    This is the kind of drills I really like. Setting things up and not just blasting the opponent all the time.

      haha. That's the kind of multitasking talent I can only dream of! I'm listening to Everton commentary but to be honest it feels similar to being punched in the face.

    I throw a jab and get hit by a counter jab in my forehead many times. After 1st time, I should just proactively do a lean back to slip the jab right? Would changing the jab to a shorten feign also give me extra time to finish the pull back and hit with my counter cross? I have problems where after a couple of jabs in a spar, I start eating counter jabs.

    • @myboxingcoach
      @myboxingcoach  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes Tim. Do exactly what you have described! Every time you punch or feint, do a defence (duck, slip, layback) then fire back.

    +Fran Sands Hi, I feel Mayweather would have used this tactic well vs Tommy Hearns, prime for prime compared to how Leonard struggled badly with Hearns jab until adjusting and overpowering Tommy.

    Pardon me for asking sir but aren't you supposed to take a step back with your rear foot when you do the layback

    • @antischocken4735
      @antischocken4735 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      George Abbott if you do a half step back, you cannot immediately throw back a straight backhand, because your stance is compromised due to bigger distance between your feet and also your distance towards your opponent has increased.

    it works also for southpaw?

    • @skotiskiller
      @skotiskiller 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      everything works also for a southpaw if he is fighting against a southpaw.if you are a southpaw and fighting against an orthdox you could do the layback and avoid your opponent straight right and then shoot your straight left.Watch Rigondeaux
