  • Most microwaves are similar and can be fixed in the same manner. Check for presence of electric current in all areas before starting any work!

    I wanted to tell you how much I appreciate you taking the time to make this video. I went through quite a few videos and none of them were like my microwave. Our fuse goes out about once a year. Anyway, my husband would always fix it. I would help collecting the screws cleaning off the dust etc. but never paid enough attention to the details. He just very unexpectedly passed from stage 4 cancer and was the love of my life so it's been very difficult. You gave excellent and very clear instructions where I was able to get it done. I can't say thank you enough! God Bless, Jul

    What made the fuse blow, that's the issue.

      Good question. I was able to fix the issue by changing the fuse once. Another time, I figured out it was a capacitor issue because the fuse kept blowing.

    How do I know what wattage fuse my microwave needs?

    is there a screw that needs to be unscrewed before the control panel can be lifted to access the grill to change the fuse?

    • @homeintheozarks
      @homeintheozarks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, screws should be on top of panel there and the grill should have two more.

    Hey dude I just saw this and I’m having the same issue - NO POWER! It was fine yesterday however about a month ago the clock stopped displaying (but everything else in the display worked, timers, etc.). May I ask the model number of your microwave? Mine is JVM7195EK2ES (GE - gray color) but I do not see that third screw on the right top to remove the control panel.
    BTW: Glad you mentioned about the electrical current still possible due to the capacitor!

    • @homeintheozarks
      @homeintheozarks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't have the model number since I don't live at that house anymore, sorry. Capacitor will shock if not discharged for sure. You may have turned off the clock display simply, try the menu and see if you can turn it back on since you say that all other functions work.

      Also, there is a way to test the capacitor with a volt meter, it's a funky test but you can check that way if you need to replace the capacitor and the issue is not the fuse.

      @@homeintheozarks Thanks - I could look inside and mine has 2 fuses. They are line fuses that are white with a black band and do not appear to be blown, but hard to tell. (Fuse type: www.genuinereplacementparts.com/ge-dvm7195dk2ww-line-fuse-genuine-oem?msclkid=a5ac7ae1f4c1104e12981ac32adc4ccd). Thanks again

      @@FunAtDisney That fuse price is a ripoff. Just get a standard fuse, usually 20 amp.
      Edit: Hold that thought. I thought your microwave was 120 volt.

      @@paulmonk7820 Thank you - I ended up getting a new Microwave. I did order fuses online for much less, but they didn’t help (and I did use mu ohm meter on the old fuse and it was fine. I also tested the thermo fuse (coupler) and that was fine as well. So I suspected it was something in the control panel board and not worth going any further. A new Microwave was $280. Just he way things are made now days!

    If a fuse goes bad most likely you have a bad load or short
