    This week we bring you the in dash portion of the installation of a Vintage Air A/C system--in 28 degree weather. The subject car is a 1969 Camaro that started life without air condtioning, but in the humid south east air conditioning is a must have. So the Camaro get it...that sounds like it should be a mob hit.

    Still one of the best car shows on TH-cam. Over the years I think I've seen just about every episode. Keep up the great work!

    Lord yes. We were supposed to go and finish the install, sadly the shop finished the A/C...and never called us back to cover it. We'll be doing a complete A/C upgrade using the Vintage Air set up soon.

    @aaroncake Thanks! We hope the install in your Mazda goes well. We agree that the best way to learn is to see it done in action. There are nuances that will be missed in print instructions.

    Vintage Air; just type Vintage Air A/C into Google and you should be able to get to them. They have a Sure Fit system for the Chevy C10 available which will bolt easier than the Universal set up we used here.

    @TheLesspauldude Awesome! Welcome to a cool hobby! And we see you like great guitars too! We wish that we could have shown the rest of it but the owner was in a hurry for the car and due to scheduling problems we couldn't get back over there.

    It was installed on a '69 Camaro with the fender off, their choice not ours. And sadly we were not able to finish the engine bay portion of the install as the car left before we could get back to the shop. We will be addressing this again in the spring on a '68 non-AC Camaro. We'd recommend contacting Vintage Air and chatting with them. They have an awesome tech department and would be more than happy to help you with that info.

    Very nice. This video helped a lot with some of the details of what it will take to install a Vintage Air unit into my '76 Mazda Cosmo. Sometimes it's nice to see things in action instead of just on the instruction sheet. Though I'll be dealing with a much smaller unit, with more under-dash space as well.

    @TheLesspauldude Yep. Everything you need is in the kit.

    Well if we read this correctly there is a lot going on here. You have a turbo on a fuely small block 350. All that being the case, If we were doing the car we'd call Vintage Air. They have a Studebaker that ran 241 mph on the salt flats--with the AC on. So we figure that the tech line guys can get you sorted out--and cooled. If you run into any issues, Private Message us here.

    Yeah, you can replace the factory system with it. But you might be better served servicing the original and getting new hoses, brackets, compressor and condenser. this also depends on how much of the original stuff is there behind the dash panel. If all of it is there then that is the way to go.

    Needs some help Please. I've got a 75 Pontiac Catalina 6.6 400bb does the ac have a orifice tube or a expansion valve. thank you

    thanks, everything under the dash is still the original a/c equipment, everything else has been removed, but about an inch of the a/c wires are still sticking through the fire wall. Where can you find the condenser for a 69 Camaro, is this also a repo part? Thanks for the info............. Jeff

    Question, are you installing this on a 69 with or without factory air? Second, the front cap is removed that provides access to the original blower motor which is a real pain to get to through inner fender well. Please provide feedback on how hard this kit would be to install without the front cap removed.

    I have a 67 camaro with non-original engine (has 350 sm blk with turbo), 700r4 auto tran and electronic fuel injection. I want to install the VA a/c but the guy doing my upgrades says this can't be done because the high performance engine will cause the engine to die whenever the a/c is on and the car isn't moving...does this sound correct?

    Can this be a complete replacement for the factory original if your can had a factory ac system in it? Thanks in advance JEff

    Hi. It is now 2019 so I hope you see this. I have a non A/C ’67 Camaro and would like to do the Vintage Air. I will be having a shop do it. Approximately how many hours does it take to install this system? I’d like to know what I can expect how much to pay based on local shop rates in my area. Thanks!.
    ps: thanks for the great videos.

      Thanks for watching. I am not a good judge honestly. I go at my own pace (slow due to video shooting). BUT, I woould call tech support at Vintage, tell them you watched our show, and that you are wanting to know average install times for the install. They should be able to give a rough estimate. The number is:

    will this work on a car that came stock without air? i wouldn’t call the 99 cherokee se vintage but i need ac asap

      @AutoRestoMod  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. but remember that you will be doing a custom system as I don't think Classic Auto Air has a specific unit for the Cherokee.

    Roughly how many hours does it take to install this system?

    • @AutoRestoMod
      @AutoRestoMod  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It could be done over a couple of 12 hour days I think.

    @mustangmccance Yeah we show our screw ups. We even show us hurting ourselves. We have even shown Jeff's plumbers butt...hmmm maybe we shouldn't admit that since you are new....

      There are many parts of this that will cross over to a '67 Firebird. However, the title, and about section should have been a tipper...Title: Episode 15 Installing Vintage Air AC system in a 67 to 69 Camaro Autorestomod
