  • The workmanship shown in this place is amazing, These guys can take an old piece of wood and turn it into a piece of art with nothing more than a small knife, It takes not only a lot of skill but a crazy amount of patience.

I found a small carved wooden panel at a garage sale and am curious what it might be worth? It is smaller than the panels pictured, but shows an ornate scene of women bathing in the river in a forest.

+Southpaws gold prospecting and adventures I have a few things in the house I bought locally, Not as nice as anything here but still good. I went to a place in Thailand like this about 11 years ago that had amazing stuff, There were carvings that took 2 guys over 2 years to do, It looked like it was alive. They were sending things all over the world. They had a huge tree stump that was in a river for a long time by the look of it, I asked what it was going to be, The lady said they were waiting for some one to have a dream.

AWESOME! I'm so mesmerized by the sheer beauty and intricate craftmanship of these wood carvings, I heard the sales lady explain to you the different woods, ebony is the dark one, its the hardest wood ever and the light toned wood is hibiscus, I bet there are carvings done in sandalwood also, as this wood is, besides beautiful woodgrain, has a very pleasant and aromatic odor that it gives off. How do I know about sandalwood, coupla months ago there was an east indian selling these mini carvings of elephants, frogs and monkeys, all made of sandalwood and each animal was hollowed out, and so I splurged on a 2" x 2" elephant, cost me a 100.00 pesos, that's $5.74 usd at the current exchange rate, thumbs up my buddy, you never fail amaze and interest us on this channel or your other channel! :)

+Joe Serrano Sounds a good deal for anything hand carved, Elephants are very popular here in Thailand, There on every thing, So I would have probably bought the elephant too.....

+john parker (the gimpy gardener) That camel and jockey of yours made of olive wood sounds COOL, I bought a mini carving of an elephant made of sandalwood from an east indian immigrant here, cost me 100 pesos, thats $5.74 usd at the current exchange rate, totally hollow inside and carved like a "net".

+john parker (the gimpy gardener) I did not ask price of anything, I told the lady when I got there I would not be buying anything, Just wanted to look around, If I asked price she would have got the wrong idea (probably) She was very knowledgeable that is for sure, Had many answers for every question. I did see some nice things made from olive wood in Isreal but the prices there were crazy, I total tourist trap.
