      Thanks for your video. Best for beginners yet. Question, you say make pilot holes larger for 2 doors to close without space in between. Are the pilot holes the same holes designed for the Rollers that's already pre-cut? Not clear on this point. Question are Rollers universal to hang on any track or proprietary to each company's track? I want to add another door is why. Question to cover the opening door space I would need the full door size or two half size doors with additional rollers to close yes or no? And thanks for your answers. Thumbs up to you.

    Something to add… my 5’ opening has a 2x6 header above it. All openings should have a header of some sort.

      John did this allow you to install the track without a backer board? How did you line up holes on track outside of opening? I am hoping to go without a backer board but hubby says wont work without. Thanks.

      @@Kerry6691
      My double header board is in the wall above the entry. I installed a 1x4 backer board on wall/header board so the barn doors will be properly spaced away from wall to slide without rubbing on the trim.

    • @johnwhite2634
      @johnwhite2634 ปีที่แล้ว

      However… if u don’t have trim then u may not need the backer-board unless you can’t get the bolts into the framing. The bolts that hold up your track need to be in the framing or the back-board which would be bolted in the framing (vertical 2x4’s on 16” center in wall).

    Question: Any way to have both doors open apart by pulling only one handle? Like is there a pulley system you're aware of to do this? I'm liking this split door for my bathroom but don't want it to be a burden having to use two hands to open both doors, especially considering it'll be used multiple times per day.
    Thanks!

    Hey! Super helpful video.
    I have a question. Are there always studs on the part above the door way? My stud finder can't find any studs.

    • @FullDadMode
      @FullDadMode  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There’s typically studs but if there isn’t or you can’t find them them, you can install the backer board into heavy duty drywall anchors.

    Any recommendations for type of door that is good at blocking noise? I mean, a regular traditional doors, works, fine, so I don't necessarily need to block more noise, but I am scared that there will be more noise that escapes the room.

    Question.... If I'm doing this downstairs, do you still put the guides on concrete and if so what's the best way of doing so

    • @FullDadMode
      @FullDadMode  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have two options:
      1) Use hammer drill to drill guide into concrete
      2) Mount guide to baseboard or wall. I’m going to try one of these…www.homedepot.com/p/WINSOON-4-8-in-Sliding-Barn-Door-Floor-Guide-8-in-1-Adjustable-Floor-Guide-for-Bottom-Roller-and-Wall-Mount-System-2-Pack-GCM5155x2/315203132?MERCH=REC-_-pip_sem_mobile-_-315202990-_-315203132-_-N&

    Hi I’m wondering how I can keep both doors from sliding to one side! We have the barn doors to our bedroom and would like to figure out a way to have actual privacy. When they are covering the door entry my kids are able to slide it to the other side and walk in to the room!

    • @FullDadMode
      @FullDadMode  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jessica - the kit should come with door stoppers that go in the middle of the rail to prevent doors going to same side. In the top middle of this linked image you can see what these look like. Also, make sure rail is level which helps keep doors from moving on their own. www.homedepot.com/p/Boyel-Living-10-ft-120-in-Black-Steel-Straight-Strap-Sliding-Barn-Door-Track-and-Hardware-Kit-for-Double-Doors-with-Floor-Guide-X002AFTOBF-LTC/312383083

    Will an inspector question the quantity of electrical outlets if they are located behind the doors? Will final electrical inspection fail if the doors covers an outlet? Has anyone been asked to move or add an outlet?

    hey, what length is your track? im assuming the doors are 4x8'?

    • @FullDadMode
      @FullDadMode  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Opening is just under 4’x7’ and each door’s track is 72” - hope that helps! Thankfully I had enough space on each side of opening to accommodate the long tracks. Good luck!

    Is 7 feet wide walk-in pantry enough to have two barn doors? Thank you!

    • @FullDadMode
      @FullDadMode  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi - I this so but you’ll want to check the door specs and your space on either side. My opening is 5ft and the track is 12ft, so an extra 3.5ft on either side of opening. For 7ft you’ll probably have a 14ft track. Make sure you have the space for that is the biggest consideration. If not, and you have more space on one end, you could look for a double door opens to one end and overlaps when open. Hope this helps! Good luck.

    do any tracks align with studs?

    • @FullDadMode
      @FullDadMode  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine didn’t due to my opening placement. The spacing between bolts can align to studs, just depends on where your opening is relative to studs.

    I have trim on the whole outside of My Closet should I take it all off before Barn Door install or just adding a 2in backer board be enough??????

    • @FullDadMode
      @FullDadMode  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would take the trim off, it would likely drag against the trim. It’s easy to remove trim with a pry bar, fill the nail holes, then finish with touch up paint. You could also try it with the trim on and if it doesn’t work remove after install since you can simply take the door off the track to remove trim.
