After he backed up Crocop standing I think he fell in love with striking. Many of his wins after that came via KO. Arlovski, Rogers, Tym, Johnson, Ishi, Mir... But to be honest at the same time I belive that was the reason of his losses. But hey, what do I know. He is the GOAT.
You're absolutely correct, fedor's decline started when he became a head hunter. Before that he would ram into his oponents with Wild punches and insane ground and pound. He was unstopable
Fedor is the MMA GOAT. You are very lucky to train with him. Essentially undefeated for 32 fights in 10 years, no other heavyweight has such a record. The best.
The trainer's name is Peter Teijsse, he was the striking coach of Fedor. Peter used to train in 'Vos Gym' in Amsterdam together with Ernesto Hoost. Peter has a gym now in Amstelveen, which is next to Amsterdam, still teaches kickboxing. Ernesto gives a guest training every first Monday of the month. I've been training there for eight years now, very hard and intense but very rewarding as well, Osu! 👊
