- Voice & Dialect Coach Beth McGuire chats with the cast of ECLIPSED to talk dialect, and how she and the cast worked to create a faithful rendition of the native Liberian accent for the production.
ECLIPSED is the story of five extraordinary women brought together by upheaval in their homeland of Liberia. They forge a close-knit community... one that inspires them to feats of increasingly greater strength. Directed by South African-born LIESL TOMMY (The Good Negro, Appropriate), ECLIPSED is a stirring tale of hope, humor and resilience-and the only new play by a woman on Broadway this season.

This is so interesting to hear how the dialect works for each character and how it comes about. I love bts stuff like this. Thanks for posting!
Sadly, these accents weren't remotely close to sounding Liberian. It is a hard accent to emulate, however, so I definitely appreciate the effort these actors are putting forth.
What's a good video on TH-cam to showcase a "typical" Liberian accent?
This women Beth McGuire got the accents right and exact for Black Panther.
i swear I felt so offended by the accents in this play, it really did not capture anything that even sounded Liberian.
