I loved your piece in Jason's 4 dev's 1 app video. I thought you had a great approach to buiding your well thought out app (even though you had thought of it ahead of time), and it gives devs some tips on things to think about before entering their local hack-a-thons. So end result, is I'd love to see more like this!
I'm into it. Is it a good learning format? No. Is it good entertainment? For me, yes. Things I liked about it: * Loved to see devs just building fun stuff for the hell of it (exposing themselves to something new was a plus) * Enjoyed seeing everyone push through their own points of struggle (as developers we sometimes feel that imposter syndrome creep in and can trick ourselves into thinking that because we struggle we're somehow less of a developer; this helps debunk that and shows that it just goes with the territory) * It put a AstraDB on my radar I think your list of Cons is relevant. On that note, I think you're the only one who came out looking like a 10x dev 😆, but now we know why. Oh, and I wouldn't call what you did cheating, I'd call it Risk Mitigation. You minimized the risk of failing to complete a build for the show. Just another tool in a developer's toolbelt! Is the format sustainable at the level of production you described? Probably not, at least not without Sponsor$. I for one, hope to see more.
Not only for a reality show, i think there was a missed opportunity to say you can prepare for any hackathon, project, job, job interview etc. If i am applying for a job and there is a piece of tech im not familiar with that they're using, i will make a practice project before so im ready for the interview.
It was interesting that the vector queries were taking 800ms or more. There were only ~300 records in the database. Which leads me to believe that there is probably a performance hole in their HNSW indexing where the index performance is sub-optimal below a certain number of records. But hey, what do I know, I'm just the React guy. 😂
My main takeaway, you're sitting in front of a green screen!? I honestly thought you were in a blue room :(

I'm going to watch the TV show!
Jack was on this show like a super cool anime character who made everything right looking cool 😂
Jason pointing out that you went on a sidequest showing the perf metrics was hilarious.

I liked watching the show! It was fun watching cool stuff being built fast.
This is REALLY cool. Would not have known about this show without your vid. I really hope more things like this pop up.
