@@randalalansmith9883 Why not just trim away the areas of damage, and then fill and paint those? You haven't replaced what you took off, but most of the original is saved, and you have way less painting to do. Not to mention a lot more reference material to go off of.
This reminds me of an anecdote about a stonemason who was working on a cathedral. He was meticulously carving a beautifully-detailed decoration on a block that would ultimately be placed quite high on the structure, in a location where it wouldn't even be visible from the ground. A bystander asked him why he was taking such great care with something that no one would ever see. The stonemason just smiled and said, "God will see it."
When that first coat of shellac went on, you could hear a collective “Ahhhh” from everyone watching--followed by happy smiles with each coat after. 🌟 👍🏻
what an absolute master. as a painter/fine finisher, I appreciate your dedication. "noone will see it but I will do it anyways" is the perfect representation of people who you WANT working on your stuff. God bless, thanks for the video.
TH-cam often shows me your older videos. This one I had not seen. You made the table so charming and wonderful, how I wish I had one of these! The song enters the video as an announcement of applauses. You are extraordinary! 👏👏🍷
Outstanding Art Deco table! I love the beautiful book matched walnut veneer! So rare to find these days! I'm so glad you are not like the others who paint "everything" when they "restore". That wood is so beautiful, it would be a sin to smother it with paint! You are saving treasures from the landfill one project at a time! Thanks for such an inspirational video! It has given me some ideas on how to restore an antique desk I purchased for $15.
AT, if I ever had the honor of being in your studio to watch you work would be on my bucket list. Of course you’d probably wouldn’t get much done with all my questions I wanted to ask LOL. I’ve never seen a table like that but it’s a gorgeous piece of furniture. The top of it is beautiful. Apparently most of it is veneer but you gave it another level. I never knew you can get shellac sticks. I’m learning everyday watching you. Your videos are amazing. I can watch them all day n never be bored. ♥️♥️😊👍👍👍
Just found your channel and I've been binge watching. I'm a fan of art deco and love this table. Thank you for saving it. It's a beautiful piece. Great work! Subscribed to see more!
I just found it too! I LOVE watching you restore these pieces and I’ve been binge watching too. You are so talented, I’ve never seen anything like it. Please keep going, it’s such a gift. Thank you!
I have an Art Deco table in need of restoration, not quite as desperate as this table. But I'm frightened to bequeath it to my son because I know he will toss it in the garbage! I'm inspired to do the repairs myself and then sell it myself! thank you for sharing your Art
Me gusta muchísimo como restaura, porque a pesar de poner trozos nuevos, el mueble conserva todo el encanto y el espíritu que tenía cuando se hizo, enhorabuena, un trabajo impecable
A great find on a real AD piece. The repair with the tongue depressor was amusing!! Shellac rubbing is almost lost to history here in the US. Thank the Gods someone else did not find this genuine piece and "flip" it with Bondo and pink wall paint.
I love that your wood filler is usually (wood) filler that's awesome especially in a world of bondo and quick wood or whatever else people are using now .... Yard mud play doh whatever you know lol
This made me miss being a finisher. Literally couldn’t afford anything we built in the shop but one can dream while being surrounded by it all day. (However I don’t miss the sawdust one bit. Literally everywhere.)
Finished beautifully another piece restored well done 👍 Do you teach?? Your skills should be passed down to the next generation. You don’t see that much anymore. Greetings from Western Australia 🇦🇺
I've said it before and I'll say it many times, you are truly an artist.
"No one will notice but I will do it anyway!" --- My partner and I flame over that all the time. I vote your way because I know it's there!
As a set painter, I would have just sanded off all the veneer and faked everything with paint since it's not replaceable. So, kinda opposite.
@@randalalansmith9883 This is about restoration/conservation, not renewing.

I choked on my sandwich when you opened that new brief case and the choir struck a chord. OMG that was so funny.
That tablecloth removal is NAUGHTY
“No one will notice it, but I will do it anyway” got you a subscriber.

The chorus when you open your new briefcase is priceless 🙂 Well done, good job!

The divine music at the briefcase reveal cracked me up, thank you :D

The Furniture Whisperer got himself some NICE routing bits!
I greatly admire how you patched the veneer and repaired other damage. That table top grain pattern in 45 degree wedges is beautuful.
That’s craftsmanship - the result is just amazing!
While I don't have the authority to state that _I Think It Looks Pretty Good,_ I can definitely say I think it looks pretty good.
Good job! I'm a restorer from Ukraine, I often watch your videos.
"no one will notice it, but i will do it anyway" is a point of good work.
Love how you did a little strip tease at the end. Showing the beauty of the table in its nakedness.
Just found you,you are a artist and craftsman, such a jewel in this crazy world
That was amazing. I love art deco furniture and it was great to see it come back to its former glory.

Чудеса, столик, как новый! Мастер от Бога!
That was an amazing restoration. That took the patience of Job to do all those layers. Looking forward to more videos.

Beautiful 😍. Great work. I love how you use PVA and an iron to apply veneer.
I am going to have to try that on my next project. Looks cleaner and simpler.
Its the best solution when you cant use press.
Stunning! I love watching these they are works of art!
Excellent job. Congratulations!!!!
