You should be super happy. I know it takes a lot of work, but I’m glad you decided to continue with the faring, it made a world of difference. It looks amazing. I have to continue watching the build. Thank you for posting it. Texas
UN REAL! I know how much this thing has fought you all the way and I can't like it's driven me to do what I am doing with my build. But the finish, man, it has to be worth it. How many hours have you spent just looking at it. Then moving, and looking at it. And wondering how the hell it looks like it does from where you started. Awesome work. Now come do mine.
Thank you. A lot of my buddies along the way saw it in. Several colors and stages of fairing lol. It turned out super nice. Now that it’s flipped over you don’t see as much, but topside is moving along pretty quickly. I’m headed tot he dmv today to get trailer registration then probably going to put the boat in at the ramp just to see how it sits in the water tomorrow afternoon
Looking good. The fairing never seemed to end on my build. Fill one divet sand it just to find out I made another one. It feels good to make everything look perfect but I don't think the fish will care about your strakes.
My son found your build and is so ready to build one for his senior project. Before we started spending money I wanted to ask a few questions. The plans you order, do they come with complete step by step instructions or do you have to figure it out on your own? I looked for a complete video series from Salt Boatworks but just find short segments. Did the cart you have for the build have plans for it or is that something you came up with? There is so much different information and thoughts I just wanted to ask someone that has created something at the level of what we can strive to achieve. We are down in Corpus Christi, TX if anyone knows of someone that has completed one of these with success. I would like to see one in person and get some do's and don'ts.
The plans come with some notes at the bottom, but there is not a comprehensive list of directions. The short videos on salt Boatworks TH-cam get you the general idea on how to put things together. I found them very useful as I had no idea what I was doing when I first started. The cart I built around the actual cradle that salt boatworks gives you a template for. In his videos you see the 5-7 boards that support the hull while you build it and there are plans for how to cut those boards out. I just went a step further and added some bracing and put it on some heavy duty casters so I was able to spin the boat around and move it to access some stuff in my garage. If you join the salt boatworks Facebook group there is a ton of info and several builds documented. Fishing with Hoang is another great channel and he built a 15’ from one of the original set of plans back in 2020. I know he is in south TX and loves to show off his boat. Post in the FB group and I’m sure someone could meet up so you can look over the boat. It does seem like you’re going to be drinking from a firehouse to start, but there is enough info and tips out there to really guide you through the process. I had no idea what I was getting into, but honestly I’d start to build another one tomorrow if I didn’t already have 2 boats.
Can you experienced folks teach me something? I want to re-gel coat my 16’ Privateer center console. I’m curious… why paint is used on some DIY projects instead of gel coat? Get coat is thicker and can take a beating for many years, creates a thicker barrier between the elements and fiberglass, can be wet sanded years later without rubbing through, and can last 50 years if taken care of. Thinly coated paint might last for ten years, doesn’t matter which paint is used. Why go through all that prep work then use paint? Four coats of sprayed gel coat is what makes sense to me but I’m not totally sure. Awesome skiff by the way, great job. 👍
Thank you. I didn’t have the means to spray paint in the garage so rolling it was the easiest way for me to do it. Alexseal is some pretty high quality stuff and I’ve already been able to wet sand and bled some imperfections

Thank you. It’s turned out pretty cool in the long run. Putting a motor on this week
Looking great man. Its amazing how smooth you got the hull. Keep it up!
Lots of work to go still!
Did you use a long board? If not you will extremely difficult to get rid of low spots. Looks great
I did use a long inline sander to finish it off. Boat turned out great thanks for watching
Looks amazing!!!

Oh I know lol. It’s funny how much time I’ve spent working on stuff you’ll never see and and the end of the day I’m not a professional
