    Went straight to eBay to see if I could find one, £2200. Must be well sought after. Says they cost 10k new?
    Just to also add, your a legend with these projectors

    The new ones have their case made of crystal glass. My GOD!!!!!! CRYSTAL GLASS! No metal, no brittle plastic, no anything. If aliens designed a projector that would be the new SIM ones...... I think I have been using cheap toys until now........ Nice one Frank! Thansk for all your effort my friend!

      The styling is so nice. It's almost like a car designer is on the design team. They are very Italian. Top quality but incredibly nonstandard. (I'm Italian so it's okay).

    I love Sim2 as well. The Lumis is the best projector I have worked on.
    I own a Nero 3D-2. It is absolutely gorgeous.

      I can't quite afford one yet but I am keeping my eyes out for one of these. They are coming down in price and I even have a new lamp put aside for when I find one. They are just pure class in every way.

      Hey, I picked one up recently but it has a T3 lens which has a long throw which isnt ideal my setup. I don't have the remote and the manual comments that you have to use the remote to zoom +/- or via USB. The other optiion is to edit my Control4 system to include it and control it via IR but thats a bit of a faf. I dont suppose you know if its possible using the buttons on the back or how to do it via USB?

      @@control4diy You should be able to do it from the back by selecting the menu and navigating to the lens controls.

    • @control4diy
      @control4diy ปีที่แล้ว

      @@homecinemaguy5125 It only gives me 4 menu tabs at the top, the first two only work when a source is connected and the second two don't have anything to do with the lens. I can change the Keystone and some colour options but it's pretty limited. I cannot even see lamp hours anywhere? Maybe I'm on a old firmware?

    Its a brand I have never heard of but it certainly is well built. I bet there are not many dlp lamp models without colour wheels. Would be interested to have a comparison between two or three projectors this one included (when working) to see what makes it so special in the picture quality.

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That would make a great video. Sim2 uses a lot of optical quality glass in places where BenQ/Optoma/epson use polycarbonate. I have an old 720 (Ht300) that still looks amazing even with the lower resolution.

    Do you remember if there is a way to focus the lens using only the rear keypad? Or do you need the remote?

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I seem to recall you can use the arrow buttons and menu to change it but it's been a while. I want to say there is a button that says "focus" and "zoom" and then the arrow keys adjust it. Remote should work too but I'm pretty sure the button panel can do it.

    • @FixitFrank

      Hands down my favorite brand. I hope to afford a C3X once the prices drop a little more. I have owned some 720 models. Even at 720 the picture was beautiful. I do have a Domino 60 which is basically a BenQ W5000 that was modified by Sim2. It is nice but the other series blows it out of the water. Even the physical design is pleasing to look at. Kind of like if Enzo Ferrari designed a projector.

      No kidding? I'd be very interested. I don't know what I have that you would want but I am interested. Currently I have a BenQ HT1075 that might be good for you? It has really low hours and all new fans. I got it with literally 15 total hours on it. OR if there is something you are looking for, let me know what your needs are and I'll see what I can do. @@FixitFrank I like their designs and they're universally praised on the forums. I personally have a Digital Projection Highlite 3 Chip DLP and it throws the most beautiful picture I've seen and had the usuals, JVC NX7 the Sony's VPL's and a couple of laser DLPs, it comes down to the Optics and 3 Chip DLP look. Sometime in the future my goal is the Christie Griffyn.

    How are the fans mounted in these? It looks like some sort of rubber fitting.

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      yes, they have this annoying rubber plug setup that acts as a shock mount. Its kind of a pain to be honest to deal with. Its not uncommon to tear a few. Using needle nose pliers and taking your time is the best option. I have not found any tricks to replacing these.

    great struggle you are doing now. What is the method for same solution on 3LCDs projectors ?? I think you have not made that solution videos on 3LCDs projector. (light is ok but image of LCDs is not established).

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are correct. I rarely can find the proper parts and i do not have the specialized tools required to re-align the LCD panels. Epson will not sell parts to me and the used parts are hard to find. Most used parts do not have usable optic blocks since they are the part that fails mostly.
      I should do a video on why LCD projectors are so difficult for me to repair and why I do not work on them often.

  • @thedbcooperforum
    @thedbcooperforum 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have one but the throw distance is a problem if you have small rooms or area's to project. you need 20 feet for a 120 wide screen..

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I could see that. Especially if it has the 2-3:1.3 lens. I've worked on a few of these now for varying reasons and just love the picture and the idea of 3 DLP. I currently run a BenQ HT1075 that is great but waiting in the wings is a Digital Projection Division30XL or a Sim2 Domino 60. I'm hemming and hawing about picking up a Sim2 Nero 3D that needs repair but I keep running into 'decision stall'. The BenQ isnt bad, it has very low hours and looks good. To hang either the Digital Projection or the Domino 60, I need a new mount so maybe I wait until I find a C3X 1080 that needs work...
      If you can't get the image you want, it might be worth reaching out to Support at sim2. The tech is a genius and may have a lens option you can use. That's such a nice projector, I hope you are enjoying it to some degree at least.
      Also, Happy New Year!

    Some of these Sim2 projectors probably the earlier models have 3 individual colour wheels in them. The picture quality of Sim2 is second to none. To be honest if it's sent to sime2 they only replace boards as they have them sat on the shelf.

    • @Descalabro
      @Descalabro 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why would they have 3 color wheels? Isn't the purpose of a 3-chip DLP to not have color wheels at all?

    • @chessguru900
      @chessguru900 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Descalabro 3 chip dlps came out later. 3 c wheels one for each colour RGB if that makes any sense.

    • @Descalabro
      @Descalabro 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chessguru900 actually, I can't make sense of it. The purpose of the color wheel is to spin between RED, GREEN and BLUE, as well as bypass any color (while some color wheels have CMY as well). So, what would each of the 3 color wheel alternate between? Was it that each color wheel alternated between color and no color only? What did each color wheel segment contain?

    • @chessguru900
      @chessguru900 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Going back about 12 years. one of my service repair guys had one on his bench. He asked me to take a look at it and pointed out the 3 colour wheels. I have no specific recollection other than having witnessed there were 3 c wheels in there. You best contact sim2 regarding accurate details.

    a Big fix or a small fix

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hard to say. The Qualia-004 was a great(an expensive) projector back in the day. It is still pretty good even by todays standards. I know the lamp is pricey still. Something like $1100 for the xenon bare bulb. If the issue is one of the switches or the tab on the door that hits the switch, it is not a big deal to repair but if its a mainboard issue it may not be cost effective to repair. If you want to email me and discuss it, my email address is listed on the 'about page'.
