The description mentioning military use is quite interesting. The design immediately reminded me of the Soviet navy-style microphones, although their are much thinner.
That's hilarious! I've never seen one of those in person, and I've been into CB since the 1970's. I'm currently using a Shure 450 desk mic with my Galaxy DX 95T, and it works *FAIR,* but I had to bump the gain up on the modulation, since it's non-amplified.😉
Remember that Mike :) even shown a 18 wheeler Tractor truck plus trailer drive on top Mike and trailer with 80.000 pounds weight still worked and pick up person voice too surprises me that happen back in 2005 !
Has a very similar feel to the Astatic D104 lollipop desk microphones. I wonder if it's possible to up/down buttons in it and upgrade the cord with additional wires.
Yikes…. The only thing it’s missing is the base with that rotary dial thing.

Not really an ugly microphone. That PTT switch is very similar to the D104 lollipop microphones. I love Astatic!

I remember seeing those in the catalogs years ago but I don't think I ever talked to anyone that was using one.
Used for cold weather wearing thick gloves
wow . i remember this mike. I want one. what do you think about the 878 astatic ?
I think a better name would be Butt Ugly Microphone.
This would be nice on a turner +3 desk stand for a base
I always wanted one of these
It's going to be Huge!😲Thanks for sharing! 🙂
wow.... now that's an oldie.....
The only mic you'll ever need for life! You could club someone with it even.
I had one called the Pink Panther in the early/mid 90's. It talked very well but i took alot of abuse from my buddies over it.
I used the Mobile D104 and the trucker version, the normal mobile D104 was pretty good with my Robyns.
I would love that mic … can I please bum-1 off you 😂😂😂 I bet it sounds mint 🎉
I think it’s kinda cool looking myself.
,,,,,oh yeah,,,,that's the mike that was the official favorite, of Esther, on Sanford and Son,,,,U.G.L.Y,,,,,,de NV1H,😎
Hey! And it's also a shaver ...
