Agreed on everything! I can't defend that encounter rate, especially without a consistent & good way to ward them off like in Breath of Fire 1. Overall though, really did enjoy my experience all things considered.
To this day, I have trouble deciding if I like BoF1 or BoF2 better. I mean, I absolutely love all of the new extras that BoF2 brought into the fold, and the playable team overall is pretty cool (especially Katt and Nu-Nina, since they're dependably badass), but my memories linger more on BoF1's story and team. I mean, let's be real: Bo and Karn is the best buddy film duo ever. I think it's safe to say that both games are equally good in different respects, especially for 16-bit JRPG fans looking for something outside of the mainstream lineups. It'd be amazing if some superfan with skill in RPG Maker managed to make a "worlds collide" mashup of the two, though. :)
I hear you on that! For me it's similar-ish to how I view Dragon Warrior & Dragon Warrior 2. DW2/BOF2 is so much vaster, I had a blast with like 3/4's of it, and the end game grind was brutal. Where DW/BOF was more charming & quaint. Not exactly a 1:1 comparison, but just as my point of reference. Though, clearly IMO, BOF2 is superior to DW2. Rambling aside: I'd have a hard time picking as well. I think BOF2 is clearly superior in many ways, but if you had to ask me which I'd rather play tomorrow? Probably BOF. I love both though, so no indictment on either!
Heya there, I subscribed to your channel not too long ago so I haven't really watched too many videos here, but as far as game videos goes my favorite topics are reviews and let's plays. And after watching this review here of one of my fave snes rpgs Breath Of Fire 2, I gotta say I really enjoyed it. You were articulate and concise in parts where you should be like in what you are describing and I appreciate how you broke it in categories when talking about different aspects of the game. So yeah now I know I'll definitely be watching more of your reviews here as I just put all your game reviews in my library along with your LP of Wild Arms because that is another one of my fave games. Ok, thanks and keep up the good work sir! 👍
I appreciate the kind words! Do note that a lot of my older reviews are shorter with less tech upgrades back the , I feel like I kinda hit my stride at some point in 2022 haha. Anyways, hope you enjoy!
I remember seeing Breath Of Fire 🔥 in issues of gamepro when I was a kid it's looks brilliant and my favorite character from the sequel is Katt because she is good looking. 😀👍🎮
Katt was my favorite character for the first half of my playthrough! Unfortunately, when the game started introducing some solo-character stuff, I kind of forgot about her. Great design though. Super cool game overall!
nice review short and concise! i agree with all of the criticism. good editing. cant wait for youvtonplsy bof3 is my favorite and i have a feeling you like it too it fixes a lot of stuff and...somethings are never fixed lol
Thank you! I put quite a bit into this one given the length of it... by far my longest review. But man, there's so much than can still be said - so sometimes I get why there are long reviews! That being said, I will 100% cover BOF3. I just don't know how or when. Seeing the general How Long To Beat length being 40 hours (casual/fast) to 90ish (100%) I am... a bit intimidated to stream that at 3 hours a clip haha.
Nope, not yet. I do very much plan on covering III this year! My neighbor had IV growing up and I watched a lot of it 20+ years ago. They look awesome.
You made us listen to the same 20 second loop of music 55 times for 13 minutes between 4:30-17:30. I wanted to watch this video but come on, dude. I finished it but it was so distracting that I didn't really take much of it in after the first 5 minutes of this loop.
Thankfully things seem to be trending into a more positive direction! I appreciate you checking in. Not out of the woods yet, though. Hope you’re doing well!
Not gonna lie, for this one it was actually hard keeping it this short. Definitely more I could have delved into but didn't need it to be a feature film lmao

I played a fan re-translation of this game and it turned out to be my favorite SNES game. Like it better than FFVI.
Glad you enjoyed it! I do plan on doing a retranslation/hack run in the future as well, but probably not for a while
The graphics in these games is def some of my fav. The colors pop & the enemies are great. I love me some fishing. But not that encounter rate lol

That intro voice sounds just like Patmanqc.
Haha, the Bits intro? It’s Kendo from OG resident evil 2

Yeah, not a lot of great options for extended OSTs in good quality. It is what it is, sorry you didn’t like it.
hey buddy how are things?
