Yes 100% it uses about 1/2 quart at 3k miles on a work truck hauls about 975 lbs regularly
@@desolategrey thanks for watching and commenting, friend!
Hey Guys I am a Chevrolet Technician in Michigan. Do not, I repeat do not do over 5k oil changes on direct injection turbo engines. Do 4k MAX max max!!! Also fuel usage and oil consumption go hand in hand. GM has a formula for rate of oil burning based on fuel consumption. If you TOW or have high fuel usage you WILL burn more oil. Perform intake valve cleaning periodically and change at 4k period. For most folks puts you at 3 oil changes a year. Do not use the oil life monitor. Change your air filter every year period! dirty air filter will cause excessive fuel usage.... then you guessed it more oil usage.
Thanks for the comment! I have a lot of Technicians who comment and I appreciate them all. The consensus is exactly as you said. Change the oil much more frequently. I appreciate your input and thank you for watching!
@@jeremsgarage great content and its fun to watch. I just got a 2.7 turbomax and tow my travel trailer also. I traded in my 22 RST 6.2 for a 24 Turbomax. Wanted to test one for the dealer for a while.
Thanks for this expert advice!
Now that the GM 2.7 has been around for several years - what do you think of them overall? Will they last 100,000+ miles?
@@DavidDremerI usually change my oil when it says 50% oil life… is that okay on the 2023 model 2.7L 4 cylinder? Changing to early around maybe every 2000-2500 miles I think… if my math is right, but it says 50% oil life every time I take it to the dealer
I have a 2020 Chevy Silverado at 68000 miles one of the cam shafts went out had to be replaced been reliable truck so far
Thanks for sharing your experience. So far, so good with this one. But I'm getting closer to 60k miles now. Hopefully, the cams are okay.
@@jeremsgarage your welcome yea it recently happened but keep posted videos of your truck love the vids man
Buddy changes his oil every 5k or so towing 7500lbs full time. Hes over 190k no issues. Uses some oil between changes but no more then when it was new.
Yes, in the market for a truck thanks for your videos still looking for a truck, but I’m not purchasing a 2.7 four-cylinder for a few reasons the oil burning, also I’ve read and was told by the dealer needs 91 octane or better and also I like putting Exhaust on my truck and the four cylinders sound horrible.
I run 87 and have since day 1. Oil burning is the nature of any turbocharged engine. I’ve even had some V8’s burn oil. Most manufacturers say 1 qt between changes is normal. Good luck on your purchase.
The dealer was incorrect
@@jeremsgaragemy ecoboost doesn’t burn any oil
@@JimmyCasket02 cool.
@@jeremsgarage It's because it's on a tow truck all the time.
I usually change mine at 3-3500 i havent noticed any oil burning yet im at 19,000
Good deal!
I change my oil every 3,000 miles better for your engine
Agree. Thanks for watching.
I change my oil every 30 miles with Amsoil 😳😳😳😳😳😳😳
Good!
