Hi folks. Please enjoy this new HD version of our Battle Masters retro unboxing video. This version replaces the original SD video that we posted back in June 2020.
Yup, love this game. I remember being a kid and my uncle bought BM game for my cousin. I pleaded with my parents to buy me a copy, never did cuz we were dirt poor. I bought two used sets about 5 yrs ago, combined them both added dragons with their own dice, me and my kids have hrs of fun with some tweaks in the rules. Lot of good fun memories with my boys
Nice to see Battlemasters get some love instead of languishing in Heroquest’s shadow! I’d love to see these get painted and fielded in some skirmish games. Back in the day I saw so many copies scavenged by wargamers to bulk out their Empire, Orc, and Chaos armies. The chaos archers and horses often got chopped up to convert into chaos centaurs.
I bought one of these when it came out. I was less than patient removing the figures from the sprue. We played this game like 5 times I think. I did see one at a flea market for $35 a couple years ago that was supposed to be complete, but when I circled back, it was gone. He did have a complete Herosquest that had been played the hell out of that he wanted $100 dollars for. I wish I has bought a second one back in 1992. Lionheart was another board game of the same type that used a smaller board; that I picked a couple three of to use as mini's. You need one of those too.
The minis are actually the old plastics that GW designed just made in a different plastic. You can use them in GW tourneys really. That's why we bought them on clearance so many moons ago for less than $10.
I still have this game but we don't play it anymore. This was a great game when my sons were younger as the rules were easy to understand and for them to follow. I saw it as a pre-game to Warhammer Fantasy which we still play today. The cannon was great because you had the circle tile deck so you didn't know if the cannon was going to hit the target or not.
One of my favotie games. We played it with the original instructions for the camapign of the booklet (very original) and a for a short time later, but then we changed the instructions and during the years the game was adapted for many other of our games, D&D or other RPGs (like Fighting Fantasy). The board is used for Lord of the Rings miniature games (using bases to form squads of miniatures) and dragon battles for Attack Wing. The original instructions are great for little kids and you can add some children friendly toys like fisher price knight and my little pony to make girls play. It's a treasure!
My brother and I had this game and we definitely left it laying out on the floor! It was really fun, I liked the cannon because as the younger brother, it was the only way I could destroy my bro. I ended up painting all the pieces, even the castle. Sadly my Mom tossed it, along with HeroQuest at some point in the past.
Nice! I bought two of these many years ago at KayBee Toy Store. They were on clearance for $10 each!😲😎 I never played the game, just used the minis for AD&D. They paint up nicely.
What are those tiles? What are the bushes? What are the other deck of cards? What are those circle explosion pieces? How many times can these guys get hit? Can these guys move first or does he attack first? How many licks does it take to get to the tootsie roll centre of a tootsie pop? The world may never know
Battle Masters is an underutilized resource in wargaming. It's a shame the pieces have gotten more expensive over the past 3-4 years. Up until about 2017 you could pick up the various parts dirt cheap. I have several hundred of these models stretched across several armies.

The best thing about Battle Masters is this unboxing video!

I agree Battlemasters was/is an excellent warhammer lite table top war game! There's a sub reddit if your interested www.reddit.com/r/Battlemasters?
We made such a mess at my moms house way back then! lol Such good times! And no one lost an eye!

Awesome to see this! Was painting the beast men from this some months ago, much nostalgia!

I love the SpellForce 2 battle soundtrack in the background lol
Battlemasters is the best!
Man, I got this when I was a kid! soooo freaking much fun. I very much regret selling it before moving across the country. this one got a lot of love.
I still have mine, and extra bits. Used to be a great gaming con Sunday morning game. Battle tech was played with these rules.
you are quickly becoming my favourite channel.
7:46 i have them in mint pretty much from my uncle when he was little
I have this game . Love it . Had for years.
Did you think the two sides were balanced?
That's how I made my first Chaos WHFB army way back in the day...
Ya I got this!!!!
Play the game. it's a delight!
Had a lot of fun with this game back in the days. Would be cool if they did a remake for it, like they just did for hero’s quest.

Gotta love the “clearance phase” of a product’s life cycle.
Very cool to see this!
somebody opened that box and was like “nope”.
Awesome video! Keep it up please 😊😊
I doubt many dads would’ve stepped on the Chaos knights…they’d’ve been stopped by Lego caltrops long before they got to the mat.
😜
Epic game
Some local gamer adapted the heroquest magic rules to it.
It’s crazy that you could get 100 plastic minis back then. Now with GW you only get 15 minis for the extortionate price of 130 quid

nicely done! I just got my own set and did my own (less complete unboxing on my channel). cheers!
You know I have to find out one day, why in German this game was called "The Claymore Saga"
lol, 'used' copy.. proceeds to pull out models mint on sprue and unpunched game accessories - great find!😂
Yeah I guess there’s used, and then there’s USED.
😂 8:57 Are them Chaos Archers their balls hanging outside?
Prices of this game have inflated to unrealistic proportions since this video. Some boxes on eBay for $700.
I wish I had picked up a few copies when toy stores were selling them on clearance.
@@oldhammered Don't we all? :D Add Warhammer Quest to that list!
The good guys are all Empire. No Bretonians.

Awesome game... bouncing cannon balls lol
