While both Darrens looked alike,York was may more expressive than Sargent.Their acting styles were so different that I recognized the change right away.
Yeah even as a young Kid I noticed but what I learned much later I never noticed ,rather recently as AMoF, that ALL the Witchs' names ended in "A"!🤔😲. 🤓😎✌🏼☮️
How about the last episode of Perry Mason? In that one the storyline took place in a movie studio where the "extras" were all the folks who actually worked behind the scenes on the show. It was a nice way to say thanks to them.
I remember the show mostly from morning reruns. It was a fun show. Mr. Tate and his wife sure seemed to visit the Stephens' house a lot. Nowadays many bosses probably don't know their employees' families. Like many sitcoms, it probably stayed around too long. We can't entirely blame switching husbands. Several early episodes got remade. Yes, I did notice the switch. Times were changing. If the show had lasted a few more years, maybe Samantha would have reentered the workforce. Final episodes were still rare back then. One might have had her parents finally accepting her mortal husband. After all, he was a good provider and father too.
I noticed the Darrin switch immediately. And I was OK with it. I never liked Dick York in that part. He was a great actor but he just came off as too angry. Dick Sargent was a better match for Elizabeth Montgomery.
All I KNOW is Derwood II had to be involved. Derwood I was more excitable and therefore My favorite. Figures by then it had to a reused plot. The Show was at least influenced by the Kim Novak/Jimmy Stewart/Jack Lemon/Ernie Kovaks movie, "Bell Book and Candle" and this episode probably influenced the Jim Carey movie, "Liar Liar" and the 3s Co. Episode where Jack swore to only tell the truth after called an "Awful Liar" where Cindy rose to His defence as being "The BEST darn liar She ever MET! (Jack triple take!) 😮😮😮. 😅🤓😎✌🏼☮️
There absolute was nothing of the Darrens that looked alike. You must have known very little of the show. the show was totally boring the last few years from the writers. I thought that it was rediculos after many years to think it was the same man. The second Darren couldnt act out of a paper bag. The first Darrenlooked like a walking dead man on cigarettes.
did you notice how much drinking went on in that show. "I'll have a double, make that a triple"
I did not remember what happened but I do remember how Elizabeth Montgomery looked by then. Loved the show growing up.
Interesting video. I liked Bewitched. Cast was great. Appreciate all you do Melanie

I never noticed the switch until years afterwards when I read it somewhere.

WHAT, they switched actors!
I don’t remember the last Episode. 🤷🏻♀️
Dick Sargent replaced Dick York as Darrin Stephens after season five due to the latter's being unable to go on due to his debilitating back injury.
👍👍♥️
How could you not notice? I was a little kid, and I noticed right away. Dick York was a much better Darrin.

The 2nd Darren was terrible. Dick York owned that character. Paul Lynde as "Uncle Arthur" was hilarious !!
