it's so cool to hear Stirling Moss talk about his experiences with the cars and especially the confidence Mercedes engineering afforded him and his teammates. it really puts into perspective just how near death these guys were when they went about their business.
Wasn't Lewis around during F1's trips to Indianapolis? That was banked for at least one long section? The infamous race where only six cars took the grid was hilarious.
Hans Hermanns Erzählungen - tief durchatmen - absolutes Gold. Ich muss mal schauen ob es da ein Buch gibt, aber ihm zuzuhören ist eigentlich noch viel besser
I think the time has come to dedicate the entire FOS 2020 to Stirling. No question. And for that matter, the Revival... how about combining the two, if that's even possible. Perhaps call the combined event 'Goodwood's Stirling Festival'.
How fucking stupid are you idiot??? The only guy who's responsible and caused this terrible 1955 LeMans crash wash fucking ruthless Mike Hawthorn! You idiot just don't get it, even 65 years after this race! Who are you? A fucking stupid Brit? Mercedes-Benz did absolutely nothing wrong in this race. But Hawthorn was a fucking bastard, who just hated Mercedes-Benz "for what this company represented", because of WWII !! Therefore "he just couldn't let Mercedes-Benz win LeMans just ten years after the war"... As a "WWII victor's justice Brit", he seemingly thought that a British team just has the right to succeed at this race over a German team. That was it, in his eyes! A fucking ruthless British race driver, who just thought "let's blame Mercedes-Benz after this race for all these 84 dead spectators and a dead Pierre Levegh"... Maybe because of "these are the evil Germans, who built a lot of fighter aircraft engines for the German Wehrmacht, who killed British people in WWII just ten years before"...?! How about that? Mike Hawthorn was just a prick, but nothing more! Just learn the facts about this horrible crash: Mike Hawthorn was just totally responsible for all this, because he really thought he can get to the pit in the very last moment, when it was absolutely impossible to make it "in a safe way". But sadly it was way too late at this point. He forced Lance Macklin to avoid the contact with his Jaguar, which had the fatal result that Pierre Leveghs 300 SL on the left couldn't stay on the track and flew into all these spectators! This all happened because of Mike Hawthorns crazy move into the pit... The 300 SLR with Pierre Levegh was just at the wrong place at the wrong time and flew right into all these spectators on the left. Because of fucking Mike Hawthorns stupidity!!! Hawthorns Jaguar finally came to a standstill very far 80 meters behind his Jaguar pit crew!! This says it all, how fucking way too fast he really was, because he came into the pit way too late! Hawthorn made a huge mistake and caused this crash! A lot of people died because of his stupidity, but not because of a "Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR technical failure"... You fucking uneducated fake news clown! For the record: Mike Hawthorn even "cheered" on the winners podium after this race, which totally scandalously wasn't stopped after this crash... This was just absolutely inhuman! A "cheering winner" of a race, in which more than 80 people were killed by his own fault and stupidity! That's just unbelievable! In this 1955 Le Mans race Jaguar was just a fucking ruthless British team, because they didn't retire like Mercedes-Benz did. Just imagine: there were 84 dead people, but this fucking prick was even cheering on the podium!!! At least Mercedes-Benz had the courage to retire from this race, after it was clear that a lot of people had died! Hawthorn was a crazy stupid fucker, and his fucking stupidity has killed all these 84 people! By the way: Mike Hawthorn died just a few years later 1959 at a "little private road race" against the the Scottish racing team owner Rob Walker on a public road... He drove a 300 SL... LOL! This is just hilarious and shows, how the state of mind of Mike Hawthorn really was. He was a totally moron, but nothing more! And he never showed empathy with all these dead people from Le Mans 1955! "Greetings" from Germany..., you idiot!
Imagine the talk in the German pits when Stirling remarks about the broken windscreen? 🤣"That damn impetuous Brit is complaining about the damn stupid Windscreen now! What shall I do??" other guy : "Give him a damn bulletproof one if he desires! he is winning us races!!"
God rest his soul, true legend

“Stirling” actually is a way of saying “doing fantastic” in the UK
www.collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/english/sterling
Like the Mercedes sports cars,Sir Stirling had fannes and passion to be the best, and the cars were the most beautiful sport cars ever built(300SLR).
"I'm going on top of the banking at... 300km/h ...and the steering broke...that was not very good". Well, what understatement, LOL!
"bravery and stupidity are very closely related" Classic Stirling. A year on....Rip Sir
would have been nice to have the sound louder so we could hear them more
Great video! What a great driver, sportsman and gentleman Sir Stirling was. Sadly missing him already. RIP.
Two great drivers R.I.P. Stirling

Looking forward to Grosjean's attempt at jumping the fence of that new corner.

@@pharoahegypt He joined F1 in 2007. No idea how long that GP lasted, but my guess is that he either drove it once or never drove it before
@@klaasklapsigaar1081 Damn ,you have picked the"most likely too" , I hope the barriers are good enough, we don't want him emulating Levegh
Hamilton definitely raced at Indy. Him and Alonso were side by side down the main straight in 2007.
Magnificent cars from the golden era of motor racing. Beautiful cars.

i'm just going to say it. i love the e type, but the original 722 is THE coolest car ever made.
The UK had a banked track at Brooklands, but the developers ripped it up.
R.I.P legend!
Stirling Moss, el mejor amigo de Fangio.

Death was a whole lot closer in Sir Stirlings time...respect for any driver of those times.... F1 is just a procession of fast cars now.
