your channel; it's not there. Please check that you did not set it to unlisted or private by mistake.
Where's the tiling video in this series?
What kind of grout do you use for your showers?
nice work. i feel the music is too loud and its louder than you. this particular install of grate will mold as there is tons of joints for mildew to form. less grout joints around line drains is key. lots of maintenance for this shower to be cleaned. woohoo
Where was the filing video?
Good work. That wall tile is egregiously ugly but I know it's the homeowner's choice but damn that is ugly even new.
Aren't you supposed to use a notch trowel ?
It’s all good until some dumb plumber doesn’t know about them.
Dropped a floor 3 inch for a curbless.
I go back and plumber set drain flat on floor and hooked it up. ( he cut bathroom floor to gain access to under that area ( it was a add on with no access)

Uggggg.
Why didn’t you video yourself . building the tile work
What about tape? Next day just peel and scrape off any thinset
That’s what I was thinking. This seems needlessly sloppy and messy, he’s getting thinset everywhere
You should run a piece of plastic sheathing down the drain opening to protect it from any motor going down it.
Huh?
Looks great Issac, but unfortunately it looks like you put your valve seals in backwards. It has a angle to it that is supposed to run back into the shower.
That drain it looks like a pain in the butt to work with.
Jesus that tile is so ugly
Most probably an interior designer chosed it too lol.
It is already out of style.
Jesus had nothing to do with that tile
Blue tape that fucken channel bro
I down voted because of the adverts
Cant believe all that work for such an ugly pairing of tile.
