  • Byron shares what WildWild Journeys is all about as he and Jordan take a self-drive safari at Mpila Camp, uncovering a rainy Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park in Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa. Wildlife sightings prove to be difficult, but important safari life lessons are learned along the way. The African wilderness has a knack for reflecting ourselves back at us.
Thanks Hluhluwe-iMfolozi for all the beauty you had to share and to Jordan for being an important part of another eye-opening experience.
    Thank you for watching.

So happy you showed this video. It’s so easy to dismiss the not so good trips but this just proves that beauty is everywhere. Even the simplicity of raindrops on branches and a rain laden sky. You have found that beauty with your sympathetic filming. Keep inspiring us with your fabulous work. 😊

Thank you Kathy! It ironically became one of the most valuable trips in many ways and some great memories were made in the rain 🌧️ thank you for watching and for the awesome feedback

Making this video says a lot about your character and your commitment to the channel, Byron. I know from experience that the holes can become very deep after trips like these, and getting out takes more energy than most will ever know.
I’m actually on my way to film solo in the Kgalagadi for two weeks later this month and I’ve been preparing mentally for those days where the heat, drought and slow games drives get too much, especially without my wife there with me…
But if you can turn a tough trip on its head like you’ve done with this one, damn, the sky’s the limit 🚀
    Respect!

Really appreciate that coming from you, Villiers. It’s been amazing how these trips seem to reflect yourself back at you!
Good luck in Kgalagadi, I’m sure it’s gonna be incredible regardless of those inevitable tough days and looking forward to seeing what comes from it 💯

So pleased you persevered with this video Byron, showing us that it’s not always perfect conditions that you have to cope with. I’ve just found your channel and I’m looking forward to seeing much much more. You are so right that it’s the bits in between the awesome sights that stitch together to make the complete tapestry. You’ve got great camera skills so thank you for sharing your travels with us 😊

I must say, this is a video that I can totally relate to. My personal experience in South Africa started as a volunteer with Wildlife Act. In my opinion the best volunteer organization I have been involved with in over fifty years of conservation and environmental efforts. I love South Africa and lived in the Mpumalunga region for two and one half years. I spent most of my time in reserves throughout South Africa. This video explains a great deal. I started out “Starry-eyed” and everyday was a dream come true. Then I really started to connect with nature and especially the life within it. Not being a tourist, but being part of nature. My perspective changed and I felt and still do more like a Male protector of my environment than a visitor. I have become that “Voice for the Voiceless”. I have lost some acquaintances because I am so passionate about saving nature.
Wonderful video 🙏🙏. Mahalo nui loa to both of you wonderful people 🌺👍❤️

Hi Jacob, I’m really glad you related to the video. Thanks for watching and it’s great to know that there are people like you out there connecting with nature on a deeper level and as a result becoming a protector and ambassador for it too. 🙏🏼

Fantastic video Byron!! Videos of animals alone can become so drab, so adding a bit about yourself and the actual experience is brilliant, it really takes the viewer along with you for the journey. This is fast becoming a favourite channel of mine. Keep the content coming and all the best going forward.

Great video, Byron. I've finally decided to pluck up the courage and film my trips as well 😅 Still need to think of a name for a channel..
May I ask what video editing software you use? And for any tips you may have for someone just starting an overlanding channel with no video editing experience?

    • @WildWildJourneys
      @WildWildJourneys  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

Hi Mallo, thank you! That’s awesome, welcome to the club. I use Final Cut Pro - there is a trial version you can try for 3 months. I also had no video editing experience just a few months ago but found plenty of tutorials on TH-cam that were super helpful in getting started so I would start there. But most of all, I would say just get started, take the first steps and so much gets learned along the way. It’s very rewarding! 💯
