My issue is that in modern survivor these "hacks" seem to be discouraged and the challenges seem to be much more restrictive with what you can do. Nowadays you usually just get different variations of obstacle courses with a puzzle at the end. Loved some of these challenges where unique skills could shine or where you can employ different strategies.
Exactly! I went back and watched Survivor: China after finishing watching the modern seasons (I had skipped it for some reason), and I remember the challenges GREW in quality from modern to old school Survivor. Funny how that works.
They’ll be discourage to create more, I guess you can call it drama and suspense.
Isn't the whole point in survival to BE clever and intuitive?! So finding clever tricks is really the whole point right?
I would suggest Taskmaster if you're in it for the hacks. It's gotten to the point where they'll build alternate strategies into the challenges (for example, a challenge to paint a rainbow in a dark room, but they made the light switch glow in the dark and only said you couldn't open the door)
@@topogigio7031 bro I bet this dude thinks MATCH 3 is “interesting”
"What happened?"
"We lost bro. What do you mean what happened?"
Lmao that was such a mood 😂
They should have a season where they bring in some people that were the first person voted off. it would be interesting bc its people that played a little but they all have no idea what their strats are.
Poor Francesca
@@erakfishfishfish *Fransesqua
It would suck to be voted out first twice though.
@@topogigio7031 to be fair to them, reality tv shows are edited after the fact to justify the already played out events, so a first-out is more likely to receive a less ideal edit, regardless of their true character. I wouldn’t be surprised if most of the first outs were “assholes” because they left early, not the other way around.
Always found it odd that producers discourage being outsmarted on a game entirely based around outwit, outplay, outlast. People who hack the challenges are just outwitting, embracing the nature of the game.
I think it’s more so that when people the seasons after come and compete, they dont just copy the strategy that worked. So that everyone has a chance and it’s fair.
Survivor Producers: out wit, out play, out last
Survivor competitors: out wit, out play, and out last the producers
Survivor Producers: no not like that
I could watch hours of Ozzie doing challenges. Hours.
he has an only fans now I'm pretty sure you can pay to have him do any challenge you want
LITERALLY HE IS BOMB AT EVERY SINGLE CHALLENGE...HES INCREDIBLE.
@@zarmug0 ARE YOU FOR REAL- LIKE ACTUALLY I- 😭🤚🏾
@@zarmug0 OZZY HAS AN ONLY FANS? wait-
Ozzy is literally the survivor challenge king
Im really dissapointed with the hate Shirin gets for that move- She was genuinely trying to get everyone love and being nice. Its not like she knew she would end the survivor auction😭
There was no selfless intent behind Shirin's actions at the auction -- she was just being an obnoxious know-it-all.
Can you explain why they gave it back
@@owl4327 Here’s a reply in another comment that explained it!
“by not buying it, he now had the most money left which means he could outbid anyone on an advantage.
Mama C returning her letter without
reading it would mean she would now be able to match his bid.”
[TL;DR: She and the guy were now leading with more money than anyone from doing so.]
@@opo3628 Eh, two things can both be true. You can both be nice and be trying to win in the same move and be trying to one up everyone.
@@opo3628 nope
Boston Robs idea in all-stars in the sunken boat challenge where he had his team haul up the entire boat onto the pontoon before flipping it should be on here. While every team was bailing water furiously with buckets to make it seaworthy, Chapera emptied their entire boat in one flip and zoomed from last to first for a comfortable win. I really like it because he clearly knew what he was doing and it was, like Ozzy's coconuts, an on the spot innovation when the challenge was presented (i.e. he didn't stumble onto it like Yul's scope, it wasn't a product of trail and error like the balance beam crouch nor relied on knowledge on previous shows like the Vacepia quiz or the auction.) This, for me, takes it to a higher tier.
I really think what Rob instructed his team to do was what producers thought they ALL would do lol. I never understood why the other teams didn't follow after that. Why continue to bail water when you just witnessed the correct way, and even if you lose time, it won't be as much time as bailing a gallon at a time while taking on water rapidly
I hate the fact that the producers have never followed Australian Survivor's tactics of having advantages or letters from home as covered items. That would immediately prevent any player from "hacking" the challenge and creates a lot more intensity in someone bidding all $500 on a covered item. The auction has already been the most requested challenge to have back on the show, so with that as a clear solution to their problem, what's been stopping them?
Totally agree. I actually enjoy Australian survivor auction more. With hidden items like “you just bought yourself out of the auction but you’ll receive every item” “yeaaaa boi!!!”
@@freddytang2128 I love fun reward items like that to be covered.
But I would hate to see random luck determine who gets a game-changing advantage. I hate it when they stuff advantages randomly in one person’s napkin in a reward or like in Cambodia when they snuck an idol clue inside one bag in a challenge. I think lessening the role of luck is why US Survivor doesn’t want to put advantages as covered items in the auction. I’d rather they just get rid of advantages in the auction and announce it beforehand. Otherwise, it’s nice seeing players like Tony and Spencer and Mike and the like go all in on their game and sacrifice it all for that and not simply rely on luck to get them further ahead.
The auction really needs to make a comeback. Casual viewers dig it and they're the highest viewed challenges on YT. Your solution sounds solid enough to pull off. Either cover advantages or maybe have no advantages at all in the auction.
@@mrjollyguy25 it would definitely be announced beforehand that covered items possibly have an advantage in them, so there’s still some intuition and skill the player has to use before bidding like seeing who else could be bidding on the item (someone from their alliance or the one they want out of the game?). The covered items could literally be anything from an advantage, to just food or even a surprise letter from home. There’s a lot more possibilities that still have yet to make happen in the auctions and US Survivor has done A LOT less compared to other countries out there. The point being the auction can be hack-proof and can still be skillful to the players depending on their strategy and willing to gamble. The demand is high and there’s more than enough ways to supply it without having it be broken by super fan players.
@@mrjollyguy25 idk. For me, Survivor is a game of tactics and being aware--- making decisive moves. Dumb luck is boring and often impedes the game, leading to undesirable outcomes.

As a lazy and exhausted person, the mogo mogo tribe is my hero😂
This has a special place in my heart, part 1 showed up randomly in my recommendations and was the first time I ever heard of survivor (I’m not from the US) Now I’ve seen all seasons and I’m basically an expert and follow multiple survivor channels.
Similar story: my first recommended video was the one about the 5 greatest hidden immunity locations. I was hooked and continued to binge peridiam videos and I’ve watched most of the show at this point. That video will always have a special place in my heart... still waiting for a part 2
O saw a random video of Parvati and then fell into the rabbit hole of survivor, since it is is banned from my country I watch clips, podcasts and read videos.
@@ziyle5238 you should check out survivor geek and all his content =D
@@MsPandachen I have found his channel already, let me just say even though there is no chance I can go on Survivor I have been practicing on his puzzle app ahah
Where did you watch the seasons?
Vacepia's hack is like why TAR had to stop doing that final road block where they remember all the other road blocks. Everyone got too prepared for it. I miss that challenge though. I find all TAR finales since it got scrapped have been too easy
I noticed it too. During that final TAR challenge some people make comments like “(my partner) has been taking notes and studying where we’ve been and what we’ve done”
They still do memory tasks, as recently as the most recent season. The difference now is that the producers confiscate all race materials after each leg including clues and they check the bags of the racers for any notes they might have taken Vecepia-style during the race.
I think the song one was alright and would have been better without the alliance of three working together for it. I liked the time when they had to remember all their greeters from the finish mats. I just think the road block memory was the best version of this (maybe I’m biased cause this is the version I watched when I was a kid)
@@Phyrre56 the dumbest one was the season with Natalie and Nadiya and the gay couple winners, where they were asked how do you speak hello and goodbye in eight local languages. Chinese French and Spanish were easy enough, but the remaining ones just became a game of “who can guess the fastest”
They still do the final memory task with the most recent one being TAR 30. They just had to get more creative.
what about in all stars when rob has everybody jump off the balance beam so he could run and get the flag every time?
Hmmmm... Maybe I should do a Part 3...
@@Peridiam not even a question, i’ll be disappointed if you don’t
It was actually Sue's idea to have everybody jump off for Rob
@@amillionresets3263 good catch, been a minute since i’ve watched
I guess it’s not well remembered because it didn’t change anything. chapera was going to win anyways
I love James
"If I came up with the word, come on"
Loveable player, a fan favorite, and knowns he is not the brightest.
Didn’t Michele Fitzgerald remember a number combinations in Koah Rong by grabbing sand putting it on the wood and writing it down? That was pretty good too!
Yes
The next video lol
I remember that auction moment ruining Mama C for me. When I clocked what was happening I was so excited I thought it was a great and legitimate move, I hate that she was allowed to return the thing she already bought, you were outplayed they all were, even Jeff bought it initially.
Wait can you explain that a bit more? I didn’t get the problem with the guy returning hi (prob cause I don’t know the show enough) but why were they so shocked that he didn’t wanna buy the note from home? And what was also wrong with what she did in returning it?
@@PabloTh3Ninja33 by not buying it, he now had the most money left which means he could outbid anyone on an advantage. Mama C returning her letter without reading it would mean she would now be able to match his bid. I’m guessing the producers didn’t anticipate someone returning their auction item, so they didn’t have a set rule for it. I wouldn’t be surprised if they had some of the show’s lawyers discuss whether or not show would be allowed to return it before they completed the challenge.
@@erakfishfishfish they shouldn't have let her return it at all, once jeff slams the gavel all sales final, no returns no exchanges, like imagine if you found out something covered was gross or not appetizing, you could just return it and not be penalized. Even if it's uncovered, imagine returning in items because the next item was better
@@isiahduran2041 no disagreement there! My guess is the producers allowed it because they thought it would make a more interesting storyline.
They actually didn’t let her return it. Dan said in a Survivor Oz tell all that Jeff said “no refunds”, and Carolyn argued for a while before Mike caved.
'if i come up with the puzzle... come on yall' James is so funny lmao
“It came down to laziness and pure exhaustion that designed that raft,” he says with a huge proud smile on his face.
karl jacobs just mentioned you in his alt stream and i screamed because i love your videos so much. you are both killing it
"You know, basic facts about who they are as a person." That line makes me smile.
colby looked so proud when he was talking about the raftt
I don't remember what season it was, but there was a season where they did a variation of the "float your boat" challenge (boat is submerged and full of rocks) and when it first aired, I remember thinking "why don't you just flip the boat underwater?" And as soon as I thought that, somebody on one tribe suggested it and it worked A LOT faster. I've tried looking it up, but no luck.
Marquesas and All-Stars!
@@Peridiam Did they flip the boat in both seasons? I don't think it was possible in All-Stars cause they swapped the coconuts for boxes that totalled like 2000 pounds.
Yeah, they flipped it in both seasons. First Rotu, then Chapera.
I just wrote about this in another post before I saw this. In all-stars, technically they didn't flip it underwater, BRob had them pull the boat clear of the waterline onto the pontoon before flipping it over and ensured that boat was completely dry as a result.
With the beam challenge. It’s a very common team building exercise with only one real way to accomplish. I run a team building camp for all ages, with the exceptions of the little ones, every one gets it after a couple tries... so I’d say the beam challenge didn’t get broken instead it got solved
Jenn Brown with the real challenge hack: buying the margarita.
Go dogs!
Shonee did the same in Australian Survivor buying a jar full of candy
of course it's Shonee so there HAD to be a hidden advantage inside ;))
That's a great hack: Let Ozzy do all the work.
We respect your "lies" because it's like someone saying they'll give you something for free but end up giving lots of stuff for free XD Don't apologize for giving us more content :)
Video idea:
Players who thought they hacked the challenge, but were totally wrong!
I think even Jeff was surprised when Mike didn't buy his letter. He was like "holy shit, that's heartless" in his face.
ah dolphin boy, i miss ozzy from the early seasons
The last one reminds me of a time in middle school when each person in my class had to create a type of container to protect an egg that we dropped from the top of the school onto concrete and I forgot to make one so on the day of the project I took a tissue box, took out enough tissues so that the egg could fit inside with no room to move, and I could literally throw it off the building and the egg was unharmed. Needless to say my teacher was annoyed that I didn’t try like everyone else yet had to give me a passing grade cuz that shit was indestructible 😂
haha work smarter not harder
I’m not one of your patrons, but I think an interesting analysis video would be how many times the fifth wheel strategy has worked toward a victory. Being the player that goes back and forth between two factions. When Cass did it, Spencer famously said “Cass’s chances of winning drop down to zero” and she responded “We’ll see” but I think he was right because I don’t think it’s ever worked. I think both factions usually just get sick of the person and get rid of them before the end.
Yau Man is the King of hacks, folks. He won the wooden maze race by mathematically, using his hand, to trace the exit. After that mistake from Survivor, Survivor announced each wooden maze would now have sections you could only choose randomly how to navigate. (Holes in the maze). Required to choose a way to go. He was also the FIRST person to MAKE a fake immunity idol. Why does everyone forget Yau Man??? Finally, he was the first one to use a pair of someone's glasses to start a fire. New rule! - no glasses for fire starting. His only mistake was giving HIS winning truck to Dreamz if Dreamz promised not voting Yau Man... Dreamz agreed, TOOK the great new prized truck, AND voted Yau Man out any way!! Traitor of the highest degree. From that episode, Survivor immediately ended giving out a car at the designated challenge, as tradition had it. Yau Man was a professor at the University of Berkeley, and....he was asked to be on the show - HE DIDN'T HAVE TO TRY OUT to be a contestant. WOW. Let's talk about Yau Man! He's a nice guy.
Loved this video! When you mentioned this was a part 2 I almost came!!!!! LOL, so happy there’s another video like this and it was recommended! Love that your video was entertaining yet simple. Very cohesive and awesome editing, keep it up!
Last time I was this early, Wanda was still singing as she left the island
Oh man, Wanda hahaha
Holy heck!

You could do a list, where "hacks" go wrong.
13:24 "Ultimately, it came down to laziness and pure EXHAUSTION that designed that"
Relatable. 👍😎👍
Hack videos are literally my favourite - top strategies with a little bit of humour. Stunning
Love the Vecepia love! She deserved to be on WAW!
I vaguely remember Scout intentionally dumping a coconut shell full of coconut juice so someone more agile could run the course without spilling it. Anyone else remember or am I just high?
favorite video finally has a part 2!!!
Enjoy!
Just susubscribed! I've seen a few of your vids and this series is definitely one your best!
Not sure if this counts but our favorite baseball who also was dating Coach, Albert in South Pacific, sort of hacked but sort of cheated a challenge. In the Jack and Jill aka Twins themed immunity challenge, the crucial one right before the merge, there was a point where both tribes were retrieving their last bag from the water. The bags were tied to these floating beams and Albert was losing time untying the bag. So in a rushed panic state, he just tears the bag off the beam, from a distance it looks like he’s untied it but the knots are still there. This seems small and insignificant until you realize this crucial immunity challenge, right before the merge, was won within seconds of either tribe winning.
I wish you included the Distress Signal competition from Africa where they dipped the nets in paint to make it stand out more.
Your channel is goated. Without any doubts. 💯🐐
Omg!!! Been waiting for a part 2!!! ❤️❤️❤️
"Super fans they always think they know it all". I'm take this as a call out to me ;p (I know it probs not but let me have my moment)
😁
Hahah
Can’t stop laughing at the mogo mogo raft challenge 🤣
If I remember correctly, Malcolm later attempted to use the same strategy that Ozzy/Penner used when he was on Caramoan, but I don’t think he was successful in his attempt. It was a nice callback to that exact challenge
I love the competition hacks videos but honestly it's been almost a so long without a season of Survivor and who knows how long until we get another I'll watch anything you make a video on. Why does CBS think they need to go to South Asia to do the show, they do know they could film in Hawaii, or Louisiana, or the Florida Keys don't they?
Maybe they secretly are right now! I would honestly love that.
*>"it's been almost a so long without a season of Survivor"*
I think they get better tax cuts to film in the south pacific, with cheap local labour and amenities included. Doing it in the US would mean spending american dollars, and the budget can suddenly cover a lot less than it used to. At least that's why they film most of them in Fiji, I think.
Gosh, I love this show. Thankful for all it gave me. Relationships. Stories. Even (eventually) letters from home.
fyi penner didn’t actually come up with this hack. it was carter :) (he tweeted about it at the time and i remember seeing it bc i was so impressed!!)
i love these videos! i miss survivor so much!
I love these videos!! Please do more for big brother too!
I believe there was one early in Nicaragua where the producers thought they should zig-zag gutters and the contestants just made slides.
Omg when Malcom was in this vid I got so excited 😂
Man I miss Survivor :(
There’s a new season coming this fall, Jeff confirmed it! :)

Can you do a tier list of either survivor or big brother seasons and players/winners?
I really wish Jeff would have said No Refunds to Carolyn
Eh, I think Jeff doesn't want to be the reason why someone does or does not get something. It's all in the players' hands.
You should have added Kenny in Gabon who won the domino challenge by beginning to the end, to disturb the least possible his domino while walking
I hate this show but I will watch the hell out of these videos keep up the good work. (I know this is an older one but I just saw part 7 and going back to rewatch these and maybe the big brother ones.
Rocky got so screwed with the haves/have-nots. He needs to come back.
Mike DID end up buying the letter and then losing the rock draw. Gotta include that part!
In that final auction I think if Jeff had been a bit more flexible regarding the bidding he could have one upped the players by bidding on the letters himself.
That'd be hilarious
I really enjoy videos like this! Huge Survivor fan I it is incredible when you see some players think outside the box! I always thought that what Ozzy and Penner did was pure genius!
I love these videos!
God, I miss James. What a hilarious man.
Hello, I was wondering if you could do a video all about introducing new viewers to Survivor and what sets it apart from other reality shows. Thanks!
I love those videos!!
I would personally add Rafe, Danni and Steph. To this day I don't believe the Guatemala FIC was properly tested beforehand.
I feel Guatemala Survivor is overlooked, contestants had a really tough time.
sorry what is FIC? I saw guatemala but I don't know what this refers too...so many survivor acronyms !

I see like the show you stopped at the advert, the auction killed did by it, but it took one or two to start putting theirs back to get him to do it.
Thanks for posting the video.
can you make a video analyzing every final 6 because there always seems to be some sort of big move happening at that moment in the game
You should do a video talking about the statistics of whether or not the person who wins Final Immunity/HOH wins the game.
Video idea: every challenge on survivor that didn't use balls
I'm kinda lost at what mark did or what he didn't that made Jeff go "wow" and make the other lady return her letter and kinda screw them up
so, the players plan was that everyone buy their letter so that they all spent the same amount of money (20$). One player didn't, which means if an advantage did go on auction later, he would have more money than any other player (exactly 20$ more), thus he could easily outbid everyone for the advantage/immunity/clue whatever.

Hey peridiam , after watching season 27 BvsW se how players mistreated Mónica until She broke down, other example is Sierra in Tocantis, or Sophie in South Pacific, I think is good material for a Video
Can anyone explain what happened in 8:27 to me? I don’t watch the show. Why didn’t mike “do it?” Does that mean he didn’t buy his letter from home? Why?
Sorry if the answer is obvious, I’m trying to figure it out
Mike was going to go back on his word to buy his letter so he could keep his cash to buy an advantage. Everyone else got mad at him for lying to them and Mike decided to give in and buy his letter after all.
@@Peridiam does it mean if Mike went back on his word that they would all have to give their letters back? Or he would just have an unfair/strategic advantage while everyone was enjoying their letters from home? Thanks for your answer ☺️
not Jeff coming @ the raft HAHAHAHHA
I have a question for you...
Do you like the more recent trend of whispered conversations during jury meetings?
Honestly I find them dumb and I'm pretty sure they just do it for T.V. sake.
I think it’s more interesting than everyone knowing how they’re going to vote going in.
Last time i was this early was never
Jeff dropped the ball on the mike play. If Jeff didn’t say anything he might have gotten off with it
Do the producers still allow players to take items from home with them to the island or did they stop doing that?
Sort of, if I remember correctly. They can’t take it to the island, but it’ll be waiting for them at Ponderosa if they get voted out.
This was amazing😮
Love Ozzie. A lot of heart
The balls in the corner is a classic strategy from Big Brother challenges as well
A way to counter the letters from home bid is for the producers to have each letter increase exponentially by some on the spot factor ie letter 1 is 20, 2 is 30, 3 is 45
