This was on every radio station in the 90’s! Love it! You’ve no idea how gifted a singer she is until she begins. And then you can’t get enough. She’s a great pianist too!❤
This song definitely gets you in the feels. Anyone who’s ever been in love, knows the feeling of needing your partner to just get here -any way possible, because you need them. You need your person.
Adams's version of "Get Here", co-produced by Roland Orzabal from the band Tears for Fears (for whom she had performed the female vocals on the hit single "Woman in Chains" a year earlier), became her signature song.
Ms. Oleta Adams has one of the greatest voices in the music industry. Her voice resonates in every cell in one's body. This song is the greatest purest love song. Thank you Oleta Adams, we love you beautiful lady.
I remember hearing this song in the early 90’s back in the UK and it was absolutely awesome! Oleta’ s voice is so pure, soulful and just perfect! What an amazing talent!
This is one of the best love songs ever and her voice is beautiful! Asia you’re completely right, this is a great great song! Asia, also I will always remember I was living in Chicago and the person I was with, at the time, we would go to this piano bar and the singer would sing this song and we always thought we always be together but it didn’t end that way, but I still love the song and Oleta Adams vocals
This song reminds me of my first love, he was from another country across the world and went home every summer & then returnd in fall. For 5 years I would wait months. When this gorgeous heartbreaking song plays it brings it all back. Oleta sang it like no other could have except maybe Whitney. Just beautiful & bittersweet. Thanks for the memories.
I was introduced to Oleta Adam’s music in college. I immediately bought everything she made. This was in the 80’s. She also does a remake of the gospel song Beams of Heaven….. beautiful.
First written and sung by Brenda Russell, Oleta’s cover is so beautiful ! Classic! Almost makes me sad, after the 90’s love songs and power ballads were not popular anymore , what a shame …
I love Oleta. I was at one of her first concerts in Utrecht The Netherlands, I think in 1990 and since then she is part of my life. This song has been sung by a Swedish singer at my wedding in Sweden and has been always part of my life as you can see. For me the most undervalued artist in the world.
Was the F & B manager at a club in L.A. through the 80's into 90's. She was one the artist that played the there a number of times. Astonishing performer. Not only singer but piano player as well. Absolutely love her.
😍🥰😭 My favorite song .... when it came out I was 19 & my 1st love got locked up in neighborhood drug sweep & tho most went home, we didnt enuf to bale him for 3 months & went to bed listening and singing this song ... ex husband now but song still #1!
My tears are flowing as well. This song hit home hard today remembering events that started on this day 36 years ago. 💔 that still bring up so much pain and love and missing someone dear.
This is such a weird memory to have but hearing this song reminds me of when a few friends of mine convinced me to cut out of school early one day during my junior year of HS (1991) and my friend was singing this song as if she was putting on a concert in the backseat of my other friend's car as we were driving away from the school parking lot. I wish we had camera phones back then because it was hilarious.
Oleta was a background singer and pianist for "Tears for Fears", and they decided she needed an album of her own, after she was signed to a record deal, they helped to produce the album. Her career just didn't take off after that for some reason, thought she did sell better in the UK.
That's not really quite true. In 1985, Adams was discovered by Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith, the two members of Tears for Fears, while she was performing in the Peppercorn Duck Club at the Hyatt Hotel in Kansas City. while they were on a US tour. In 1987, Orzabal and Smith contacted her to invite her to join their band as a singer and pianist on their next album, The Seeds of Love. In 1989, the album was released and the single "Woman in Chains", sung as a duet by Adams and Orzabal was a hit. This led to her being offered a recording contract by their record label, Fontana Records. After meeting with various producers,Roland Orzabal ended up producing the record 'Circle of Life' himself.
The first time I ever heard this song is when Oleta was performing it on the daytime "Joan Rivers Show" way back when. So much about it made my eyes water up. I never tire hearing it. Definitely a rare song that goes deep to the heart. Peace Folks.
I love let’s Adams. I discovered her after hearing her in a song on a TV show. Didn’t know her by name but I was obsessed. I had to try to find out who she was. She was covering jimmy cliffs Many Rivers to Cross. It was so moving. Check it out. Also Circle of One, I Just Had to Hear Your Voice,Rhythm of Life, I Knew You When, Love Begins at Home. So many great songs by one of the best voices of our time.
I love you showing your emotions Asia❤️ the beauty of this song is overwhelming. I'm 52 years old and I kind of like to think about it as Someday my knight in shining armor will come along and I'm asking him to get here if you can❤️
She has a legendary voice. Asia would love the cover of this song done by Brenda Russell - who also made a Luther vandross hit famous, "if only for one night." 👍💕
Oh My Gosh!!! Thank you so much for this, one of my most favorite songs ever and for whatever reason, it’s been wayyyyyy too long since I’ve heard it. Beautiful voice, lyrics and music….one of the best of the best. The feeling that evokes just touches the soul. Again, thank you. 💗
In June 1985, while performing at the Peppercorn Duck Club in the Hyatt Hotel in Kansas City, Oleta Adams was heard by Ian Stanley (keyboardist of the British band Tears for Fears) while they were on a two-night stopover in Kansas City midway through their "Big Chair Tour". Oleta later toured with Tears and sang in the wonderful women in chains, she went on to have a wonderful career. ❤
I have never heard this song before , nor even heard OF it. Not sure why I saved it to listen to later, besides the fact that it is on Asia & BJ's channel. But the song is beautiful, and Oleta Adam's voice is too. Your soft heart, Asia, is reassuring in this world of hatred and vengeance. Thank you for the video.
One of the best songs in the history of R&B or jazz, and her voice's timbre, soulfulness, power, emotion, and agility--along with her piano playing--are LUSCIOUS, poignant, and awe-inspiring. Oleta and this song stop me in my tracks every time. If I met her, I'd bow and kiss her hand. She and the song are bliss and joy.
Finally this reaction. Felt the same way when I first heard. Love “there is always something to get over”; in life & in relationships. Also - Oleta’s build up of her vocals
That is a beautiful song. I liked it then and I like it now. Its the true inner feelings of desperation of the meaning of love when you want your love with you. One of the best love songs ever written
Such a beautiful voice and a beautiful song. My son has been in the Air Force for 10 years now and I listen to this song every time he is sent overseas 😢
@@jessieball6195 Adams is good. But Russell gave her the words in this song. Everyone brings something to a platform, how it is used, creates a master to have additional pieces add to it.
Please be aware that she is playing the piano on this track as well. I've always said that if someone is ever smart enough to tap Oleta to sing the "Star Spangled Banner", Whitney Houston's version will immediately be dropped to the #2 spot!
Watching the two of you and loving this beautiful song 🎵 by Oleta Adams is astounding. I dont want to say this here, but honestly, you two as black people can relate clearly to this song, that the two of you can critic and judge the level and degree and impact this song for your generation and maybe personally. I must admit, i am a Filipino, and we love songs like this that made it so famous anytime of the year, until now. And honestly, this song came out in the 80s, which is my era of very good black R&B music, jazz, and love songs. Honestly, you can't hear this type of song nowadays. Comparing the music today and those days in the 80s is incomparable. It is so powerful that it can speak of a love relationship that no matter how far that person importance and significance, you need to get there. And that is about this song for me . Try to listen to other black woman artists who made a hit single song that shook the air waves of every country in the world 1. Brenda Russell - Piano In the Dark 2. Oletta Adams - Get here if you can 3. Anita Baker
This song reminds me of the people and times that have entered our lives and exit in death or move away, its truly a song about what we experience in life. 1991 a long time ago.
One of the most beautiful voices of the last thirty years - totally under-appreciated.
A totally underrated talent. You could feel her voice in every part of you.
One of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. Written by Brenda Russell, Oleta put so much feeling in this song, I just cry at the end.
First heard this song when I was in college. Nobody sounds like Oleta. She's transcendent. Amazing voice.
This was on every radio station in the 90’s! Love it! You’ve no idea how gifted a singer she is until she begins. And then you can’t get enough. She’s a great pianist too!❤
Oleta will be 70 years old on May 4th this year. Such a beautiful voice!
Oleta Adams is also a masterful pianist and one class act. I truly love this song and I love y'all's reaction to it.
Played this at my brother's funeral 32 yrs ago...and this song still gets me every time
I ball my eyes out every time I hear this song.
One of the best 'soul' songs EVER ❤
This was such a good song. I think Brenda Russell who sang Piano In The Dark wrote this song as well.
Oohh I love that song!
Omg I haven't heard this song in 30 yrs. Lovely just lovely
Ps correct me if I'm wrong anyone. doesn't she play the piano on this too?
She transports me to a jazz piano bar, every time I hear it. 🔥💜
And I feel like I need to visit my Mom next Christmas 😉
I feel you Asia. This song touches something in my soul, the yearning for and missing a loved one.
This song definitely gets you in the feels. Anyone who’s ever been in love, knows the feeling of needing your partner to just get here -any way possible, because you need them. You need your person.
Oh Asia, here’s a big bear hug coming your way!❤❤❤❤
I met Oleta Adams once and she was so gracious and beautiful. What an amazing voice and woman.
One of the most beautiful self expressed songs ever. Great choice.
Adams's version of "Get Here", co-produced by Roland Orzabal from the band Tears for Fears (for whom she had performed the female vocals on the hit single "Woman in Chains" a year earlier), became her signature song.
This is my all-timeout beautiful song! I think it was in the movie “Jason’s Lyric”
Ms. Oleta Adams has one of the greatest voices in the music industry. Her voice resonates in every cell in one's body. This song is the greatest purest love song. Thank you Oleta Adams, we love you beautiful lady.
I see the love you show to each other, you both make my day often, thank you both so much !!! Papa Ray
Love love her voice. If God graced me with a voice I’d wanna sound like her. Love love this song.
I remember hearing this song in the early 90’s back in the UK and it was absolutely awesome!
Oleta’ s voice is so pure, soulful and just perfect! What an amazing talent!
Her voice penetrates the soul!
One of my all time favorite songs. Her voice is spectacular.
Saw Brenda Russell in concert many years ago. She told how the story of how this song came to her while standing in her kitchen doing dishes.
This is one of the best love songs ever and her voice is beautiful! Asia you’re completely right, this is a great great song! So talented! This song, plus Circle of Life, plus Everything Must Change. All magic. Makes us think of our relationships.
Extremely Emotional song. A knot in your throat, eyes start to water, her Voice, the piano flowing through , the drums- Beautiful ❗
Not only is this most beautiful songs Oleta's voice is sooo beautiful. I wish we got to enjoy more of her talent.

One of my favorite songs of all time. Beautiful voice. Great reaction, I love how Asia had to refill her tear ducts mid song
This song if my memory serves me right was the anthem the British Soldiers serving in Iraq adopted as their anthem to fam n friends.

Yep. This song still gets to me after 30+ years.
It took on new meaning a few years back... And I'll just leave it there.
Oleta Adams = so beautiful voice and songs... check out her song from Circle of Life: You've Got to Give Me Room. Love your reactions!
Oh, this song is just soo beautiful. I’ve loved it since it came out. Her voice, the music, the words…just beautiful.
Ahhhh perfection 💕
Love Asia's reaction, you can always tell when the song is moving her.
BEAUTIFUL 💐❤️
My top album to play in 1990 was Oleta’s Circle of One. ❤

This was the “theme song” for the troops coming home from the first gulf war.
Powerful delivery, every note is wholesome and not choppy. Perfect artist
