I'm taking an illustrator class at my local college. I feel like I'm not learning anything.. at.. all! So frustrating. Our teacher is nice and will help, but basically, we open our book.. start at #1.. and go through the motions. After, I don't remember a single thing! If it doesn't tell you what to do in the next step.. I can't do it. It's confusing. No explination. There's a lot of how to set up the art (makes no sense and she doesn't say why). I still can't do easy stuff from day 1! I Will not give up! But now I found you! You are an amazing teacher! Thanks! I just want to do well and LEARN what I'm spending time on! Thanks a ton!!!

Hi Jason, I'm brand new to illustrator and your channel. I'm at 2:19 and i can't transform the whale. My transform option is set to pixels and not inches. How do I change that? Please help!
In your Preferences- Under the Units tab you can change general setting to inches instead of pixels

Are you unable to see the contact form? Check your browser for pop up blockers. If it is something other than that please let me know. I use Google Chrome for my browser
Can you take an image traced drawing and fill it with color? I was taught image trace but I feel like I am very limited with it.
If you scanned and used image trace or the app (adobe Capture) you should have an expanded brush (you might need to expand after the live trace. Next thing to look for is if the line work has enclosed gaps for coloring or if it really looks open and none of the black areas are touching. Most of the tutorials will use Live Paint to Color in just live using the Paint Bucket in Photoshop. You might need to add in some segments (pen, segment tool or curvature tool) that fill in the gaps with a live. If you find any of the coloring tutorials it will walk you through this process. You can stay on the whale it will cover it in the coloring tutorial.
I just downloaded your brushes package. On the left side of that screen it says "12% COMPLETE", is there something I didn't download? Right now I have the package of 200 brushes, what else should I have downloaded? Thanks
That is reference to the Videos and Challenges within the Brushes. That number does not reflect the download percentage. Did you download the Resource Folder?
@@JasonSecrest Under the Resource Folder, it downloaded something called "CHALLENGES + TUTORIALS.zip", but didn't download anything that's just called the Resource Folder. Is that something I should have gotten? Nothing happens when I click on "Download The Resource Folder".
That is the folder that has the Tutorial Resources in it. There are only 2 folders to download.
Take that back, 2 Brush Folders + Resources

Whale in my illustrater,locked up with pencil tool selected,will not respond to anything i can move it around but it won't write!
Are you trying to draw on a locked layer or the template layer?
1. Create a new layer above your template layer
2. Make sure the new layer is selected before trying to draw on the layer.
* The mistake is you have created a new layer but the template layer is the layer selected
Don't know where the pencil came from,appeared with the whale,all appeared on illustrator when i downloaded the whale!
