I own the 2019 750.i put the slip on, on and got it dyno tuned. Left that cat on. Did the tune to get rid of the restrictions. This bike is kinda crazy because I ride kinda hard and technically I don't ever need to leave 3rd gear. I've only been in 6th for high speed runs. 1st gear can break every speed limit in FL.

    • @SALTxTHExWOUND
      @SALTxTHExWOUND  4 ปีที่แล้ว +13

Absolutely true, sometimes I’ll hop in 4th if I’m trying just cruising through the corners, 5th & 6th and only used on the highway, I believe it hits 86mph in 1st gear, this is why I can’t justify a 1000 😂

@@SALTxTHExWOUND I barely ever use 6th, lol. I find, at legal speeds, the intake "howl" is BAD in 6th. Reverberates in my helmet, and gets quite annoying, lol. If I'm in 6th, I'm in Mexico! 🤣🤣🤣

@Thgt Ggyh when I say ride hard. I'm talking about curvy roads and corners. I take pride in my work. In most tight curvy routes I use 2nd and 3rd. And high speed long corners I may use 4th and 5th. And high speed straight runs I use 6th. Yeah I plan on changing the gearing so I can get better use out of all the gears. But I'll also get a speedo healer. And I also get what you are saying where I need to be using all the gears more frequently.

I had the same bike for 3 years only 600 L5, and did a cat delete... With M4 slip-on my ears were ringing after 15 min, it was intense even with db-killer insert. I would say it was sounding perfect before the cat delete with the M4 slip-on, and that slip-on suit the bike very well! It was also very laggy after the cat delte, especially at the low RPM's, but it was pulling harder when I twisted the throttle. After few weeks, I took it to a local dealer (who tunes Suzuki and Honda for many years, also building track bikes for different riders) and had dyno + ECU flash and replaced M4 with Yoshimura R11. Bike gained more HP and was running so smooth after that. Yes, with the cat you will have plenty and enough of HP for the street. If you are riding more active on the track (like I do) then I would consider to remove it and have it tuned if you are chasing faster laps. Honest opinion!

People seem to be allergic to ECU flashes. Video after video after video after video people ask "does this exhaust mod need a ECU flash?" I guess it's some kind of badge of honor to modify the exhaust without any tuning. That, or people are cheap. People don't tune their ECU and that's the main problem.

I got to agree, you don't actually always need a cat delete as the bikes mostly are designed to run with this setup, i personally do need a cat delete on my R1 as the bike tends to run hot whenever the temperature rises north of 20°C( sorry, i don't know how much this is in fahrenheit), this and the fact that the runs lean from the factory make it "kinda" mandatory, else i will probably be overheating the engine one of these days...

Your absolutely right about the subject. Our modern sport bikes run lean from the factory. Euro 4,5. You start deleting cats your asking for a way too lean condition. I don't care about making more power myself. I'm more interested in a clean well running machine. I know you can put a ton of miles on these machines if there properly maintained. I have this 2018 gsxr 1000r. I was curious about a flash to richen it up some. I think your bikes fuel tables are much closer to a proper air fuel mixture. I actually might benefit from a ECU flash. I would certainly never ever delete the cat without that. In fact I won't get it flashed unless I decide to buy a full high quality yoshi, akrapovic or M4 system. Take care and safe summer

Agreed 100%. on my L6 GSXR 750, I have not even change the stock can. The exhaust is titanium, light and sounds pretty decent. The best mod is -1, +2 gearing which changes the torque curve and brings the power in at around 4000 km. Chasing 10 HP when most people can't use 130 HP on the streets just becomes a pissing competition. If you want reliability, keep it stock.

    Fact check : TRUE !
U should have a brand new bike Dyno-tuned also because every motorized product that comes out of a factory is tuned LEAN because of EPA Regulations for fuel mileage and pollution. U have more air than fuel flowing thru the motor when running lean and that's not good and will destroy your motor. Delete the cat and that also adds more air flow. Gas is oil and a lubricant also. So if want it to last a long time get it Dyno-tuned even with the cat still on your bike you won't regret it 🏍️

A lot of people on the k6 k7 and up 600 and 750 remove the cat,and replace it with short midpipe, and exhaust. Therefore they lost power somewhere compared to the stock map..If you delete the cat, your new exhaust must be so long, like the original gas route..then you dont loose power somewhere..you win ewerywhere..for example: the k7 750 have a very short catbox with a little exhaust tip in the end,but the gas route from enter to the exit, somewhere 105-110 cm..now you can understand why yoshi make this curve under the bike..

ah.. you got me thinking!..... definitely for 2 strokes running lean is a big issue. but 4 strokes in 3000-4000 rpm?! mmmm.. don't know! Usually heat is an issue in high RPMs. But even with a full exhaust, there is enough back pressure after 5-6K+ RPMs (too much gas to exit).
Also by leaving the oxygen sensor in, bike's ecu will do the adjustments (lean/rich) by readings from output gas. So...... not sure if lacking the power in mid-range is because of the mixture ratio. Must be less gas to compress (escape from the cylinder).

For instance, when I tune with HP Tuners, Chevrolet is notorious for doing that on their LS engines to manage tire spin, adding fuel down low is an effective way to simulate power adding and make the customer very happy. I would imagine if you put a wide band on your bike as it sits in that RPM range you will also be that lean. Thanks for pointing me in that direction tho.

When I had my L7 GSXR 750, I had a cat delete and Woolwich Racing ECU flash.

Depends on the model. No bike is equal. 2011 FZ1 I had, full exhaust, K&N, airbox mod, Ivan's Performance ECU flash and custom fuel mapping, and it picked up 21 horsepower, eliminated all torque dips, make the throttle so much more controllable, engine lost a lot of vibration, and all original fuel economy was retained.
Every bike will have different results because every bike is restricted for emissions and noise differently. These are NOT "power mods" they are restriction-eliminators.

So your reasons are warranty and "engine longevity". I'd suggest doing a tune once your warranty is up. You might think your engine is running "perfect" but it is most certainly NOT. These bikes come from the factory VERY restricted. Air/fuel is off, ignition timing is off and your secondary throttle blades are electronically controlled and are RESTRICTED. Getting a tune or an ECU flash from a reputable source is not going to cause you any damage, it will actually have better air/fuel ratio, so your logic is completely backwards. It blows my mind that you post TH-cam videos, own a motorcycle, and can't take the time to do simple research before telling people wrong facts.

I'd love to do it one day, but for now, I just can't justify it...I've got better things to spend $2000 on! And, like you, I don't "need" more power. 😅👌🏼

Ya man these modern cats are not like the ones from the 80s. You are probably sacrificing the back pressure when you remove them. Modern Engines should be left alone. I put a full system on my cruiser cause it's Carbureted, and with no Tac I need to hear it to not redline it on the highway. Of course I had to mod the carb to correct the mixture. Runs slightly rich which is better than lean for any of you that don't know.
