    Also, something one of my alters said to me- "We may first form to do a specific job, but when said job is done, we may decide to find another one. Just as people change careers, we can change roles."

    This was really interesting, especially because we have Littles who do have jobs.
    We have some incredibly feisty and fierce Little Protectors, and also Littles who are Caretakers of the other Littles.
    While we don’t exactly know how or why this is how it worked out everyone is more than happy with it.

    I really thought it was great that you explained in the beginning that even though an alter may have a certain job, that that isn't all there is to them. I also loved how you explained that littles have usually been around a long time and so they can do things beyond what they are expected to be doing at their age. Love your videos! Keep them coming! :D

    Hi, I recently discovered that I have something like DID. Well I'm not totally sure, because psychology is a vast subject, and while I haven't seen a therapist, I'll never be sure of what I have.
    Buuut the more I learn, the more I believe I have it. It made my life a hell for a long time, because I'm unable to have a normal relationship, even is a part of me crave for it.
    So thank you for sharing your knowledge with people, you're making interesting, and I feel more normal and less afraid now.
    I'm still discovering things about me. Every time I talk about it to a friend, they point out things that I hadn't spotted before, and that bring me a bit more to the conclusion that several girls are sharing my body.
    You're making it even clearer, thank you

    Littles exist to catch back up on lost time because of an experience that robbed them of a normal childhood.
    -Or at least that’s my understanding of why they exist? It’s really quite sweet, albeit a little sad. This is so incredibly fascinating to hear y’all talk about this stuff, i feel like I learn so much about the experiences of people and their interactions and how it can affect us. And really more of an understanding of the human mind and its capacity. It’s really beautiful.
    It also makes me think of how much work we have to do as a society so that we can treat each other better, when need to truly teach and show our children how to interact and communicate with love and respect - show them love and respect, so they can grow up good and not harm others. Because this is what happens when damaged people damage other people, when adults that were hurt, harm children too. Even tho DID is not merely the messy aftermath of trama - it can be a beautiful and unique experience, but it still shouldn’t have to happen. And it wouldn’t if we treated each other right, so we could all develop right and so on so forth.
    Anyway sorry about that rant idk what came over me haha, but this was so interesting and your videos are incredible!

    I've often told my alters (who mainly present as younger, but can change ages whenever they feel like it) "you're job is done. Thank you for all you did, but now it's your time. It's your time to figure out who you and your interests. Most of my alters are left handed (I am ambidextrous, but was forced to be mainly right early in school as far as writing). Most enjoy music and art just as much as I do. One of my alters, Talyia, has gravitated to the xylophone. She still goes on rages sometimes like when she worked with me, but for the most part she's a kid and is living her life discovering what being a full well rounded person is. One weird thing is that alters (at least Talyia) didn't understand a lot about how we work and why we do the things we do. Maybe because she wasn't out when I was younger and didn't quite develop that way. The first time I cried from missing my then long distance fiancé she thought he had hurt me and got upset with him. "You made her cry!" she yelled at him when in fact it wasn't his fault. She really didn't understand why I cried when we moved 1700 miles to be with him. Again, she thought he'd hurt me. She also didn't understand the butterflies in my stomach and tingling in the chest I'd get when I thought of him or, finally, was able to be with him physically. She assumed I was in pain and, again, he might be the reason. I had to explain all of these things to her. She's super close with my fiancé now and all of his alters as well (he's also DID). In fact she looks at him and calls him dad.... which is so sweet to me. We really didn't have a nice dad in our lives consistently and he's very warm and caring and understanding with her. When she's out with him she presents as a 9 year old which is the age I was when I remember the worst of my abuse starting. I think she does because she's trying to repair and capture the experience of having a loving father at that age. This might sound really weird to some, but... it works.

    I am currently working with a therapist to discover my system, thus far I only have conformations of 2 others but communication is going at a snails pace as only the protector (don't know his name yet, only that he comes out when I get a a PTSD trigger therefore calling him by his job) is willing to sometimes communicate. Any advice for a newly discovered system having getting to know each other?

    • @TheEntropySystem
      @TheEntropySystem  6 ปีที่แล้ว +30

      My first bit of advice when trying to build communication in your system is to be patient with yourself. It may take time to learn anything at all about your system. There will definitely be days where it is more difficult than others. It’s just a normal part of the process.
      There are a few ways we worked/are working to build communication. One is journaling. Whether you write or keep a video diary, try to do this on a semi regular schedule and encourage your alters to do the same. Even now I am learning new things about my headmates and it almost all comes through journaling.
      Another way is meditation. I’ll sit in a dark, quiet room and “feel” around in my head with my thoughts. I’ll think specific questions like “what’s your name?” and just wait to see if I get a response. It usually comes in the form of a thought that doesn’t feel like it belongs to me. A way to make this a bit easier is to try and picture an inner world. It can be anything from a solar system to a single room depending on what makes you feel safe and secure. Picturing a specific meeting place helps put everyone in the mindset for communication. Our meeting place is a fire pit on a beach.
      Finally, keep an open mind. What you think is one moody alter may be two working in tandem. You may think you’ve met everyone in your system only for another to surface. An alter may be easy to communicate with and then vanish for a period of time. Like I said earlier, it takes time and that’s ok.
      Best wishes to you and your journey to healing. -Wyn

    I've been watching more and more of your videos, I found you through disassociaDID, and so many of the experiences y'all are sharing are almost verbatim familiar. I'm a bit scared but I'm taking my time and being patient and starting to meditate and reach out internally. I don't want to call anything to early but I did want to let you know how much you're helping with my journey already and even if I end up not having DID you are already making the process less intimidating. Thank you 💕

    This may be a stupid question, but do alters age up? Like as the host gets older, do their alters also get older with them? Or do they always stay the same age?

    • @TheEntropySystem
      @TheEntropySystem  6 ปีที่แล้ว +62

      Some age like normal and some may be one age for a long time before suddenly jumping to something new. It's not uncommon, however, for alters to not age at all. Most of the alters in our system are locked in at their current age. Then there is something called "age sliding" which is when an alter can present as any age along a certain scale. In our case, our headmate Josh can appear as any age between 3 and 10. -Wyn

    I have not been fully diagnosed, but I know that I have D.I.D... I need some advice. When my mom told me what this was (She's not a doctor but she knows a bunch about stuff such as this) she doesn't think it's actually people, because I have many the main ones such as Amethyst, Alexander, Shadow, Phoenix, and Cordelia (there are more but those are just the main ones ) . Each one has their own story and "Role" as my mom likes to put it... But she is convinced it's just my "Past lives" are trying to intervene in something that they have no place too... Amethyst tried to explain to her and so did I but she still thinks if I just will it away or "Get better" they will go away... I Honestly have no idea what to do.. Because when they come out she doesn't notice them, I have given her papers on a few of them letting her know about them their looks and such... But I don't know how to describe it to her to let her see its not how she sees it..
    Any ideas?
    With my love,
    Sami

    Heads up for anyone making a video or taking a picture or whatever- DO NOT PLACE IMPORTANT THINGS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SCREEN. We see this especially with words. That’s where captions/subtitles go! Deaf/HoH people have to pause the video, remove captions, check the graphic, and turn them back on ANYTIME this happens in a video. Or they just give up. You as a creator want people to have the full experience of your awesome stuff? Move up those graphics!!

    I know you've done almost every title by now, but do you mention introjects? I know that's KIIIND of factive, but Lito's examples in that video of factives were like celebrities and historical figures.
    But I've heard that introjects can be anything from an abuser, to a close friend, or even a friend's baby reflected into the system. I'm so sorry if I've just missed your video about introjects, but in one of these (I think the part 2) Kit asked for anything missed so I thought I would comment this.
    I hope I'm not overstepping. I deal with some dissociation myself, but do not have DID, so I can only somewhat relate.
    Best of luck to you all! You all seem to have a really cool group in your system :)

      some alters in the system can date other alters in other systems like I know of a system who the host was dating the host of another system and an alter in that system was dating a alter in a different system. I don’t know if alters could date someone who is not a system though

    • @artgoing
      @artgoing 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@autumnsnoop I dated a non system, alters respect that they are all committed to the relationship, although they don’t need to make anything sexual in any way.
      A common misconception about anyone with alters is that they’re cheaters and noncommittal. Yes there are people out there who are cheaters. But systems are not always cheaters.

      They look very very different from one another. Michelle has light brown hair and green eyes. Karen has black hair and brown eyes. Josh has bleach blond hair and green eyes. Their faces don’t resemble one another at all. -Wyn

    Can a fragment develop to become a full alter in anyone's experience?

      Yep! Daniel started as a fragment. He didn’t flesh out until I was 19. -Wyn

      The Entropy System thanks for the response. I've recently been introduced to what I think is my first alter and I stumbled upon you all. I'm really glad. I didn't think there were other people like me (other than my partner who is also undiagnosed) but I have lots of questions now.

    Is it normal for an alter to wish to have no role?

    Hey guys, I just watched some of your videos (I found them quite enjoyable and informative, thank you for making these.) and was wondering if I could ask you some questions. (There is about 15.) You don’t have to do it if you don’t want to, I’m just supposed to interview someone for my I-Search project (It’s a project where you can research whatever you want and since this disorder is something I learned about a year or so ago and was very interested in learning more, I chose it as my topic.) but I believe it will work if we just communicate through comments. Again you don’t have to do this, I can find someone else and I would hate to make you guys uncomfortable. So if your reading this, I’ll just end it by saying, if you want to respond and allow me to ask my questions go ahead, if you don’t that’s fine, thank you for spending some of your time reading this.

      +The Entropy System Hey again, I just want to thank you for answering my questions. Its an honor to have someone like you helping with my project. The answers helped a lot and some even surprised me. I can't wait to finally finish the project and inform my comrades about this disorder as best as I can. I hope you, and everyone of the head mates have a wonderful day!

    Personally, I've been experiencing what alters might be recently, and I think I have DID, but I've been getting this one "alter" if you could call it that still not sure if I have it, popping up, named Barry, and he's supposed to calm me down and verbally protect me.
    Basically I say a lot of stupid things a lot and I don't have a filter, but since Barry has been showing up, he's like that filter for me which protects me from saying something obnoxious unintentionally.
    I'm gonna ask to get tested for DID and if it is this, I'm just gonna leave that other protector out there.

    You'd think that just knowing this was an abnormality caused by trauma would be the key to Solving this issue. Sorta like how people who believe they are possessed need an exorcism, even though it's not real. The brain believes it so therefore it is.
