Royal Family's HUGE Abandoned Castle | Over 900 Years Old

  • เผยแพร่เมื่อ 15 ส.ค. 2023
  • Today we are taking you on an adventure to a very old and historic abandoned castle in the countryside of France, originally built in 1180 the grand castle was once a fortified monument to a royal family until the year 1400 when it was sold to another wealthy family that I couldn’t find much information about. And all through the years until the 19th century it was passed down to the same family until a very prominent art collector and dealer bought the castle and used it to display all of the very valuable artifacts and furniture as well as paintings from a very famous artist that was his biggest collection. The man that lived here died in 2018 at the age of 90 but left the castle many years ago due to its high maintenance. And ever since the art work was sold off and castle has been abandoned ever since. Today alot of belongings still remain including some of the very valuable furniture that was unfortunately left to decay. So join me today and let’s see what’s left.

Be aware that France currently has an ongoing project to restore over 2,000 abandoned castles and chateauxs. Groups of people are buying each one and restoring. This is probably one of those castles and may well belong to someone or multiple people by now. It's an incredible piece of history, and it's sad to see it in such bad condition. I was holding my breath watching you guys walk over some of those rotting floors, and stairs. 😱 But what an incredible find! It's painful to see it so decayed.

Judging from the paperwork you came across, this is the Château de Renay in Loire, France. Seems like the last owner was Sylvain Durand. I looked up the history and as you stated, it has quite a legacy.
I can never understand why -- although the upkeep and maintenance of such a large estate may be beyond affordability for whomever inherits it -- leaving such valuable furnishings and contents behind to rot and decay makes no sense at all. The dishes may be ancient and valuable, and the chairs can be salvaged and reupholstered.
Sad to see such an end to what was a historical monument.

      Oh, Dear...
Don't tell me these plonkers have filmed and showed in the video a document telling the exact location of the place?
(I obviously didn't watch the whole video, as it is so appallingly filmed.)
      What a bunch or morons!

Right, I've seen it now, at 25:15...
      What absolute clowns!
I wonder why they don't name the castle in the video title while they're at it!
Of course, naming these places makes it even easier for potential vandals and burglars to find!
      Really shameful!
This shows that these so-called "urban explorers" are not harmless at all, contrary to what many people may think.

Hi Carter. What an amazing place! That was absolutely fascinating. I can only imagine what it was like in its glory 800/ 900 years ago.
You definitely bumped into a spirit where it was so cold going up the stairs. The basement was where of the original kitchen would’ve been. Nothing but servants would’ve been down there. Where that great big huge inglenook fire place was. Extraordinary. Thank you so much for dodging bats and twinkle toes across the rotten floors you both are appreciated 💜🤟🏻🫶🐬😎🇺🇸

France doesn't care about them until you want to renovate them or unless they have insane historical significance. They have thousands around the country. But when you do get one and want to restore it they want to micromanage in varying degrees depending on its alleged significance and then the taxes on top of upkeep costs. They don't really care.

You guys have too much footage of the floor, and not enough of the rooms in eye-height. It's like looking through the lens of someone whose neck is broken and can't lift his head up. It's frustrating to walk through a castle room, showing mostly the floor. I get it that you have to mind where you are stepping. But it's kind of pointless if most of the video is about looking down at the floor. I suggest you turn the cam off when you check the floor for a safe walk, and when you determined the path you want to walk, turn the cam back on so you can concentrate on showing the room on a comfortable eye-level.

The hot layers of clothes the women wore back then, how hot that kitchen was a the hustle and bustle of the servants preparing for the evening meal for the royal family. Kids scurrying in and out sneaking a treat before supper and the head of kitchen playfully and lovingly swatting them away and telling them their going to ruin their supper. 😊 I just found you and I must say I'm addicted. I was hoping you'll find an old toilet style during the early years of the castle where there was just a hole on top of a cemented flatform. I thought i saw one but the camera moved so fast. Finding this one prove the authenticity of the age of the castle. The camera seemed to be focused/interested in finding modern appliances found in the very old castle. i was so keen in looking to the very old things like furniture, kitchen dishes, decorative pieces, letters, early publications and pictures. Another thing i noticed was you didn't find any wine cellars which is always found in old castles. This is the kind of abandoned castle i am very interested to see. Thanks you found this one.

The room that you guys said had a well in it, that was probably originally the toilet if it was in the older part of the castle. When we were in Switzerland we toured a castle built in the 11 hundreds. They had a spot like that and we were told it was a toilet. The castle was built out onto the water and the waste went down and into the water.

An absolutely once phenomenal castle!!! Sooo very interesting!!! It breaks my heart 💔💔💔 to see the deterioration of this property!!! I sooo wish that someone would have saved the gorgeous antique wooden furniture, to let it be restored & someone to enjoy it once again!!! Sad that a library, museum or historical place doesn’t save the books, magazines, glassware, cookware & artifacts from this historical place!!! I can totally understand why these gems are abandoned, as it would be unbelievably costly to try & save, restore & rebuild this awesome place to it’s original grandeur!!!😞😰😢 The upkeep of a property such as this wouldn’t even be practical for Warren Buffet, Jeff Bezos or Bill Gates to even take on😰😞😢 Thank you for sharing this wonderful, awe inspiring, once phenomenal castle, Carter!!! What a treat for an old, handicapped person like me…who would never otherwise get to experience this beautiful property, 40 minutes of escaping reality, to dream👍🙏💕

That glassware in the living room is beautiful! I was wanting you to get down close to some of those pieces on the floor! Vintage and antique English glassware can be extremely expensive!

Long table was a Prep Table. The servants most likely ate there after kitchen cleanup

I want to warn you of places with bats. I recommend a high collar something around your necks that prevent hungry bats targeting your necks. Back a while ago I read an article of a child who was walking home in the evening, when a bat, in a slit second, targeted the boy's neck, extracting his blood from his vein, infecting him, and KILLING him! When a bat infects you after hitting your jugular, the infection is directly hitting the bloodstream, causing sepsis, and it will take you down instantly, not to talk about destroying your main blood vessel in your neck. I would wear something around my neck that is hard enough to prevent a bat from hitting your jugular, even after trying.

Очень красивый средневековый замок с интересным подвалом и печами, не понятные помещения, закутки, какое было их предназначения в те далекие времена, когда он был построен

Hey!! I just thot of something!! 🤔 You NEVER see plant pots with old dried out soil & if recent, dead plants. It's weird how they didnt get into that back then. I can understand giving the plants away when they leave or taking them with them but i havent seen ONE in any mansion or castle! Weird!!

It's not likely they will attack you unless they have rabies, which is rare. They will not hit you either because of their amazing sonar system. Also avoid shining lights on them.

You should make a new footage of this castle, this time not wasting yourselves on showing the floors, but showing the rooms. I also don't like it when you spend so much time on showing junk piles. Who cares! I want to see the architecture inside, and feast my eye on a slow and steady footage of a 360 degree on the room, so I can get a feeling what the original people who lived there saw.

This is an incredibly fascinating place! The history is rich. I can’t believe that the gov doesn’t tear it down and put up subsidized housing. I find it so sad that the building was not maintained. Some of the rooms were radiant heat but I didn’t see a boiler in the basement. BigBanks, please pan your camera far more slowly! Plz start taking twice the time to move the camera. Your images flick about so quickly that I cant see any of it. The only scenes that you took enough time for us to even focus were yourself when you wanted to chat with us. Hold the camera that long on each item you wish to focus on, then slowly and carefully move to the next item to view. I think you find that your videos will become much more professional once you slow down. Looking forward to the next one!
