  • Erlangen / Germany is a Bavarian city in the Franconian area of the state. With a bit more than 110.000 inhabitants, Erlangen is the smallest of a total of eight large cities in Bavaria. Erlangen is home to a university which we will see on this walking tour.
We start our Erlangen tour after arriving at the train station. We quickly are at the Hugenottenplatz to with the Hugenotten Church. From there we head south to the city center, passing the Neustädter Kirche.
From the city center we get to the Schlossgarten Erlangen which is pretty during fall with all the colorful foliage. This garden faces the baroque palace, which now part of the local university. Some statues from the 1700s can also be seen there.
Back to the inner city center we explore more smaller streets around the university and get to the northern area up until the Altstädter Trinity Church (Altstädter Dreifaltigkeitskirche)
At last we head back to the starting point of our tour - the Erlangen train station and end this Erlangen walking tour.

Thank you, too! Back in 2019 when I started the channel I recorded some 250 walks, mostly outside of Germany. Due to the situation in 2020/21 mostly Germany stayed as a travel destination here. Thanks to our excellent train network I went to many cities in a pretty short time. Here on that day of filming I visited Bayreuth, Erlangen and Fürth. I hope to return during another season there. So far the videos from smaller cities in Germany get similar views as more international places. We'll see what this year brings in travel. Thanks for watching!

This is really cool. Came across this yesterday as I was searching for drone videos of various European cities for planning some future trips with my wife.
I did a summer-exchange program at FAU in Erlangen back in 1990 - 32 years ago! From this video, it appears that quite a bit has changed - and yet so much looks the same (or at least very familiar). I enjoyed following your route around town ("oh, yeah . . . THAT's where that was!"). Thank you for uploading this. Really takes me back!

Thank you! It's interesting to me hearing some back stories. When I recorded some 60+ German cities in fall 2020 I often visited some smaller places like Erlangen for the first time. Back on that day I went to Bamberg first, then Erlangen here and Fürth afterwards before going to Kulmbach in the evening. All by train as it was the last day of traveling before going home via Bayreuth the next day. I'll see when there is another chance to do something like that for updates on these videos. I also enjoyed visiting these places, even just briefly for the duration of these videos

I searched Erlangen as I once had a lovely friend from there. We met in India, and spent many nice days out together. Then I moved back to England with my family, and my lady back to Erlangen. I have not heard from her for a while, so I guess she must have passed away as she could have been my grandma. Thanks for a lovely video that creates a backdrop to the memories of a person that existed and came into my life.
