I do wish that we could get a Castlevania DS collection as those games are all fantastic. Only awkward bit is that Dawn Of Sorrow is a direct sequel to Aria Of Sorrow for those that don't want to be spoiled. I very much want a Megaman Star Force collection too since it would make tracking down those games so much easier, just like with Battle Network. I never played anything from Star Force, unlike Battle Network, so I would love that convenience. One game collection (that doesn't have more than 2 games) I'm playing through now is Baten Kaitos 1 & 2 HD remaster. I love how you can make new cards by mixing cards together. Also I'm a big fan of monolithsofts work so it's interesting to see what kinda games they made before making xenoblade.
Great list! Currently I have the the Crash Bandicoot trilogy, Collection of Mana, all of the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters, the Ninja Turtles Cowabunga Collection as well as the Mega Man Classic and X Legacy Collections. There's one you left out but understandably so, the Dragon Quest I-III collection. They might not be as impressive as the other games you covered here, but as a huge RPG fan it's very satisfying to own the origin of my favorite video game genre. Also the physical version seems to be a Switch exclusive compilation! I have already completed the first 2 games and found that they held up very well, saving III for a special occasion.
About the Atelier Mysterious Trilogy Deluxe Pack, these versions are treated as separate games compared to the original. It may not be much of an issue for Switch players, since the only game that became part the collection that is on Switch is Atelier Lydie & Suelle, but for PS4 and PC players who owned the original games, your saves won't work with the DX versions, meaning you'll be starting from scratch. There are no physical versions for any of the Atelier collections that are in English, except the asian Switch ports, so be wary when picking up one. But if you haven't played any of these games, content-wise, the collections are a way to go. The only loss was the Lydie & Suelle's limited-time Everybody's Golf crossover costume, but aside that, everything is fine.
Great list! Glad to see Spyro on here also. As much as I enjoy Crash, Spyro was my first 3D platformer as well so I'll always gravitate toward his games more for that.
I didn't realise how many big name (and smaller but beloved) series made it onto the Switch like this. It's a lovely testament to how versatile the system is, and a terrific video to show them all off!
It's probably called something different in the US, and they took out some games for the Switch version for some reason, but I really like the MegaDrive Collection.
I would have mentioned the Great Ace Attorney Chronicles collection when the main trilogy was too, those games were never released outside of Japan until now!

I never take a high quality collection for granted these days. If only because the last ten-fifteen years have done so much damage to so many classic titles. I really don't see what the Mario 3D collection is doing on this list - you can't even buy it anymore. It was made for scalpers before fans and that will always be its legacy.
Yeah, I have heard quite a few times people say that the Switch is inferior to the Wii and Wii U when it comes to the retro games lineup since it doesn't have Virtual Console, when all of these collections, plus stuff like arcade archives, put it way above those 2 at least when it comes to third party stuff, with not only more games but also most of the time better emulation, more options and better prices. It's a shame there is no eshop section for "retro Collections" I guess.
The emulation on Wii Virtual console was so poor. Take Sonic 3. Nobody talks about how that version actually had all the original music intact! Why don't people push that version? The audio quality is completely messed up. Pops, glitches, stuttering. A real mess.

Fantastic top 21 I have most of them. 1 collection I always wanted for the switch is the Disney afternoon collection, such a shame it skipped the switch. Other collections I’d love to see is a metal slug collection and and set of arcade archives collections(in physical form)
I love Capcom Fighting Collection. The ability to play Darkstalkers is what brought me in, and I discovered I also love Red Earth. So glad this game exists.
@@Fools_Requiem A Capcom Fighting Collection 2 that focus on Capcom's 3-D fighters like Rival Schools, Power Stone, and the Street Fighter EX games would be a great idea.
Digital Eclipse is absolutely leading the way when it comes to retro compilations. The games are presented perfectly, with all kinds of bells and whistles to boot. PLUS bonus features! Atari 50 and TMNT Cowabunga Collection are among the best compliations ever, for any system. SNK 40th Anniversary is pretty great too.
They have a lot of cool extras but the games themselves always have a ton of input lag. The Mega Man Legacy Collection and Cowabunga Collection had a whopping 8 frames of lag. A company like M2 is much better at emulating games where their collections always come out to like 2-3 frames of lag on Switch.
@@seanmcbay I have a hard time believing any game has 2-3 frames of input delay on Switch. Feels like a system wide problem rather than being localized to individual games.
And with shit tons of input lag that make them unplayable. Play them on real hardware and see the difference, it's like you are running in mud when you play the digital eclipse ports. All those extras could easily be a few twiter posts.
I love the Final Fantasy collection, the Mario 3D All Stars collection is good, if not incomplete. It lacks Galaxy 2 and 3D Land. Also Mario 64's controls are so difficult. I wish we had a Dragon Quest collection that had 1-10, or at least 1-8. I like being able to play 1-3 as individual releases but so many DQ games are unavailable on the Switch.
Super Mario 3D Land WAS made with the 3DS in mind, it'll be stupid to lazily port it on the Switch just because it's the Switch. Just grab a 3DS and the game instead of waiting for a lazy and full-priced Switch port of it
@@AxelWedstar411 Dragon Quest 4-6 on Google play delete your logs if you haven't played them in a while. I liked DQ 5, but still liked 4 better. I did beat 5, and started 6 but after giving it a rest for awhile I went back to it to find my file gone.
You forgot the Blizzard Arcade Collection with its amazing update to Rock n' Roll Racing and bonus material for all the games, the Bioshock trilogy, SNK 40th Anniversary Collection, plus some that may be eshop exclusive bundles like Persona 3-5, or the DOOM games with a selection of free WADS for I/II.
The Atari 50 collection not only lets me experience gaming before the NES but also the Jaguar which I don't know much about except It was Pre-PS1 I can also play some Atari Lynx which looks amazing on handheld mode
Wow. You guys are really pumping out videos these days. 😎 TMNT and Castlevania Advance are my top. They are games I want to play and have so much good extras. Next place is Mana collection. Fun but lacks extra content other collections have. The rest are interesting but not my top because they are not a priority to play for me.
Did the samsho collection add a option to remove the screen flash? Because the screen flashing for literally every attack even a kick turned me off from going further with the classic samsho games.
My personal Top 5 would be Atari 50th 👾, Castlevania Anniversary 🦇, Contra 💥 , Cowabunga Collection 🍕 and WONDER BOY! Especially the Wonder Boy physical release that had all of the Japanese version as well!
Although I believe it is only a physical collection, the Doom Slayers Collection has got to be one of the best options out there. With Doom (1993), Doom II, Doom 64, Doom 3 BFG, and Doom (2016), there's practically no end!
I'm pretty sure when I got the Capcom fighting collection, they actually bundled it with the street fighter collection. A collection of collections if you will.
Imo, Konami blows any Capcom collection out of the water, ironically enough: -Multiple versions included from around the world -Scans of advertisements, instruction manuals and strategy guides also from around the world -Proper localizations for the games included -User friendly menus What frustrates me the most about Capcom's collections are that as an european specifically, the Ace Attorney and Mega Man collections feel too cheap and not up to standard compared to the competence: only in English (a few sparce times they include two more languages, but never spanish or italian), no physical releases and the worst offender Zero marketing in European regions to make sure these sell well enough to guarantee better releases. And It is a shame, because these games Capcom want to rerelease are very good... but they just aren't worth 60 or 30 bucks compared to a Level-5 title or even a Konami collection where not only is the localization very good, they also just include more content which makes It feel like a solid deal. Capcom shenanigans aside, this was a solid list. Glad to see some cool and underrated bundles or compilations shown here.
I wish the Crash and Spyro Collections had visual toggles so I can play the games in PS1 graphics with modern controls and save points. I didn't grow up playing either series (I grew up playing the SNES and N64), but the graphics for those series have a comfortable feel to them.
While it more than made up for it in historical content, my only nitpicks on the Atari 50 collection were that it didn't have touchscreen controls for paddle and trackball games like the Atari Flashbacks collection did and was missing a few games from that collection. The touchscreen is the only thing besides a mouse that really replicates the 1:1 feel of trackballs and paddles imo.
I love these collections, especially on switch since it doubles as a handheld, and when you can grab em on sale, the value offer is insane! I've never played the Battlenetwork or GBA Castlevania games, for example, and I guarantee you I will buy these collections just to have them for some point down the road, because trying to find those original carts is just way too much hassle, and way too expensive for me. Not sure why these collections being announced seem to upset some very vocal people in the gaming community, if you don't want them don't buy em. For people like me, they're too good to pass up, even if I don't always buy them day 1
The Castlevania Anniversary Collection is the only one on this list that I refuse to buy unless sold in a boxed set with the Advance Collection and a third collection that doesn't exist yet. _Though I should mention that said Anniversary Collection is the only one on this list that I actually currently own._ But in all seriousness, assuming the focus of this third collection is the DS and maybe the 3DS, what else could be included? What would be this collection's Dracula X?
Though the more I think about it, "Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate" would probably be more likely to get a standalone port using the same engine as Metroid Dread then be bundled alongside the DS trilogy.
@Nathaniel_E_Dearing I'm not exactly frothing at the mouth to have Mirror of Fate on the Switch, but it's inclusion in a collection wouldn't be a deal-breaker. Of course, when it comes to games that rly ought to be on the Switch but aren't, a certain PS1 Castlevania title comes to mind...
@@AxelWedstar411 You refer to Symphony of the Night. Understandable. However, it can't happen due to Konami signing an agreement that keeps it exclusive to PlayStation. But there is a potential loophole: If they were to localize the SEGA Saturn version, then maybe _that_ could somehow be ported Switch. But neither the PS1, PSP, or PS4 version can happen.
if it wasnt int a collection, but available on the console, Xenoblade 1+2+3, and Azure Striker Gunvolt 1.2.IX, IX:2+ 3 are myu favorites. I do feel i should pick some of these up.
Such a shame that they didn't go ahead and include super Mario Galaxy 2 on that collection. Let alone the various and numerous extras they could have included in regard to media, old commercials, etc etc. Artwork and just so many other little things for this much loved long-standing franchise. Why would they continue to hold out? Why would they not spoil their fans and elevate themselves that much higher above other publishers, some of which who do spoil us in those ways but not with the Nintendo IPs. I feel very similar for so long now about the namco museum collections as well and what missed opportunities they have always been, how lacking in many ways, ultimately largely milking the customer base and never truly spoiling them. It's a shame.
Question about the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster. Why are people complaining about the font? Is it illegible? Is it written in Comic Sans(which I also question why people hate)? I never got the complaint, cause through screenshots look fine to me.
11:20 blasphemy 😮 I will never forgive you for this 😢 Link's Awakening DX is everything to me ❤ By the way, who got a better remake? FF adventure or Link's Awakening? Hm? Damn yes it's Link's Awakening 😊 also, FF Adventure is released on Android 🤢 😂 Sorry I just wanted to talk about how much I love Link's Awakening & you gave me an excuse 😅 I own Castlevania Anniversary Collection & it's a marvelous piece of software specially with Kid Dracula in it. Highly recommend it Great video 👍 I actually looked for a video like this some time ago but I believe didn't find anything good, so yeah, this video is definitely needed ❤ Edit: oh you didn't talk about Dragon Quest 1,2,3 remakes collection. it's not good or what?
FF Adventure got a remake for gba: sword of mana. and about DQ the "remakes" they're like pixel remasters: shit compared to the previous remakes, you'll have a better experience playing on SNES or Gameboy Color Ones
3D All Stars bar none. Super Mario 64 is a perfect video game, Sunshine is highly underrated, and Galaxy is one of the greatest video games of all time, if not the greatest game of the 2000s. Quality over quantity, but with Metal Gear coming out in a few weeks it's a serious contender as well
@@AxelWedstar411I'd imagine so -- those grid-like level designs were inherently based around tank controls; if they were changed to analogue, then precision platforming would be near impossible
How come you didn't mention the Dragon Quest collection of the first 3 games in the series? You mentioned Final Fantasy, so it would stand to reason you'd mention Dragon Quest too.
I'm just waiting for DQs IV - VI. Having the SNES Final Fantasys on the Switch at long last has given me hope that they're on their way too. Or SE could just give us DQXII. That'd be gr8 too.
No Crash Bandicoot Insane Trilogy? =( One collection that often gets overlooked is the Sega Genesis Classics. Yeah, variations have been released on all consoles across generations, but it doesn’t make the pedigree of titles any less. $30 for 50 games ranging from all genres, including: Streets of Rage 1, 2, 3 Phantasy Star 2, 3, 4 Shining Force 1 & 2 Shinobi 3 Comix Zone Beyond Oasis Toejam and Earl 1 & 2
Great video! I gotta nominate the Cowabunga Collection as my favorite, particularly since it's a license and Konami's still being...modern Konami for the most part. Huge Street Fighter fan, but Alpha 2, 3 and 3rd Strike have better home ports. There's still a couple months to do a 35th Anniversary Collection with them, heh.
HUGE downside to Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection: *no version of Street Fighter 4 whatsoever* Like... seriously? They couldn't port a PS3 game on the Switch, let alone all 4 versions?
Megaman and Megaman X collection, TMNT collection, Genesis collection, Psikyo collection are very high in input lag and are not good collections. All collections done by M2 are great. All done by Digital Eclipse are awful unless it is the Street Fighter collection. Hamster is ok enough, sometimes very good. City connection is hit or miss with their ports, but Psikyo collection was terrible, which is a shame cause most of the games with lag would be incredible to play if they were as responsive as when played on CRT and original hardware. Play those in mame or on pc with emulators. Way less lag, even on an LCD screen.
To be fair, the Genesis Classics Collection is held back by its particularly bad input lag. Like, if you only have PS or Xbox, and that's your only option for Genesis games, it's serviceable, but the Switch has NSO and SEGA AGES
The fact that Atari 50 literally confirms the employees’ involvement with drugs as a badge of honor is hysterical.

@@Fools_Requiem A Capcom Fighting Collection 2 that focus on Capcom's 3-D fighters like Rival Schools, Power Stone, and the Street Fighter EX games would be a great idea.
this video is really high quality, keep up the great work!!
These guys also did the Spyro Season of games.
Yeah, I have not noticed, nor do I care. I'm still having fun with Cowabunga Collection a year later.
"Just imagine how much bigger your backlog could be!"
No! Don't joke about that! XD
Love to thee the Samurai Spirits collection on here. It’s outstanding.
Just grab a 3DS and the game instead of waiting for a lazy and full-priced Switch port of it
Wouldn't mind seeing what all the fuss is about with Dragon Quest 5. I know it's on Google Play, but having it on Switch would be more convenient.
@@AxelWedstar411
Dragon Quest 4-6 on Google play delete your logs if you haven't played them in a while.
I liked DQ 5, but still liked 4 better. I did beat 5, and started 6 but after giving it a rest for awhile I went back to it to find my file gone.
Derrick, I encourage you to pick a homemade teleprompter. You not looking at the camera, is driving me NUTS!!! :P
Megaman zero zx collection my favorite I had the ds one but putting the zx games on the switch was a bonus 👌 👍
The Atari 50 collection not only lets me experience gaming before the NES
but also the Jaguar which I don't know much about except It was Pre-PS1
I can also play some Atari Lynx which looks amazing on handheld mode
Shoutout for all shooter collection. Aleste Collection is one excellent example.
Incredible video Derrick
Wow. You guys are really pumping out videos these days. 😎
TMNT and Castlevania Advance are my top.
I like what i played but the screen flashing is just obnoxious to me
My personal Top 5 would be Atari 50th 👾, Castlevania Anniversary 🦇, Contra 💥 , Cowabunga Collection 🍕 and WONDER BOY!
I stopped buying these now that I have FPGA to play old games on but I’m glad they exist so more people have access to classic games.
Man battle network series deserve more attention
I'm pretty sure when I got the Capcom fighting collection, they actually bundled it with the street fighter collection. A collection of collections if you will.
Imo, Konami blows any Capcom collection out of the water, ironically enough:
-Multiple versions included from around the world
-Scans of advertisements, instruction manuals and strategy guides also from around the world
-Proper localizations for the games included
-User friendly menus
What frustrates me the most about Capcom's collections are that as an european specifically, the Ace Attorney and Mega Man collections feel too cheap and not up to standard compared to the competence: only in English (a few sparce times they include two more languages, but never spanish or italian), no physical releases and the worst offender Zero marketing in European regions to make sure these sell well enough to guarantee better releases.
I have to say that's megaman x collection is my favorite, because it has two of my all-time favorite mega Man games (X5 and X8)
What about the assassins creed ezio or rebel collections.
No Ninja Gaiden Master Collection?
I noticed derrick's left eyebrow is always raised up like that and I can't tell he's doing it on purpose or he just looks like that
They should add fantasy zone collection on the switch! Love that spaceship game especially fantasy zone 2 from the sega master system!
Great video! Thank you!
I really enjoy the sega genesis collection and the presentation with the old tv and the games on a shelf to select from.
The input lag is unreal though. I strongly don’t recommended it unless you’re only going to play Phantasy Star.
I've noticed more than a decade ago, Mega Man games began to disappear fast for Nintendo systems in shops.
You know of any more that are yet to come out?
11:20 blasphemy 😮 I will never forgive you for this 😢 Link's Awakening DX is everything to me ❤
By the way, who got a better remake? FF adventure or Link's Awakening? Hm? Damn yes it's Link's Awakening 😊 also, FF Adventure is released on Android 🤢
😂 Sorry I just wanted to talk about how much I love Link's Awakening & you gave me an excuse 😅
I own Castlevania Anniversary Collection & it's a marvelous piece of software specially with Kid Dracula in it. Highly recommend it
Great video 👍 I actually looked for a video like this some time ago but I believe didn't find anything good, so yeah, this video is definitely needed ❤
Edit: oh you didn't talk about Dragon Quest 1,2,3 remakes collection. it's not good or what?
FF Adventure got a remake for gba: sword of mana.
and about DQ the "remakes" they're like pixel remasters: shit compared to the previous remakes, you'll have a better experience playing on SNES or Gameboy Color Ones
3D All Stars bar none. Super Mario 64 is a perfect video game, Sunshine is highly underrated, and Galaxy is one of the greatest video games of all time, if not the greatest game of the 2000s. Quality over quantity, but with Metal Gear coming out in a few weeks it's a serious contender as well
Glad to see TMNT high on the list. It’s such a fantastic collection
The extras are cool but way too much input lag on the games themselves. Up to 8 frames.
Amazing!
Shmup Collection is pretty damn good too
Idc what everyone says, but I really love the Super Nintendo, Gameboy, etc apps on NSO
I’m SO hyped for the Tomb Raider Trilogy!
Is that tank controls only?
@@AxelWedstar411I'd imagine so -- those grid-like level designs were inherently based around tank controls; if they were changed to analogue, then precision platforming would be near impossible
My eyes are up here >:(-B-
How come you didn't mention the Dragon Quest collection of the first 3 games in the series? You mentioned Final Fantasy, so it would stand to reason you'd mention Dragon Quest too.
I'm just waiting for DQs IV - VI. Having the SNES Final Fantasys on the Switch at long last has given me hope that they're on their way too.
Or SE could just give us DQXII. That'd be gr8 too.
I'd love to see the Zenethian Trilogy get a rerelease; the DS versions are all great, but it'd be nice to have them on Switch
Until they fix the Sonic 3 music and Knuckles' bizarre special stage sprite in Sonic CD, I disagree about Sonic Origins.
I can forgive the latter, but they should of at least used the later prototype music tracks that were more refined.
Sonics 3 music will never be fixed in this, or any later release
@@ms.pickledpenaut8363 That's why I'm thankful I bought the original game on Steam before Sega delisted it 🙏
Cry some more
@@birboii Alright, enjoy your botched music then lmao
If you're blue, and you don't know where to go to
Why don't you go where fashion sits?
Put it on the Switch
No Crash Bandicoot Insane Trilogy? =(
One collection that often gets overlooked is the Sega Genesis Classics. Yeah, variations have been released on all consoles across generations, but it doesn’t make the pedigree of titles any less. $30 for 50 games ranging from all genres, including:
Streets of Rage 1, 2, 3
Phantasy Star 2, 3, 4
Shining Force 1 & 2
Shinobi 3
Comix Zone
Beyond Oasis
Toejam and Earl 1 & 2
No mention of the Mega Man Legacy Collections, Ash will be upset.
We watching the same video? 10:21 my dude.
The emulation in the X Collection feels off.
Wow, the sega Collection didn't make the cut. it's easily the best collection for your value and is guaranteed to have a game for everyone.
Great video! I gotta nominate the Cowabunga Collection as my favorite, particularly since it's a license and Konami's still being...modern Konami for the most part. Huge Street Fighter fan, but Alpha 2, 3 and 3rd Strike have better home ports. There's still a couple months to do a 35th Anniversary Collection with them, heh.
grandia collection
HUGE downside to Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection: *no version of Street Fighter 4 whatsoever*
Like... seriously? They couldn't port a PS3 game on the Switch, let alone all 4 versions?
One huge one is missing and have gone up in price
Still waiting for a Zero Escape trilogy to release so I can double dip.
I disagree on the Mega Man Collections, they play just fine.
You’re trying to tell me there was no need to include or even mention the Sega Genesis Collection?!
To be fair, the Genesis Classics Collection is held back by its particularly bad input lag. Like, if you only have PS or Xbox, and that's your only option for Genesis games, it's serviceable, but the Switch has NSO and SEGA AGES
Crash Bandicoot N.Sane should of made it some were.
Nintendo Switch has so many games....
I ❤️ collections 💯🤩😍👑
0:51 I wish Portal Collection had more than 2 games :(
That would require the series to have more than two games.
>pronouncing Mana correctly
>referring to "metroidvania" as search action
he just like me fr!!
Who are you talking to?
Bioshock
Yeah no, Nintendo being as lazy as they were with Mario 3D All Stars is inexcusable.
To me it isn't THAT BAD. Silent Hill HD Collection on Xbox 360 and PS3 is way worse than 3D All Stars
No Mega Man Soccer on any of the collections? Trash!
Is this @Try4ce My life in gaming little brother?
Ok fine, I’ll buy them all! 😂
I'm surprised you didn't mention the Sega Genesis Classics collection.
