As others mentioned: having the weapon cologne from Argo is a must to get weapons with max power (normally it varies by +-5% with cologne it's always the +5%) and having ALL chips locked, so as long as 4 are good for your build you can do a perfect weapon.
At the shady general shop: refresh the shop until you see weapons with a needed chip at around the softcap level (for example weapon attact at 14-15%). This way even at 20+% you get 0.13-15% per weapon and not 0.01%. Even this way to go from softcap to hardcap (ex: weapon attack from 15 to 22%) you need about 35-40 weapons.
Farm money for the upgrades with the help of Arfa's investment system: do 3 quests (I suggest bullet beetle(lvl3), assault automaton(lvl4), lurker(lvl9) as these 3 can be done is 40sec), talk to arfa at home, get +2% to bank. At 9bil credit it's 180million / run, so about 4-6 times better (twice money, half/third time) than the mt-02 farm. Going from 2bil to 11bil is a good 5-6 hour gring though.
since update 1.7 or 1.8 you can use multiple weapons, don't have to do the upgrade one by one... saves a LOT of time.
don't forget the overclock chips (since 1.8) especially on snipers (most weapon go up by 3 power every 2 chips(almost nothing), snipers go much faster up). easiest to farm: grimodoom+elemental wizard in lost temple (about 110 chip/40min with a maxed benetnach4+ (until you run out of bullet))
chips:
- you always want them: weapon attack, optical/physial/explosive attack (depending on weapon), vs mech (80% of enemies are mechs, lately vs human is also good), weak point attack, damage at max hp (with healing you stay here and it's active even if you don't have max hp (for example at 80% hp you still get about 60-70% boost)), auto.reload (on firearms, not on sword)
- on pistols these are great: weapon range (at a certain distance this can give an effective 30% bonus), extra debuff (especially on ordinal ray 3 and when using the electro-stun)
- crit rate only when it's 5-10% or higher by default, also crit damage for 200% or higher
- from behind: when you have space for it and swords

@@SoxSuffering sadly you need to do a new game+ on extreme difficulty for it. It's 'easiest' to set it to extreme for the NG+ and go through. You get the last level when you enter/unlock the forest area (4th area in game)
To be honest you only need to do 3 battles on extreme, but if you can do them, then you can go through the rest on extreme too:
- boss in cave (only story battle counts, doesn't matter if you later go back and kill it on extreme),
- boss in Underground Labyrinth (only story battle counts, doesn't matter if you later go back and kill it on extreme)
- mission where you fight Kirito,Sinon,Yuuki and Kureha to become the squardon leader. (you can't repeat this one, so no problem)
At this point if you have all the updates (probably) and all 4 dlc-s (hopefully) then she will be 12 by the time you run around in the forest toward the ship.
Also with NG+ you loose some things:
- dual wield: you get it back after the point where you originally unlocked it (last battle against Basalt Joe)
- sword and gun art: you get it back after the Kirito episode against deathgun
- all affinities:... you have to regrind them, BUT since update 1.6-ish you can turn on that you get double AND in NG+ there are chests that give an item, that also double it (so 4x total). Some of these chests are hard to get if you are not prepared (Kirito's on the rooftops in the 3rd area), but there are videos on youtube for them (altough getting most is easy, there may be 2 that are hard to get, one of them being Kirito's).
Personally I'd grind a few levels before starting the NG+ (to around level 120) online/farming npc-s to make the 2nd run fast (with skipping cutscenes the game can be done in about 2-3 hours). If you mess up like I did (I was lvl78 when I did the NG+) you'll curse a lot as at that point the +70 lvl on enemies is a lot.
Also fastest way to grind Affinity:
- set the 2x in options and get the chests
- get a lot of bounty by farming weapons/accessories. (you need about 600pt of affinity for lvl4 100%, you get 1pt every 1000 bounty or so)
- use the triangle (on ps4, no idea on xbox/pc/switch) to cheer them when they do something (also gives 1pt), but no need to concentrate on this, they get to the max with bounties pretty fast (2-3x dungeon on dlc4 area)
@@maurernorbert7031 In addition, Argo sells something for 5 million (Echo of Nostalgia or something) to increase affinity gain further. Also, the fastest method I've found to grind affinity is to repeatedly let your allies die and res them over and over again. To do this I use Omni-Eraser in Subway B (After the Midpoint just go left and then through the 2 teleporters). You need to fight a few enemies to get to it but basically you get to it, then sit in a corner and let your NPCs die. Set them all to Rendezvous to you, stand in a corner, then set them to standby. Kill the 2 single artillery adds as they will screw it up. If you can tank a hit, use it to kill the NPCs faster. Rush back to the corner if you're low. Basically you can max 3 NPCs at a time this way in about 20-30 mins per run. Takes a few hrs to max everyone but it's the fastest way I know of. Learned it from a youtube video but too lazy to go find it again.
@@Ryokishine doing the revive grind takes too long. It needs just a few million bounty to max them. Going through the dlc4 dungeons once is usually enough. Or 2-3 farming runs in the abyss dungeon floor 47+. (the kirito battle gives 300k per battle)
plus you can use the chips from weapons you have picked up through coop and storyline battles to strengthen other weapons you favor more than others. nice job Ventus!
Should mention going to Argo after beating the game once. She sells a cologne that makes all memory chips locked on all weapons for 1 hour and you can stack it up to 32 hours. Also pressing the pause button while in the transformation menu will select the weapon you are transforming and then continuing to press the pause button on weapons will select multiple weapons and enhance all shared memory chips between the base weapon and the multiple weapons.

@@theslayer7905 It probably has to do with the enhancing level, if you're not on NG+, you can only enhance up to Rank 9 weapons. Ranks 10 and 11 don't show up, but depending on where you are in the story, this can be even lower.
Assault rifles max out at weapon rank 11 and u won’t be allowed to do so anymore
Best way to do this 5% or less crit rate the crit rate chip is useless, if doing PvE you want dmg vs mech, dmg type, weapon attack, weakspot, dmg at max hp, crit dmg, the other 2 chips are fillers of your choice for behemoth you want Explosive attack and a filler, swords you can take weakspot out but you dont have too as you can still hit weakspots with swords its Uncommon on some enemies tho and I wouldnt recommend physical attack on a sword unless you use recharge accessories or always have pistol arts one leaving swords with 3 to 4 fillers. Also getting Liz Modification lvl 12 is the way to go as enhancing cost less materials and transforming rank 11s cost 9 chips rank 10s 6 chips and rank 9s 3 chips rank 8 and lower it cost only 1. Also you can hit the start button on your weapon than start button on all the material weapons to enhance faster
Not sure if i heard correctly, but around the 5 minute mark you mentioned that maxing the dmg vs mechs, you can still increase it despite hitting the hardcap at 29.50%??? Been upgrading all my weapons but it just stop after the % hardcap, but if it still gets better after that hardcap just doesnt display, that would be epic.

Alright mate been watching your content on sao for a while now i have a question how do you raise the weapon rank cap for weapons that drop in the field im lvl 160 on extreme mode and still only getting rank 6 max legendarys is it just random to get max rank i think is 11 isnt it? How do i raise that? Thanks keep up the good content
Sadly, you can only raise it a max of 2 times, or less if it already has a + or ++ on it.

I understand everything. The only thing that confuses me is.
Does rarity matter? Like I have a uncommon sniper for my AI companion. That does way more damage than a legendary sniper I have. But both are at rank 2-3. So I'm confused on how the uncommon one is more powerful.

It’s the amount of memory chips they can have, a common weapon can’t have memory chips, while a legendary have the most weapon chips
Sometimes the lower rarity items or weapons you get are better than the best ones (In terms of Damage or certain stats, although rare to see). However the Legendary can have a total of 4 slots compared to the less rarity ones that have less slots to unlock.

Hello folks. I'm a brand new player only level 48 looking to maximize my weapons im using a masamune g7 sword rank 8 its grey no memory chips but it hits really hard at 850 havnt found any sword that comes close cant seem to enhance it or transform it either. Is there any maps I can goto that might drop something comparable even in the slightest?

Why not put Vs Lifeform and Humanoids on swords too?
Because most lifeforms would rather attack A npc with a bullet line then you with a sword or even if your fighting something like a abyss guide they are still more likely to attack your team mate then you unless your doing alot more damage or your npc also has a sword. humanoids like BOB or dlc enemies are player like characters (I hope you knew that not to sound mean or anything) these guys most of the time have less health then a normal enemy but most of the time hit harder. A sword does good damage against humanoids so upgrading a sword to take down humanoids will just be a waste of a memory chip slot. unless your sword has very low damage and you want to do something like BOB then I guess that's fine but its beter to use a sniper or a good AR instead but hey you do you. Anyway that is how I answered your question I might be wrong about what I said but I'm just saying this with my experience mabe you want to do more damage against lifeforms or humanoids that's fine I'm just giving some advice

dude, i guess you have some... miscalculations... in this game...
damage type bonuses work only as modifiers of the existing damage on specific weapon. It means that if you add explosive damage to your sniper rifle, that never have explosive damage - you just spent a slot with zero effect.
Your guide is disinformation.
