Members of NCT are added to the group gradually. The final sub-unit was just announced this year (NCT TOKYO/NEW TEAM) which is their predebut name. Jisung was Maknae of NCT as a whole since debut. He was 16 during this practice. He’s not the Maknae anymore considering the new group who are all younger. They have 26 members as of now but 3 members have left NCT 2 of which joined a different SM boy group called RIIZE (shotaro and Sungchan)
The guy with the dance solo is Ten! He has some solo songs that you should definitely check out (I recommend “Birthday” and “Paint Me Naked”), phenomenal dancer!!

Taeyong is the boy you liked and the main character guy is Ten check Birthday, the dance practice is crazy
You really liked Taeyong and Ten! I highly recommend watching their solo mvs and dance practices. Taeyong - "Shalala" and Ten - "Birthday". Besides them, NCT always deliver, I think you'd really like their units and discography. I truly believe NCT have one of the best discographies in kpop. Members were added gradually to NCT so no, most fans didn't have to learn them all at once, we learned them as we gained new members so it's totally okay to take your time.
NCT have talked about what it's like to be a group that's so big and while they're all generally friends, some closer than others, the bottom line and key for them to work so well together is general respect and an understand of what it is they're there to do. They all understand that they're all passionate about music and performing and they love the challenge of working in different combinations and making unique music. Of course they fight sometimes, it's just what people do, but they respect each other and have always extended unconditional support for each others unit's music and each other's solo activities.
I recommend NCT U "Baggy Jeans" and "90's Love". As well as,
NCT 127 - "Ay-Yo" or "Kick It"
NCT Dream - "ISTJ" or "Hot Sauce"
WayV - "Phantom" or "Moonwalk"

You have good eyes. Taeyong (the first rapper) and Ten (the main dancer) are the centers of their respective subunits NCT 127 and WayV. They were rivals vying for top spot even during their rookie days. They are probably the most charismatic members and they make a good pair during performances so they have two duets together Baby Don't Stop and Call D. You shoud theck those tracks and their recent performances to those.
This is NCT 2018 so at that moment they had 18 members. Now they have 26(6 of them are new from this year). They did this again at their concert but with 19 members (one could be there because he was injured) They wont add any members anymore. They have different units so its like any other group. 1 has 6 members, 1 has 7, 1 has 9 and the new one has 6.
nct started out with 7 members, their whole concept is adding members infinitely. so at the time, this did have all of 18 of the members in it.

🤣He got me cacklin'... cause I know he for real 'bout them messin' up. Every NCT dance practice is EPIC. Footwork, them boys are trained, a dance crew, swagga. The NCT group count started at 18, then they added 3 more 21, then they added 2 more 23, then minus 1 total 22, then minus 2 for another group 20, then a new unit added 6, Total members currently 26. NCT Math is easy... you'll get used to it. It's one big family and their names are easy, learn them by age, your fav, or unit. As big as the group is 26 brothers ready for warfare, the one person people should fear is 'Ten' 20:03, he is Diabolical. I am not even talking about his artistry either. NCT is Experimental, Rap, Trap, R&B/Soul.... any genre they can sing/rap. You like Taeyong rap style listen to the tracks below... Enjoy the music...

people get scared of getting to know nct bc of the number of members but once you get into it, it not only isnt that complicated, but they GOT IT. nct is ACTUALLY SO GOOD.

Black On Black is not a song to be heard, it is a presentation performance for the group's first full album.

Nct is divided into four sub-units; nct 127, nct dream, wayv, and currently nctnewteam. I would suggest listening and leaning them by unit. I would suggest listening to nct u lastly because nct u is all of them together. In an nct u the members always change according to the song. It was nice seeing you enjoy nct and I hope you dive more into them.
The first one that you liked is Taeyong. He is the leader. The one that got a solo is Ten. The one you didnt like is Lucas, he is not in NCT anymore.

@@urfirstluvv I don't think it would sound right if he actually says he doesn't like Lucas.. i think what he actually means is he's not feeling him. To be fair tho, Lucas' skills were not that polished yet during this time. Even his movements were still quite awkward.. They give him the solo part cuz he was so popular. Unlike Mark, Taeyong and Ten who got their solo parts here cuz they were really the best in in rapping/dancing.
@@arien_000 Ngl its very interesting to see these types of comments, in which some ppl see the 'bad' in him. Because I remember very well that before the rumors came out, no one was saying anything about his skills, anything about his dancing, nor about his voice.... he was the most famous of the group for a reason. I think is funny that after everything that happened, ppl started to say and make these types of comments saying that he was bad or he really wasn't good as far as being an idol. Not to contradict or anything cuz I know it's your opinion, I just find it interesting and weird.
@@felicitass2517 or maybe ur just overreacting cuz I never said he was bad. I said he wasn't as polished yet during BoB era. That implies that he got better over time. If you were impressed with him since day one that's totally fine too. I wasn't. I started started appreciating him during resonance era. He's been always cute though. He wasn't like Mark, Ty And Ten who I found impressive since day one and that okay cuz not everyone has to be impressed with him. And no I was never one of those who thought his dance was horrible. He had a very magnetic energy since day 1 but he needed a lot of polishing here and there at the beginning.

NCT is one of the first groups I got into along with Stray Kids, and they're still in my top groups of all time!! They have a super diverse discography and crazy talented members! Also, I'm not sure if you know this already, but NCT is split into units so it's rare for all members to be on the same song 😆 If you ever decide you want to check out more of their stuff, NCT 127 is a great starter unit, and their Dingo Killing Voice is a great introduction to their skills/songs! 😄

NCT has sub-units that promote and release music as their own. They don't do full 18+ member song often. It's like and annual project that they do. NCT 2018 was for 2018 with 18 members at the time. NCT 2020 was with 23 members and so on. They hv units NCT Dream, NCT 127, NCT U, WayV and NCT New Team/NCT Tokyo (Not official name).
Think of it like this: I always use the school analogy to make people understand it easier. NCT is the name of the school and there's the class of NCT 127 (based on seoul), the class of NCT Dream( the freshmans now seniors), the class of WayV( for the study of China and students of Chinese descent), the class of NCT Tokyo/NCT New Team (Same as WayV but with Japan ) and lastly the class of NCT U( an elective class where anyone can come and go depending on who fits the curriculum). Then every year there is a school festival or talent show or something like that where all the classes come together to do the work or in this case release songs and performances.
It would be too hectic if they always promote and release songs as a full group😂😂.
It is also why learning the members takes like a month or less to do

RED HEAD, LEE TAEYONG THE LEADER OF NCT 127 AND THE WHOLE OF NCT, HE IS THE MAIN RAPPER, SUB VOCAL, MAIN DANCER, HE CHEREOGHRAPHED NCT 127 LATEST RELEASE (FACT CHECK) IN UNDER AN HOUR, HE IS A SONGWRITER AND A PRODUCER
NCT-2018's "Black on Black" is a special performance MV so, as you can see, it's designed to highlight the group's dance skills. ("Black on Black" is a B-side track from NCT's Empathy album that actually only features Taeyong, Mark and Lucas in the song.) This performance just highlights another aspect of what makes NCT so talented. If I remember correctly, they actually debuted this performance as a special live stage showcase, before the MV was released, or maybe in tandem with the MV. So, they can do all this live, too.
NCT-2018 was a special project created by SM Entertainment in 2018 because, at the time, there were 18 members in NCT and SM thought it was a cool contrast that the number of members reflects the year. (Kun -- the leader of WayV, NCT's Chinese sub-unit -- debuted as a member of NCT-2018 and he was the one that was added to NCT to make them equal 18 members. The only members who are not part of this performance are YangYang, Hendery and Xiaojun because they didn't debut until 2019 when WayV was added to the group.) This performance was created for "Black on Black" to highlight all the talent in NCT.
NCT -- which stands for Neo (a pop culture term that means new/original) Culture Technology -- currently has 20 members. And the group right now as a whole has 4 sub-units -- NCT-U, NCT-127, NCT-Dream and WayV. (NCT will officially become a 26-member group when NCT's 5th sub-unit the "New Team" debuts.)
Therefore, NCT's style is meant to be new and original with elements that embrace different cultures and technologies to create their sound. What you just saw and heard is called NCT-style, they don't really have a traditional music or performance style that you can attach to them.
NCT is a group that is constantly changing and rearranging its members and sound and we never know quite what to expect from them. With a concept that allows the members to rotate between sub-units -- changing, adding and subtracting members -- depending on the design of group or song, you should never expect the same thing from them. You are better off always expecting something new, that somehow, also ends up sounding very much like NCT. LOL
As you can see, the level of talent in NCT is insane. That is why SM Entertainment commands the top spot and why it's one of the big 3 entertainment companies in Korea and around the world. We wouldn't expect anything less. (And just think, NCT is about to gain 6 more members with their "New Team" Japanese sub-unit, who are already showing their impressive skills with their pre-debut "Hands Up" MV.) SM cultivates talent. And that is why the company has become known as a powerhouse for vocals and dance skills. All of its artists are super multi-talented.
You know someone must be extra special if they are part of SM. You can't even debut as an SM artist without having superior vocals and/or dance skills, that's just the criteria for being an SM artist. :D
SM Entertaiment is the founder of everything we know of as Kpop today, and the company has some of the most legendary and talented groups and artists.
NCT is one of the most internationally diverse groups in all of Kpop. The members as a whole represent 8 different countries and they speak 7 or 8 different languages. For example, there are 11 native Korean members (*Taeyong, Doyoung, Taeil, Haechan, *Jaehyun, Jeno, Jaemin, Jisung, Jungwoo, and new members Sion and Daeyoung), *Mark is Korean-Canadian, *Johnny is Korean-American (from Chicago), 5 Japanese members (Yuta and new members Riku, Yushi, Ryo and Sakuya), *Ten is Thai, *YangYang is Taiwanese but he grew up in Germany, Hendery is Chinese from Macau (China) and 5 mainland Chinese members (WinWin, Kun, Xiaojun, Renjun and Chenle). However, they all live and work in Korea, so everyone speaks Korean fluently. Plus, many members have attended international schools or lived abroad, so there are several members who are also *fluent in English, on top of speaking 2 or more other languages.
Taeyong -- the one who starts the performance in the middle -- is the official leader of NCT, so no matter what sub-unit you are talking about, he is the leader of everyone. (Although, Kun is the leader of WayV and Mark is the leader of NCT-Dream. They all defer to Taeyong as the leader when they are together.) Taeyong has a prominent role in almost everything they do. Plus, he is one of NCT's best dancers, he is a main rapper and he is a songwriter and producer. Because Taeyong is so multi-talented, SM features him a lot in its projects, either within NCT or even outside of the group. Some even say that Taeyong and Mark (who are pretty much NCT-127's rap duo) are SM's favorite NCT members because they get the most parts in every project. (Mark is the only NCT member who debuted as a member of all of NCT's first 3 sub-units.) But Taeyong stands out because he has that quality that makes the leader of Kpop groups different than the other members. Leaders are just born to be leaders, and Taeyong is a good example of that.
Fun fact: If you notice, when Mark first appears in the beginning, when he jumps over Taeyong, etc., he says, " ... NCT, we the dream team ..." NCT's whole group concept is centered around dreams and dreaming, so the whole group is a team that is all about dreams.
And the blond guy in the center in the middle of the dance break section, with the leather hat in the dance practice video -- the one with the skills at popping -- was Jisung. He is currently 21 years old and the maknae (youngest) of the whole NCT group -- he was about 16 in these videos. (Although, after 7 years, Jisung won't be the youngest much longer. When the 6 new members debut soon, "New Team" member Sakuya, who is currently 15, will officially be the maknae.) Jisung debuted with NCT-Dream when he was only 14, and he is one of NCT's best dancers.
The rapper in the middle of the performance, who told us to "freeze!!!", who was kneeling in front during the part where they were standing on each other, is Lucas. (Lucas debuted as a member of NCT-U in their "Boss" MV, which came out a few months before "Black on Black" in 2018. Unfortunately, he left NCT/WayV earlier this year.)
Ten is THE Soloist in NCT. He has the most solo projects of any of the members because he is their best/most skilled main dancer and he has beautiful vocals. Therefore, SM has given Ten a lot of solo songs and projects over the years.
And that is why he was highlighted in this performance.
Notice how the majority of the members who were the centers of this performance are also members of SuperM, the Kpop industry's first official supergroup, which is made up of members from EXO, SHINee, NCT and WayV -- Taeyong, Mark, Ten and Lucas. And that is why SM chose them to be a part of SuperM, because they are the members of NCT who are some of the most talented, most popular and the ones that have that undefinable "it" factor.
NCT is SM's attempt at taking over the music industry around the world. SM's original goal was to eventually have NCT sub-units representing every major city in every country in the world. For example, they are just about to add a Japanese sub-unit. It has always been SM's plan to have world domination. And to that point, right now NCT-127 is the group that SM is using to try and get their foothold in the U.S. music market with all-English versions of songs like "Regular" and "Highway to Heaven" and collaborations with American artists such as Jason Derulo, as well as U.S. concert tours and promotional tours with the American media, etc.
So, this year is NCT's 7th anniversary, but debut dates are different for any number of members because it all depends on when they were added to the group. And many of the members of NCT actually became recognized by fans even before debut because they were part of SM's pre-debut group project called SMRookies (or the new members who were part of a reality survival show called LASTART), so SM did activities with several of the members before they debuted.
I learned all the members name except for the new unit (NCT Tokyo) in just 3 days, it's not hard as it seems because they have different unit

NCT CAN SERVE YOU DIFFERENT KIND OF DANCE/PERFORMANCE FLAVORS! You name it they got it. You should see at least one of the dance practices of each unit. For me their best and most enjoyable choreos are:
NCT U - 90s Love (old to modern hip-hop, very fun choreo)
NCT 127 - Ay Yo (suave moves plus great footworks)
WayV - Miracle (laid back and smooth as butter)
NCT Dream - Beatbox (wholesome and fun)
DoJaeJung - Perfume (with very memorable moves)
NCT New Team - Hands Up (they dont have a name yet cuz they didn't have a formal debut yet)
These are just dance practices, they still have a ton of mvs and performance videos
The main reason they can tolerate between 26 members because they are the most laidback group out there ngl. But they're still always giving us 200% effort in song qualities also performances

Taeyong is the leader of all NCT and NCT 127. He is also a soloist (SHALALA). He has all the positions aside of as the leader refer to his uncredible talents (main rapper, main dancer, center, visual, face of the group) and he makes his own songs (lyricist, producer, composer). He even choreographed many songs too.

Btw Black on Black was released in 2018...and during that time there were only 18 members...so every Nct member were in that video...and this is a performance video more of a showcase rather than a song. Every single Nct unit is fire, dance wise vocal wise and they are a great looking bunch of guys...

Members to nct got added gradually so you also learn their names little by little or sub unit by sub unit. There is no song or album yet with all 26 members but the recent one got released in August 2023 with 20 members with the title song golden age and baggy jeans. They did have a album out in 2020 which had 23 members but 3 members left the group and up until August 2023 they were a 20 member group but now with a new nct sub unit it changed to 26 (a few weeks ago they announced this unit) I recommend the resonance mv but just know that 3 members left the group that are in the resonance mv

Late but anyway, Black on Black is from 2018 so at that time there were fewer members, in fact there were 18. This year the last NCT unit called NCT WISH will debut and they will be the Japanese unit.
NCT U: Any member of NCT can participate, they are chosen based on which member is best for the concept of the song they will release.
NCT 127: It is the 1st fixed unit, there are 9 members.
NCT Dream: There are 7 members, they were the youngest unit, they had a graduation concept that when the members were of age they would graduate and move to another unit, that was canceled and they stayed with the original members. Their concept is more youthful and fresh since the "youngest" are there.
WayV: The Chinese sub unit has 6 members, they are all from different countries but they are all of Chinese descent (They do not have the name "NCT" in the group because between KR and CH there are political problems so it is difficult for them to have the name)
NCT DoJaeJung: A unit composed of 3 members (NCT 127).
NCT WISH: The Japanese unit has 6 members, they are the youngest of all NCT. Being the eldest born in 2002 and the maknae born in 2007, they are the last NCT group to debut with the brand.

in 2018 NCT had 18 members, it was easy for me to learn them because they kept adding them gradually but if you wanna learn about them now it's better to start unit by unit
when i first got into nct i was curious how every member would be different from the others because there is so many but every single one stands out in their own way which is fascinating they all know what they are good at and how to show their charms

Ok Nigel your thinking a little wrong about the groups of NCT so let me reach you some things.
Fun facts: stray kids and alot of NCT members are close with eachother. NCT is also friends with BTS and seventeen.
- now NCT as a whole just made 26 members this year because there were an unlimited boy group that just keeps adding members but they have stopped that cycle now and NCT Tokyo is the last unit to debut in NCT.
- NCT does not perform and record all together all the time they usually do it towards the end of every other year just like in 2018 they all came together just for that album and named it NCT 2018. But for the most part nct is broken down into units and they are all in different groups that still run under the title NCT.
- it may seem confusing but the more you react to them and watch guide it's actually really easy to tell them about and which unit of NCT there in.
- now nct is a very diverse kpop boyband there are members from all over the world with different ethnicity and ages.
- there are members from Germany, Japan, south Korea, America, China , Thailand and even Canada.
- I hope you watch a guide on how to get into NCT, I honestly think you will love them💗

NCT 127 - 9 members (Mark and Haechan are in both 127 and dream!)
NCT Dream - 7 members
Wayv - 6 members (originally 7 but Lucas left this year due to some serious allegations which we basically don't know much about)
Nct tokyo/Nct New Team - 6 members
Taeyong is the leader of NCT as a whole and NCT 127 btw (the very first member in black on black, the one you really enjoyed)
The one with the solo dance is Ten (he's in wayv), he's known as one of the best dancers in the industry!
Nct U is basically a rotational unit: the members are always changing according to the concept of the song and it can be a combination of ANY of the current NCT members!
All NCT member come together once a year or once every 2 years to release an album together with songs of the different unit + nct u songs. We currently have:

I learned almost all of their names to faces in one day. I kept forgetting at least 2 or 3 for a couple of days, but within a week I had them downpact. Now I just have to learn the new group that was just added.

The intro rapper (red head) is Taeyong. He's the leader.
The other rapper is Mark. He's Canadian.
The rapper you liked his voice but not his verse is Lucas. He's no longer part of the group because of obsessive fans who created false rumors so he left the group to protect the members in a way. He will be going solo soon. Anyway, this was not his best only because of the verse itself. Check out Boss. His debut and that part is much better!

I am a former judge of competitive performance groups, director and choreographer. I am a fan from a different perspective. I continuously give kpop groups "a chance" to impress me. The only area I don't have knowledge of is the vocals. NCT 127 technically executes a level of difficulty in their choreography, higher than other groups along with visuals in their routines. I am a fan of rap, hip hop/dance, they're constantly executing different styles of music is admirable. Others have explained the subunits already, so as of recently, there are now 26 members with Taeyong (your boy) being the leader. I have to "give credit where credit is due". I enjoyed your reactions to Black on Black.

NCT (Neo Culture Technology) is group under SM Ent. With a concept of being limitless
Yes, they make music (albums) with all the members in it(26 as of now),but most of the time they are divided in units
Nct 127: has 9 members fixed (doesn't change), experimental, hip hop/rap, R&B music
Nct Dream: they have 7 members but sometimes they operate with only 5 (because 2 members are part of nct127 unit too and might be busy with them) they have a rather fresh and young concept, but can do mature concepts as well
WayV: have 6 members, they are the Chinese unit (sing in mandarin and English) their music is a bit experimental with havy r&b influence, they are known for the sexy and cool concepts
Nct U: in this we can have whatever member fits the concept the song, they can mix and match different members at any time. Can be just 2 or 5 or 8 or 15... it depends on what the song
Nct "Japan or Tokyo": they are the new unit that have yet to debut. So we still don't know about concepts or what are their sound yet . They have 6 members (mostly Japanese).
Nct is known for NEO (noisy, experimental) music and some of their songs are not for everyone, but if you are willing to listen to their discography (not only the title tracks) you will be gifted with amazing music, heavenly vocals, great production and lyrics. They have members that can write music, produce and make choreographs.

It's actually a rare event to have them all in a video together. They operate in their fixed-member units (127, Dream & WayV) the vast majority of the time. In the nearly 8 years they've been active, we've had only 4 all-member mv's. There are currently 20 members, but once the long awaited Japanese unit debuts, there will be 26.
*Black On Black* was for *NCT 2018* and there were only 18 members at the time as it was prior to WayV debuting.
*Resonance* was for *NCT 2020* and there were 23 members.
*Beautiful* was for *NCT 2021* but only 20 members participated, as 3 were on hiatus.
And for the recent *NCT 2023's Golden Age,* there were 20 members (although there was no dancing or scenes with all of them together 😭).
The next time they all come together whenever that is, if everyone is present, there should be 26.
