    Hi Mel and Paul, I'm really impressed with not only your immaculate preparation, but the general cleanliness of the whole operation. As you have mentioned elsewhere, the end result will be well worth all the hard graft, and the glow of satisfaction you will both have will wash away all those dusty hours of preparation in the hot sun.
    Love the idea of the tarp cover too, and it seemed to work a treat.
    Also not sure about a white roof, a pastel or mid grey might not show as much dirt and will still do a decent job of reflecting the heat away in the summer.

    Sorry that it's been such a palava. You both are such brilliant craftspeople and I have found your process interesting, far more engaging than watching paint dry.

    Well done for such careful work, great progress. I have been sanding and treating rust on my narrow boat - dew definitely can cause hassles. I am using Fertan which has to be washed off but when I get it right, it leaves a layer of zinc on the surface of the decent steel. I have found red oxide primer to protect better than grey or silver stuff. Owalatrol oil is great for mixing in with primer to make it better in lots of ways - flow, strength, etc.... Mixing a little coloured topcoat into the white undercoat can create a very light or pastel shade which helps you to see where you have properly covered more easily. I have been pleased with teamac marine topcoats.
    I have invested in some heavy rubber stable matting ( 17mm thick, 6'x4' sheets) that's great for a flexible, waterproof roof cover that doesn't get blown about or away. I lay it on top of 34mm thick light weight, insulative EVA rubber horse stable mat that I use as protection against frost in the winter. It's also grippy to walk on and protects the paint from scratches. In the summer I covered the black rubber with some woven, white plastic fabric I had to reflect away heat. Good luck for more painting weather.

      And thank you for choosing to be entertained by it! We definitely think filming it all keeps us on track so while it’s difficult it kind of spurs us on, a great combo let’s say - so thanks for being here as always!👍🏻😉

    Hey! Don’t knock yourself. You two are doing a grand job. All looking good, and there’s nowt wrong with a dress rehearsal! Good teamwork there.
    We’re always gaining experience in whatever we do. Life is a learning curve, after all. Keep sticking at something, and it’ll all come right in the end. Well done, to the both of you. 😉 Remember, Mel / Paul, Rome wasn’t built in a day, you know!

    Great job you two. Just a thought however. Reconsider a white roof. I understand staying cooler, but it will look filthy fast. How about light grey.

    Looking good. Well done, it's good to see someone preparing the the paint job properly. The key to a good paint job is 90% preparation. The end result should be worth all the effort you've put in.
    Once again well done. All the best from Australia 🦘🐨

    Hi Mel and Paul good to see you making some good progress ,I know from NB Alba's experience that it was more of a job than you might think and they were fortunate in largely working under cover of the drydock where they had been blacked .I think I'll have to rename you guys ...Mr and Mrs Mc Gyver..You definitely have earned a cool one and a nice meal I'm looking forward to you getting back to the "Chic" Mel you werent made for drudgery

    Lovely paint preparation you two, you’ll soon see your reward when your roof is finished. The tarp was a great idea. Paul, will you run a tap through the vent screw holes? It’s easy to lose track of time when your engrossed in such a task, but you kept us involved along the way, filming most of it, well done. Another Aussie!

    • @MelandPaulMunro
      @MelandPaulMunro  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Good one Mel, nice job Paul. I must ask what type of paint are you doing for a finish. I'd be real chuffed if ya said rent a heated shed for a couple of days and apply some 2 pack. Cheers

    • @MelandPaulMunro
      @MelandPaulMunro  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Steve, two primer, two undercoat and then a few top coats! Yes I made the curtains, I’m better with fashion but curtains are pretty strait forward and they came out pretty good👍🏻 Happy to have a look at what you need if you’d like some ☺️

    • @stevecapper9321
      @stevecapper9321 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MelandPaulMunro could do with a price for curtains as and when we are closer to the time of moving into the boat which is now going to be towards the end of Jan 2022 due to supply of certain item with other boats that he has in his building programme ours will be started on the second week of October taking about 16 weeks start to finish .
      Thanks..... Steve.

    Would have been nice if you asked advice, no you can't paint at night! You paint when it can dry! Someone would have told you that, the trouble with being a talker and not a doer Mel is that you can talk that poor guy into trouble, it's painful to watch narcicist at work, poor guy 🤦‍♂️
