MY BOAT IS SINKING! Changing out the front fishbox drain on a SeaVee.
มุมมอง 158หลายเดือนก่อน
My boat had a slow leak into the bilge and it was progressively getting worse over time. I got tired of my bilge pump kicking on offshore and wanted to be able to make a saltwater slurry brine in my front fish box. Bought a Gemlux stainless deck drain and changed out a small piece of the drain hose that had a small hole in it.

Rhodan Trolling Motor 16 Month Review Update & Tampa Bay Stone Crabs
With a full charge about how long could you troll with this Rodan?
Long time. We spot lock for hours the lithium 100 ah batteries last a long time. Unless your trolling for over 6 hours straight you be good. With 1 battery.
I’ve fished a 24 hour tournament with probably 10-12 hours on spotlock and it never died. Now if you’re actually using it to “troll” I’d imagine 4-5 hours tops with a boat as big as mine
How heavy is your boat? My boat weighs about 8500lbs.
Mine is about the same without fuel and gear. Full fishing load were likely around 11500
Very nice video. Not sure how your experience is, but replacing the lower units and getting them to seat back up can be a real PITA. They sometimes need some tapping with a rubber mallet to go on the last 1/2".
I did my 300’s and it was quite a bit more work considering I have 1800 hours on mine. These were silky smooth compared to that
@@LightningCapitalLiving Interesting...all three of my 425 lowers were kind of a chore to tap loose and back in place.
?
I've found a natural naked skull of a fish, excelent job
Thank you very much
🔥
Thank you so much I've been looking everywhere for a video like this
Absolutely. Glad to help
Beautiful sight
Fun trip for sure
Beautiful fish right there
So big. Haven’t seen a huge female snook like that in a while
@LightningCapitalLiving I haven't caught one yet but I'm going to one day 😀
I miss my 90 gallon reef tank. My Marroon clowns were laying eggs....😢😢😢
Wow that must have been so cool to see. Ours are still pretty young
I am buying a 17ft aluminum tunnel skiff a guy made out of his garage and I most likely will not have any receipts what do I do?
Just show FWC some picture of the build and you should be ok. I mean nobody builds a boat and doesn’t take any pics of the progress. They are just trying to weed out any possible stolen boats.
Is there any way you have found to get a title if owner has no title? Had this situation with a foreign panga.
I’d call the DMV and see. There has to be some kind of registration. If it was a foreign boat you should be able to title it as long as there is proof it’s not stolen.
Spelling of the world "gaff" is not correct buddy. The first letter is G, not J
Where did I spell it with a J?
I can hear Ed bassmasyer now. Would you just look at it?
Lmao
Awesome work.
Thank you very much. It’s still on the mantel in my office
Great video - thank you for posting this. Getting ready to do my first service on my XTO450s and this will be super helpful. One quick comment... On the Yamaha video "Gearcase Lubricant Exchange System How It Works" they say that you should leave the air vent hose connected for 5 minutes after you tilt the motor down to allow the air to purge from the lower unit. Not sure what issues it might cause if you don't do that but thought it was worth mentioning. Thanks again for a great video!
Thanks for that tip. Good luck with the install it’s totally worth saving the money on a mechanic. Just takes a little time.
Is there a pump that helps drain the water
No it is gravity fed. The drain is 3” lower than the livewell and if there is any residual water when the boat is on the trailer it drains out. Doesn’t take much of an angle.
Thank you for the video this is great inspiration
There's the problem right there if you pay attention to anything on Instagram and Facebook!
Oh no the haters are strong. The market for big trolling motors is so much more diverse than it was 4 years ago. Competition is good, but rhodan is still pretty good
😂@180 Tape Holder:Hey check out the 180 Tape Holder. If you do lots of taping and masking this is a time saver!!🔥🔥
Merci beaucoup ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Merci!
Can you show blue prints or video for the plumbing im working on mines currently and stuck at that part. Thank you
I’ll take a video when I get home tomorrow. Hoping no damage to the skiff during this hurricane
@@LightningCapitalLiving thank you so much, did not expect you to respond whenever is fine
Just posted a short video on my page under “shorts” doing a quick walkthrough. Let me know if you have any other questions about it
Stunning! 🐠 🐟
Thank you very much!
Turn those blues up
All good now with the AI lights
Great work on the boat. She looks absolutely gorgeous. Looks like you could solve the hatch leaking problem by adding a drain channel leading to the bilge. Best of luck. 👍👍👍
I’ve got some tubing that runs from the hatch drains to the bilge. I think the issue was my gaskets were not think ebough
@LightningCapitalLiving I have to lock my hatches down, or they will leak. Water lifts em just enough to get in the bilge when it rains a lot if it's not locked.
@@Darth-Betta I just need to add some thicker gaskets. They lock pretty tight for me
what steering wheel is that?
It’s a steering wheel they put in the back of tuna and lobster boats in the northeast. Call roses marine in Gloucester, MA and they can ship one to you. Wanted a smaller diameter wheel so I could walk around the console without hitting hit with my leg
wish i could experience FL just once
No better time than now
what is the percentage of hydrogen peroxide?
12%

@@LightningCapitalLiving thanks!!!!
Thanks for posting this! I have a 100 coming up on my 322. I wasn't looking forward to another $3k bill from the dealer! (owner of Code Talker in St Pete)
We will let the dealer do the 300 hr service next year, but might as well save what we can every 100 hour
@@LightningCapitalLiving - fwiw, for the lower unit, I figured it would be easy to make a stand so I did a quick search and came across a thread on The Hull Truth. A bunch of guys recommended the B&D Workmate. $100 at Home Depot. Done!
Two questions... 1) Did you put motors in neutral or in gear before you pulled lower? Was it tough to get it to align?. I struggled on a F150, but that lower is 3 times the weight. 🙂 2) I usually work on lowers by myself, but that 425.... definitely a 2 person job?
So these motors automatically go to neutral when the key turns off, so they were in neutral. Also very easy to slide in and out . If you had a ratchet strap I thing you could get it off by yourself, but once that last bolt comes out it’s going down for sure. I’m a strong dude but I wasn’t turning down any help with this
Great boat, which plans did you use??

that matt guy seems pretty sharp. bet he can't fish for shit though!
He knows how to fish. Just gotta get them to bite
You are lucky Mine been nothing but problem !! Gonna send back again this week
I’ve heard of some people having a lot of issues but they always fix them up quick
If i were your brother i would put you in the water. Lol
Fucking sick
I got another and a big big wahoo going right now as well
Nice bro❤
Going to be pretty cool when done
I’m not seeing the charger in there for some reason. Do you mind if I ask what type of charging system youre running?
We installed a 36v lithium charger behind the battery under the console.
Thanks for making this! Is there a way to get in touch? About to move forwards on an install.
Search for my name on Instagram and send a message
@ 14:17, I'm looking for the bracket you have bolted to the steering arm of the motor that the hydraulic attaches to so I can add hydraulic steering to my '99 Nissan. Did it come with the kit or did you get it third party? Thanks, good lookin rig.
Thank you. Yes, everything you see attached to the motor came with the hydraulic steering kit.
It should bolt up to your motor where you would normally have a tiller connection, then once tight it will also the hydraulic rams to move the motor left and right
@@LightningCapitalLiving Thank you.
My son found your build and is so ready to build one for his senior project. Before we started spending money I wanted to ask a few questions. The plans you order, do they come with complete step by step instructions or do you have to figure it out on your own? I looked for a complete video series from Salt Boatworks but just find short segments. Did the cart you have for the build have plans for it or is that something you came up with? There is so much different information and thoughts I just wanted to ask someone that has created something at the level of what we can strive to achieve. We are down in Corpus Christi, TX if anyone knows of someone that has completed one of these with success. I would like to see one in person and get some do's and don'ts.
The plans come with some notes at the bottom, but there is not a comprehensive list of directions. The short videos on salt Boatworks TH-cam get you the general idea on how to put things together. I found them very useful as I had no idea what I was doing when I first started. The cart I built around the actual cradle that salt boatworks gives you a template for. In his videos you see the 5-7 boards that support the hull while you build it and there are plans for how to cut those boards out. I just went a step further and added some bracing and put it on some heavy duty casters so I was able to spin the boat around and move it to access some stuff in my garage. If you join the salt boatworks Facebook group there is a ton of info and several builds documented. Fishing with Hoang is another great channel and he built a 15’ from one of the original set of plans back in 2020. I know he is in south TX and loves to show off his boat. Post in the FB group and I’m sure someone could meet up so you can look over the boat. It does seem like you’re going to be drinking from a firehouse to start, but there is enough info and tips out there to really guide you through the process. I had no idea what I was getting into, but honestly I’d start to build another one tomorrow if I didn’t already have 2 boats.
Why did you put the battery there? Doesn't the 322 have a spot for it in the console like the 282 does?
He didn’t want to lose any console space and it fit perfectly under the helm.
Where’s the SeaVee!
Oh she’s getting ready for a tournament this weekend. This is my buddies rig.
What are you netting fuel economy wise with an average load? 1.3, 1.4? Considering a 320b myself.
Fishing load 6 guys both wells full and 300# of ice we see 1.2. Would like to try different props because I have heard of 1.3-1.5 but seems like a stretch.
Hello! I have a v hull with the numbers messed up. No title. Or bill of sale. Was giving to me from a friend said it was a Georgia boat. So what you saying is i should just build it repaint it and then call them?
You would need to document the rebuild so they can see you paid taxes on all your materials, then yes, you should be able to get a home built title.
Did you take the yatch channel accros Florida bay or where did tou cut across to Marathon? Im doing the trip from Tavernier to St. Pete Saturday.
We actually just ran right across from Marco to marathon. Straight heading to 7 mile bridge as it was 8-14’ the entire way. Had to do a lot of crab pot dodging, but never had depth issues. Once you make the turn kind of SE past Marco Island you shouldn’t have any depth issues unless you’re running something huge. Your chart should be marked pretty good on depth. The most shallow part of the run was the initial turn around marco to cape sable. The more south and wide you make that turn the better. From there we just sat on autopilot cruising
Great thank you
What I would have done for the rigging tube is raise it up about 3 more inches and put a pvc elbow on the top and angle it in a detection where wanted can’t get inside.
All sealed up now so should be good to go.
Nice build. When installing the new outboard , hook up the motor to a battery so you can adjust the tilt and trim to where you can get it flush with the transom instead of fighting with the bolts to align them
Thank you for that. I did end up reading that somewhere and felt so dumb at first lol. Made a world of difference with a little trim
What if I have a 18 rinker with bill of sale, how can I go around on doing this.?
I’m assuming there was no title or registration with it? If you have a bill of sale the dmv should be able to find something on file for you under the previous owners name. If not, there are processes they can walk you through to get it retitled.
did you find out how?
@@inthenameofmyfather3836 yes I listed it in the video
This is impressive! Excluding the motor, how much did this cost you? For kicks, do a search for the guy who built his own yacht.... I have never seen anything like that before.
I watched a few videos of a guy in NY that was building a huge trawler. I was all in $6k for the boat before motor.
