    @the GRAVYTRAIN, I am planning to replace the speakers on my Honda Accord 2018 EX-L too. Could you please tell which speakers have you used for the Center Dash Console and did you replace the rear deck woofer with the Kicker one that you have shown in the Video? If possible can you post the links for the speakers please. Thank you

      These are the speakers I used for the doors and the rear deck - includes woofers and tweeters: www.crutchfield.com/p_091ISS165/Focal-Integration-ISS-165.html . As far as the center dash, I initially installed a Kicker speaker, but I recently removed the Kicker and replaced it with an Infinity Kappa 300 and like the sound much better:

      No drilling - it was a direct fit. For my speakers to fit in the bracket however there were 4 "tabs" that I had to break off. They were easy to break off.

    Is it worth it to just do the two front door speakers? First time doing an install and that rear deck is intimidating.

    • @thegravytrain1129
      @thegravytrain1129  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I thought doing the doors made a significant difference, but adding the rear obviously did much more. I've had cars where I only did the front doors, and it's enough to get by, but you don't get the full sound you do when you replace all of them. I guess it's really up to you and what you're looking for sound wise. Definitely won't hurt to do the doors.

    • @thegravytrain1129
      @thegravytrain1129  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question. It's pretty standard for car amps and heads to be 4 ohm so honestly I didn't give it much thought - probably should have. I definitely paid attention for the amp/sub install. It seems to have worked out fine.

  • @socksamazingchannel

    the original wires from the oem speaker did you break that off or cut it, or does it unplug?

    • @thegravytrain1129
      @thegravytrain1129  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It unplugs. You can get an adapter that will allow you to attach the aftermarket speakers. I dont know what I was thinking, but I cut one of the wires - that's a huge no no that I did without thinking. Don't ever cut wires! There's almost always a way to wire car stereos without cutting wires.

    Hey man, thanks, for the video. i am doing the same setup after watching your video. I had a question, did you use the crossovers that came with the package?

    • @thegravytrain1129
      @thegravytrain1129  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad you liked it! Although Crutchfield said it would probably be okay to go without the crossovers on the woofers, I used them for the tweeters and woofers. I would absolutely recommend using them for the tweeters so you don't blow them out. I'm personally very happy with the sound, but Ive been talking with another individual who installed the same speakers and didn't like the woofer sound of rock music with the crossover installed - he's going to try installing without the crossover to see if he likes the sound better but I havent heard how it turned out yet. I did notice that it took a few weeks for these particular speakers to break in - they sounded great with pop and rap from the beginning, but it took a week or two before they sounded good with rock & country.

      Do you have the EXL accord? The EXL and touring model come with a 450 watt amp while other versions come with a much smaller amp. If you have a different model you'd probably want to consider an amp as well.

    • @thegravytrain1129
      @thegravytrain1129  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It definitely helped, but wasn't amazing. These are high quality speakers, so it was much better than stock, but I'm actually in the process of adding an amp for my door and rear deck speakers because the factory amp isn't nearly big enough. The factory amp only puts out about 30 watts RMS to each speaker, which is well below the 70 these are rated for, so consequently you don't get the full effect. I'm also adding noise damping to the inside of the doors and and second skin speaker tweakers www.secondskinaudio.com/accessories/speaker-tweakers
      all in an effort to bring out the mid bass more. I'll probably add a digital signal processor in the future as well.

      @thegravytrain1129  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe I did. The connectors for the tweeters didn't help at all so I had to use electrical connectors for those. The connectors for the woofers worked fine. The plastic speaker mounts have to be slightly modified as well - there are plastic tabs that you have to bend off in order for the woofers to fit, and the screws that come with the speaker mounts are too long. You'll have to get shorter screws or they'll poke into the woofers.
      Also, I would personally recommend skipping the crossovers for the woofers - sounds much better without them and my speakers have been fine. I didn't dare use the tweeters without the crossovers though.

  • @Cativa0
    @Cativa0 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The way you went about the battery is not recommended, the proper way is by removing the negative pole and by removing the negative battery cable you are disconnecting the battery from the chassis of your vehicle. If you begin to remove the positive side before the negative and your wrench would make contact with any part of the vehicle, then you could cause a short in the system.
