    You went all out with all the dribblers. I can make #8 and #7 1/2, with mine, sure is nice not having to be in the clutches of the companies that makes shot anymore. The material must be clean and again you have to watch your heat, My magma machine has heat control and can be adjusted to stop dimpling and tail forming on the shot. Your machine will pay for itself in short order as I have with mine. I have been using antifreeze for my coolant, However, the fabric softener works as well. I have found that my coolant never gets close to over 100 deg and I bypassed using a circlet pump. So now you are on your way. Good video Dave.

      So far I am happy. I purchased it on ebay and I sent the man I got it from a message asking to buy a new dripper, I told him it was my fault. He just asked which one I needed and said he would mail me out out the next day. I can not ask for better than that. I have is sifter coming, next thing is to make a tumbler so I can coat them. The guy at the hardware thinks Im crazy with all the insane projects I am always doing. I think you are correct with the heat being a problem not being adjustable. I may have to build a controller like the ones I have seen people use on their casting pots.

      I see that a lot on shotmaker videos, either too hot or too cold. I believe that it depends on the material you are using, unlike a casting pot where the access is large enough to let the fluid metal-free flow, these have small openings that are meant to use surface tension to form the casted shot. I believe that it is a balance of heat and time of the rhythm of the tippets. (If that makes any sense) That's why you need to tap on the melter because the surface tension is too great to flow and the rhythm slows down. Anyway, It's fun using it and figuring it all out. I also believe that with use you will get to know the machine inside and out, Btw, Did you order it in 110 volts or 220 volts? I was going to get it in 220 V, however, I didn't have an outlet that would be handy outside. I guess it depends on how much you use it to save any electrical savings. Dave.

      Thor's Axe I ordered the 110 volt version. I did not want to run a 220 for it. I have a 220 in the barn I use for my RF Amplifier but running that heavy wire and giant plugs is a pain in the butt. I will not be using it that much. I think I have had it on for under 4 hours and I am almost to my 200 lbs of shot made so far.

    Nice to have a bunch of different sizes by accident. I was hoping to get one of these so that I could make a range of shot from 9 to say 4 buck. Makes it a hell of a lot easier to use when there's multiple shot sizes

    I am going to make my own pot, we will see how that goes. If you would be so kind as to measure from the center of the nozzle to the top of the deflector plate and also the depth of the deflector ramp? I would really appreciate it.

    Hello;
    I have a question in this area and I hope you help me to obtain a positive and applicable outcome. In order to supply the existing coolant fluid (blue solution), i need information about the composition ratio of water and fabric softener or anything used in this composition in a cubic meter of volume. Please reply as soon as possible.
    Thank you very much for your guide.

      I do not have any exact measurements, what I did was fill the ammo can (50 cal) with the fabric softener and then add about a gallon of water and that ran over to create a small amount in the catch pan for the pumps to pull from. I made sure the pumps were under the fluid so they did not loose their prime. It was about a jug and a half of fabric softener, I will go look and read the size of the jugs, be right back. the fabric softener jugs are 125 ounces you will need to convert to metric. I do not believe its critical, what I was doing was trying to thin it out just a little to help the pumps work better. The pure fabric softener was so thick that the pumps were not moving very much at all and the moving provides some cooling. Next year when I do it again I am going to buy some of the sealed cooler things made to keep stuff cold when you are camping (cheep here a buck or 2) and freeze them, then put them in the tank with the pumps to help even more in the cooling process. Running the large batch (just under 100lbs) it did start to get a little hot and I paused for almost a hour to eat and walk the puppy.
      If you are just starting out, do not give up it took me 3 times to get my process worked out so I could get nice shot but its worth the effort. I do have to buy my lead and alloy but it still is saving me 50% so instead of paying 50$ for a 25lb bag of shot I have 25$ into it and I am always looking for cheap lead.

      Its funny one person gets out one gets in to the hobby. This machine will do them all. You just need different pieces that screw into it (drippers I think they are called) and they determine what size shot you end up with. I just sent an email to our local club wanting to find a new guy to give all my shotgun stuff to. My Son died on June 9th and he was the shot guy lover, I loaded for him. I have presses and primers and stuff for shotgun that I will never load again.

      @@barndweller4573 I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your son. My condolences. I've been looking into making my own shot myself because I can't find any #7 #7 1/2 or #8 shot in stock anywhere local to me. If by chance you plan on selling please let me know as finding as used shot maker seems to be near impossible. Best wishes to you and your family.

    Are you using pure lead or lead like wheel weights that has antimony and other stuff in it?

  • @newtybot
    @newtybot 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I’m sure everyone in the world knows but at the beginning the big chunks were cus you were grabbing them too soon; ie the strainer was too close to the surface. The lead didn’t have enough time to freeze in the water solution, so they clumped up

      It is not pure lead I only use pure lead for black powder. It has some antimony and some tin. If I remember Its 15lb lead and 3 lbs linotype (has antimony and tin mixed. Go to www.castbulletassoc.org/
      and down load their lead hardness calculator it shows all the different alloys you can use and its a spread sheet to allow you to calculate your hardness.
