    Sliding barn doors add great character to any room, and when you have the space, they do wonders to accentuate a bedroom closet. I recently replaced the closet doors in my daughter's bedroom with these closet doors made form cheap pine lumber, plywood and hardware purchased on Amazon. If you'd like to add a dramatic look to a room with a rather simple woodworking project, take a look at the build video below - step-by-step instructions are on Gadgets and Grain: bit.ly/3467gQ8

    I would do that groove at the bottom of the door on the tabe saw as you did for the plywood panel. I would cut the groove out on the precut frame (lower piece) prior to assembling the door.

    Cut that groove with the table saw before assembly, or cut the groove with a small trim router and a guide if already assembled.

    Great work. Groove in bottom... Measure out pre assembly cut into pre install. Attache to door frame with groove already made. Circel saw or router. Also wet paper towels under all drilling collects dust.

      For sure danger! Always better to work on a smaller more manageable piece at grade level than risk adjustments with heavy ones while elevated. All considered... Well executed! As for the end blooper... Danger!!! Lucky no fall on little one. Always secure while staging. Literally anything can happen. Wind. Kid. Dog. Ground hog avoiding bird of prey lol... Anything

    Your door turned out great! My wife wants me to build a Barn door between my bedroom and Master Bath. This will be my first time building one. I been watching so many videos trying to decide the best but easy way to make one. I do like the fact that your door has the two frames on both side. How thick did your door turned out to be?

    Hi nice video. Can you advise if the new Trim can be flush mounted to the jamb?
    Or is it better to have a few mm offset reveal.
    Why isn’t it normally ever done flush?
    Is it so there’s a recess for the gap filler?

    Hello. I thoroughly enjoyed your tutorial. My question to you is in your opinion do you think I could use the current sliding closet doors for a sliding barn door? The are those orange brownish hollow doors. Or, do you think I should use the doors as French doors, instead? I’m trying to keep costs down and use what I have. Thank you.

    GREAT VIDEO, DEMO AND SIMPLE BUT VITAL EXPLANATION. THANK YOU VERY MUCH !!!!!! QUESTION......DEPENDING ON WHAT SPACING IS REQUIRED ON THE TOP WHEN INSTALLING THE RAIL. LETS SAY IT CAN BE BETWEEN 1 3/8 -1 3/4 BUT THE THICKNESS OF THE DOOR IS ONLY 1 1/4 ....CAN YOU JUST RUN A BOARD ON THE TOP (BACKSIDE) WITH A THICKNESS THAT WOULD FALL IN THE REQUIRED RANGE. ??? I have not been able to source 2x6's that I can rip to 2 x 5's that don't have knots in them. I want a smooth surface when finished to match cabinets. I did find treated desk planks that didn't have knots in them. Do you think this would work? Anyone see any reason with using treated lumber? I plan on sanding, priming, and paining. I did notice that the lumber used in the video had knots, but after sanding they didn't seem to show.

    • @captaincane64
      @captaincane64 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Randy Wallace if you fill the knots and sand it smooth the knots will disappear. If you don’t fill the knots there is potential for bleed through if you plan on painting.
