Thank you for such a beautiful animation! I am currently doing a research on the disturbances aggravated by shifting land use from swidden agriculture. This video encapsulates all of it
Thanks Stuart. More more information you can get in touch with: -Coalition against Land Grabbing (CALG) - Philippines -Batak Federation (Bayaan it Batak kat Palawan - BBKP) and facebook.com/Coalition-Against-Land-Grabbing-CALG-411975619002144/ Take care!
Thank you Alejandro!! Im a student of 10th grade and shifting cultivation is a small topic in my textbook. This gave me a clear understanding of the topic. It helped me a lot. Also the animation is just so interesting to watch! Love ittt 👏
Bruh, our AP human geography teacher gave us an assignment consisting of eight videos and eight questions to answer. That's roughly an hour's video; this is the first of the eight videos.
We also do the same technique but outside world has a notion that we are the destroyer of forest but that is not true. We practice shifting cultivation on a piece of forest land for only one season. After that field is left for recuperation for at least 10-12 years (earlier it was even 20 years or more). It's not wise to do cultivation on same plot of land for many years as it will lead to loss of soil fertility. Our cultivation does not go deeper than 6 inches below.
The problem ain't pollution (although it's one of the many), but the rapid degradation of land. In primitive times, the population pressure was relatively low, but that is no longer the case
"Indigenous people are the best conservationists" -this line makes only sense. Please don't hate the tribal people although they seem to have a distinct culture than us but believe me they are far more modern and civilised than us. RESPECT THE TRIBES.
The only thing is the fire causing pollution Otherwise everything else is so Good... This farming is best because it offers least damage to our Mother Nature👍
You said the soil does not support farming after the soil is exhausted. Is there anything that can be done to bring back the soil to life. By the way its wonderful looking forward to learn more from your channel 👍🏼

I don't agree with the exact method they are using being that it doesn't include a lot of other necessary agricultural methods to reach full productivity. Something more like what American hunters do makes more sense. They do smaller ground fires that allow certain plants to survive the fire to let other plants grow and rejuvenate the forest floor and the plains. We cant sacrifice local ecosystems for the global climate. Some ecosystems naturally give off more co2 than others, some take in more than others, these differences need to be respected. Forests need fires to maintain proper health.
👏👏👏Heart touching animation and sound effects👏👏👏
