    It was great to see the change to this wonderful city fromyour 2018 video to this one, seems like there is much more life here now. Beautifully filmed and you managed to cover more of the city now. I love and appreciate all the caption facts, takes a lot of research. Without captions, it is just another building, the stories behind them, and the town, bring them to life and give meaning to what we are looking at. :) THANK YOU!

      Ciao Phillip, I'm glad you to hear you enjoyed this one. I was never happy with the first walk I posted it. The weather finally worked out this time. The captions take a lot of time for sure, but it is a fun and interesting part of the process....except for when I realize I missed something really important during the walk. Civita is pretty small though. Maybe next time I'll try to film a walk around its base. Thanks for watching!

    My wife and I visited about 8 years ago but we arrived with only an hour of daylight remaining and it was pouring down rain so much of our visit was spent sheltering in the church. It was still an incredible, though wet experience to walk across the long bridge up to the top. Thank you for this video that showed us far more than what we had the chance to see in person.

    Wonderful tour. Thanks so much for the return visit to this amazing hilltop village. I have watched a lot of walking videos through Italy's hilltop villages and towns, and Civita is something special, due in large part to the fact that there are no vehicles. It's like stepping back in time. I love the texture of the stone here and the narrow sidestreets. I have no doubt that we will make the most of the 4 nights that we are spending here. In the evening after the day-tourists are gone, it will be something altogether different, I'm sure. And you know those orange barriers that you were wishing you could've gone past just outside the Poet's Garden? I do believe it leads to the underground tunnels underneath the village. We plan on exploring that as well when we visit. Ciao!

    I watched your 2018 and 2021 video on this lovely area. Each video was amazing. Your videos have made me definitely want to visit this place and stay one night. I thought it would be great to walk around in the early morning when there are few tourists. I was surprised that there are few people wearing masks in August, 2021, while here in Japan everyone wears a mask outside even now (Feb. 2022), mostly because of social pressure, I guess.

      @@ProWalks You are well informed on everything about Italy but not on fauna sorry; you wrote as if there were only domestic animals but we are the country with the most varied fauna in Europe (with Spain probably), obviously Italy cannot have who knows what wild animals, it's a densely populated country that it has been inhabited since before the Neolithic.
      Anyway there are: Bears, Wolves, Lynxes, Foxes, Wild boars, Deer, Chamois, Fallow deer, Ibex, Roe deer, Weasel, Badger, Ermine, Marten, Beech marten, Marmot, Otter, Hare, Raccoon, Squirrel and others (I'll stop here); of course I didn't mention the birds, for example Eagle, Hawk, 3 Vulture types etc.
      PS I almost forgot, even if (fortunately) we are not the Australia we have also some poisonous animals (aside the classic Hornets, Scorpions or Jellyfish) who are a bit dangerous for men; the mediterranean Black Widow (Malmignat), Violin Spider and the Tegenary, and also some snakes (3-4 Vipers species), all of them spread everywhere except Sardinia.

I notice that the windows in the city look new - have the apartments been renovated? who lives there? does the city have a sewer system? is the government looking to maintain the entire city as a museum, or are they actively seeking residents? transporting materials or appliances to this city looks expensive and time-consuming

    • @ProWalks
      @ProWalks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, many of the houses can now be rented out. I don't think anyone is moving there...it's all about the tourists now. :) yes, it has a sewer system that was installed after WWII. I think the city is actively trying to bring in tourists as opposed to residents. It would probably be a little difficult to live there now. All the stores are just tourist shops and restaurants.

    За счёт чего растут деревья , ведь здесь сплошная скала? А фоном что поют цикады? Как видовая площадка да, а больше опустить взгляд не на что...чем эта площадка может приносить доход???

    If the main road/bridge to the town gets washed out or crumbles into dust on a windy day, "you done gone be roping yerself down the steep sides into the bushes". Then walk to the nearest bus station. Cursing Roman god of sore feet.

    А по разговору, тут шастают итальянцы, только что они здесь нашли, против их итальянских локаций это ничего...если убрать эти переходы и дорожки, это место больше подходит для охот угодий...

    I advise you to first study what the word Sasan (Tsatsan) means. The word Sasan (tsatsan) comes from the territory of the ancient Chechen Aryan people of the Sassaniden - reich state of Sanskrit - the proto-language, the basis of Indo-European languages. The ethnonym "Chechen" is an Aryan Indo-European transcription of the Arabic word "shashani". The descendants of the Arab caliphate still call the ancient Chechen Alan people the Chianti of the Etruscans (Tsanar) empire "Shashani". Since the 12th century, various Asian tribes of Chinese (Mangol) The Seljuk Turks who settled on the territory of the ancient ancient Chechen Alan people of the Cianti Etruscan (Tsanar) empire began to call Chechens "Sasan", Kabardins "Shashan", the Sogdian - Yagnob tribe Ossetians "Sasan-tsatsan", Lezgins "Chachan".Chechens Chechens are the self-designation of the sacred Chechen Alan people of the Cianti Etruscans (Tsanar) Empire given the name by historical neighbors, on behalf of the Ell Nakh mythical character Cesc Sols, commander of the Cianti Nakh-Orstkhoevites. Cesca Solsa was linked not only with the Sun, but also with light. So, on the territory of the ancient Chechen Alan people of the Cianti Etruscans (Tsanar) empire, it was claimed that such a bright radiance emanates from the Seska-Solsa-Yerda temple at night that you can freely do sewing. The Sasna clan had the Highest title of Melik, the word "melik" came to Artsakh from the territory of the ancient Chechen Aryan state (sassaniden reich) of Mesopotamia, where it meant "tsar", "lord" One of the historical names in the new Russian language, the name of the word Chechens as a term is present in the treaty of the Chechens of Ivan the Terrible with the Kalmyk ruler Ayuk Khan. Jan Chesnov - claimed that the ancient Chechen Alan people of the Cianti Etruscans (Tsanar) empire lost their self-designation Sasan-Chechens in connection with the military actions that unfolded against their ancient religion, religious processes of democratization, the Jesuit Order that ended in the XVII-XVIII centuries.

    Such an unusual situation to live on the proceeds of visitors to such an extent the residents don't pay municipal taxes. But I don't suppose that will really make much of a difference to people looking to live in a low tax environment because it is so expensive and difficult to live up there? Does it mean any survivors will probably never leave until they are carried out in boxes and it's future will be expensive second homes in the sky?
    It was also a dubious security except against small scale brigandage. What good does it do if the entire territory around the city was conquered but not that hill? I'll bet that's what happened to them most of the time. One day they have a different lord or different government but at least they didn't get mowed down and raped by the change?
    It always amazes me that there are people on earth that actually manage to stay generations in one place. I'm 72 and have moved around quite a lot until recent decades. The previous generation didn't move around nearly as much.
    BTW - the splayed walls at the bottom of several buildings is about earthquake protection, isn't it? Many of the paintings in the church don't have frames. They are likely to have been gifts but unframed? I wonder if, at some time, the church had to sell them?
